  1. I hate to even say this considering how much I hate PSA right now, but CSG should have just raised the prices now... immediately. Giving people a week's notice is only going to cause another onslaught of submissions (especially bulk and economy) so things will slow down even more.
  2. It appears to not work at all. My package was delivered by USPS a week ago and that Confirm Package Results thing tells me they don't have my package and I should check with my shipper. If anything it makes me more nervous that they've added that to the page.
  3. Hopefully if these were all 80s cards you're going to get 12 SU (Service Unavailable) cards. If so then you don't have to pay for them. I experienced it on an 80s card and the cause was that sometimes those cards aren't cut exactly to the current size of cards so they can't put them in the holder without doing damage. They should have a larger holder soon to get around this problem. Unfortunately, if they're not SU then they might be one of the other codes which means that their AI technology thinks your card has been altered. I'm hoping they fix their tech on that soon because I've had a couple and seen a bunch more that were completely untouched and their AI decided otherwise.
  4. I just got a full load (5 50 packs and penny sleeves) a few days ago that I bought about 2 weeks ago so it wasn't too long of a wait. Love the quality and I'm a big fan of those penny sleeves with the lip to make them easier to remove.
  5. Hang on, they graded yours but didn't slab it? I kind of wish they had done something like that for my oversized Wayne Gretzky. Maybe even offer a way that you could return it to them in the near future when they have slabs that hold slightly larger cards so they can slab it for you. Mine just came with a SU paper and an oversized sticker.
  6. I don't know anything about profit, but I can assure you that volume is the issue facing all of these companies. What we need is a balance between limiting the number of submissions and limiting the kind of cards being slabbed. I'm in a few FB groups for grading companies and it kills me when someone shows off the 200 cards they just got back (after a 10 month wait) and not a single one of them looks to be worth more than $100 (and that's being generous if they were all 10s). It's nuts. I can't remember submitting any card that I didn't think could end up being worth a few hundred dollars at least if its came back as a 9 or 10. Even for just $8-$12 per card I don't see the point. The news from PSA last night is extreme, but it's almost setting up what I would propose. Only allow cards to be submitted if they have a current value of a certain level (maybe even a level for each grade) or I guess I can see allowing some new rookie cards to be slabbed based on speculation. All those commons that I keep seeing out there in slabs will just have to wait their turn until some kind of new model for this business can be discovered.
  7. It's riskier to use top loaders so I wouldn't do it, but I guess if you have to. If you're looking for supplies you should buy them right from CSG in their store. They are really nice quality and the price is great compared to what the scalpers are charging for that other brand. https://shop.collectiblesgroup.com/collections/all-products/products/cgc-semi-rigid-card-holders
  8. No. Adding sub grades to it won't make it a 10. The conversation here is if you don't use sub grades and get a 10 then you won't ever know if your 10 is a Pristine (3 out of 4 10 grades) or a Perfect (all 4 10's). If you got a 9.5 then it indicates that you got at least 2 9.5 sub grades even if they don't show on the card. The best case scenario for you is that your card will come back as 9.5 with 2 9.5 and 2 10 subs.
  9. Based on what I've seen on YouTube videos, the Griffey will come back as SU (Service Unavailable) which will at least get you a refund. As for the other two, I wouldn't try to guess. How did you do on the ones that did get grades?
  10. On the plus side, the shipping kit is really nice. The card holders are great and if you want to buy more the price is very good. The penny sleeves are very cool. They have a lip to them so you can use its to extract the card from a holder without needing to dig a finger into it. Great idea. As for your submission, good luck. If you only submit cards from the past few years then it seems like most of them get graded, but if you want to go back 15-20 years or more then it's going to be a crapshoot. Brent mentioned YouTube videos at the top of this thread so I started watching the and it's incredible. Saw a really reputable guy get a pile of raws back on his submission including ARod rookies and Griffey rookies. Really hard to figure why they were flagged.
  11. I hope so too. I really want to send in a much larger order than my first one, but I'm not willing to accept losing 20-40% of my fees on ungraded cards that some kind of computer mistakenly identified as trimmed. I don't know much about how a (human) grader does his job, but I took my "trimmed" card and matched it up against 4 other identical ones and I can't see a single difference in size, edge cut, color, or anything else that would make me question things. It might slow down the incredible fast times on their grading, but they really need to get some humans looking closer at the flagged cards.
  12. I got charged on the two EV cards, but my money back on the SU. I feel bad about the SU (it was a Gretzky) because those 84-85 OPC cards are notoriously rough cut and this one was actually not bad at all. PSA grades them all the time, but I'm cool if CSG doesn't think they can holder them without causing damage. The two EV cards were pretty much as nice looking as the two I got graded. Small sample of just 5 cards, but I'm glad I didn't send in 50 and find out that 40% would be rejected with no refunds.
  13. I sent in 5 cards, got 2 graded, an 84-85 OPC hockey card was labelled as SU (Service Unavailable due to it not fitting in the holder) and 2 were EV (evidence of trimming/alteration). Those two were a 96-97 Bowman's Best that I pulled back then and has been in plastic since and a 2000 Bowman Brady that I just found in a box of Bowman that I had opened all the packs, but not pulled the Brady cards. It was just sitting in an opened pack in the original box. I was sending it in to compare the grading to what PSA gave me on another one. No question that their system of finding altered cards doesn't work. I hope they fix this soon because the two cards that got graded are amazing looking.
