  1. How is it possible to communicate a sale :takeit: but not be able to communicate with the seller, to give them an idea of when they will be paid? Isn't it a common courtesy?

Well...I've had sellers take up to a week to respond with totals... hm

    Jim

Was the the selling thread still open for that week?

Some yes...some who knows? Very few sellers actually close their threads...

    Jim

True. But I think that communication after a sale is critical and should not be ignored.

  3. It's been 7+ days and he's not responded to any of my PM's. Sigh. 30 days to pay for a $20 book is pretty ridiculous, don't you think? Even if he responds now, I won't be selling it to him.

Fretting so much over a $20 book is equally ridiculous.

If he doesn`t pay, put him on the list by all means, but don`t get so hung up over it. It`s $20. That won`t even buy you 3 beers in a bar in Manhattan anymore.

    You've been away for a while . . . lol $20? Try $40

lol I am indeed out of touch. Anyways, just even more reason why getting so worked up over non-payment of $20 after only 7 days seems so, well, petty.

First of all, it's the principle of the matter. I don't like having my time or energy wasted. Especially when I could have sold it to another board member.

Second of all, $20 may mean more to some people than others. Sorry, if I'm not a "high-roller" like you. I make a modest living and don't have wads of cash to blow like some of the other people on these boards.

You don't know me and you sure as hell don't know my financial situation. So, instead of calling me petty, maybe you should consider keeping your elitist attitude to yourself.

    :applause:

I believe that the biggest irritant is the time and energy wasted....., that and the elitist trolls who flock to beat you down.

    :golfclap:
  4. Wow! I'm so happy to get one of the harder to find in grade Turoks, for my collection.....NOT! :(

    See anything familiar?

    Ouch :tonofbricks:

I'm done! This was "the straw that broke the camels back" for me. Too much money wasted trying to obtain high grade books for my registry set only to have them arrive at a lower grade because of SCS. Makes me sick to my stomach. Starting this weekend, im going to start selling it all on eBay and start focusing on my Halloween, postcard collection.

you gonna list here in the forum first TH?

Not the turoks. I tried that one time before. They are listed on eBay right now. Maybe some of the other stuff of which there is not much because my main focus was my Turok collection. :sorry:

I might end up keeping them unless someone is willing to pay my price. You can tell by looking at my asking price, that i'm not giving them away. I do have a couple of watchers but they are probably waiting to see if someone will actually pay the price. lol

  5. After a 15 year quest, I have finally secured a nice high grade VF copy of Star Spangled War Stories #90 - start of the "War that Time Forgot" series, with a great Andru/Esposito cover.

There is also a great little Mademoiselle Marie gem by Novick.

    Nice book (thumbs u

Smart to buy raw since the chances of SCS occurring on the way home with the book are virtually non-existant.

    ORIGINAL & VERY RARE

Shown above is an original “The Shadow Magazine” promo copy from 1933. This was a free giveaway promotion teaser magazine used to promote the actual February 15th issue of The Shadow Magazine. There are approx. 16 - (6.75” x 9.75”) pages printed on black and white newsprint. The promo copy is in excellent condition and in my collection!

    Dwight

Does this book qualify as the first ashcan?
  8. Maybe........
I recognize it from the ink on the Millie. (shrug)

Yeah he mentioned it in the auction, but I was hoping it wasn't as bad, Hard book to find in high grade. at 4.00 or 5.00 I figured it was a small gamble.

Sweet looking books! I'd say that you made a good choice buying from that seller.
  9. Who cares about this anyway? Just a bunch of overpriced mid-grade books :sumo: Check out that ASM #50 :roflmao: Or the IM #1 :roflmao: :roflmao: Next thing you know we'll drag out the usual eBay 10-cent listing day suspects doh!

Yes but we won't have to look at it very long if........

How about no bumping unless it's the "24 hours after it drops off the front page" bump or the posting of the :takeit: guy.? This would give everyone equal exposure on the first page.

  10. Then why doesn't the probation list take action in these situations?

It's biding it's time, waiting for the best moment to strike!

meh either that, or......, it's impotent.

The probation list is a list, it doesn't take action. :)

I was waiting for this one lol

  11. OK, I have to leave, HOWEVER as per Arch's wonderful memo, I'm taking this to the discussion board...

How many threads per day is too many...?

More than two in my opinion.

And just to be clear, I politely mentioned Dale's three threads in one day and why it might not be a good idea. He has decided to be pretty bullheaded about the matter...very similiar to what happened in his other pulled sales thread.

    Jim

    Oh, there's a surprise. meh

Tell you what...I'm going to start a new thread every time I have more than twenty books to sell. I'll have the whole front page all to myself, 24/7.

Or I could decide to be reasonable and fair to everyone else and just keep using the same thread until it reaches...oh, let's say 270 pages. meh

    270 pages of drek :cloud9: :cloud9:

That's the point...it's not all been drek. I've posted a Batman #84 in there, Neal Adams X-Men, FF from about #20 through to #200...and just about anything inbetween.

Ah, what's the ing point...be on the look-out for as many threads as I feel like starting on any given evening. (thumbs u

  12. That would be fine with me. By the way, I never stated you were the only one. You were the only one who was a jerk about it. In fact, YOU HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ME CLOSING THE THREAD. GACollectibles is who point out that I made a mistake, and he was really the only one. I talked to him several time by PM and through posts and I closed the thread within about 15 minutes of our discussion about it.

Yeah, I think everyone that read the thread knows how it played out. Anyhow, please be aware that JC will never, ever, under any possible circumstance let you have the last word on this...and it's probably not worth your time to continue to engage him on this subject. (thumbs u

What! Don't stop already.... this was just starting to get good again. lol
