Without a press, very likely a 9.2 with a shot at 9.4.

Thanks for the feedback. I did ending up with the winning bid which I think is a good price. Book presents really well and according to the grader notes “wear full right of front color breaks color”. However I cannot see the “wear” from any angle anywhere on the right side. The distributor ink is noticeable looking down on the pages but not that bad. I understand it was already graded, but wanted to know the consensus on if it was graded accurately or not. Thanks.

This is going up for auction at Heritage on 8/15/23. This book has been on my want list for a while. Comic seems in great condition and presents really well. There are 2 things that I'd like a 2nd opinion on.
1) The book doesn't have the best wrap. The border on the left side should be on the side of the spine, not the front cover. I noticed this is not uncommon on this book, but this one is on the larger side. However, what I do like is that it's straight from top to bottom. Is this considered a bad wrap?
2) Is there distributor ink on the top left of the book? I'm not sure since nothing is visible on the back side. It's very straight and even so not sure if it's from the original print, or distributor ink. If it is distributor ink, does this impact the appeal? I know CGC doesn't typically consider distributor ink when grading.
What's the over consensus on this book? Again, it's one of the cleaner, more appealing ones I've seen. I'm looking for one in the 6.5 - 7.5 range with white pages.

Hello, I am new to submitting books to CGC for grading. I am preparing to send in 3 comics to GCG for grading. 2 are raw books (Modern) and 1 is already graded (Vintage). The 2 modern books I just want graded. The already graded Vintage book I want cracked, pressed and regraded. When filling out the online submission form, there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Seems like I can't combine just grading with the pressing and grading in one submission.
Does this require I submit 2 separate online invoices? CGC charges $5 per invoice correct? Or is there a way to submit 1 invoice for the different services I'm requesting. Please advise. Thanks.

Buyer is entitled to a 100% refund without a doubt. This is a cut and dry as it gets. Buyer SPECIFICALLY asked if the book was complete so he knew what to look for. Seller was knowingly misleading. IF the seller did make an “honest mistake” and didn’t know, then it’s on the seller to accept the book back and learn from HIS mistake. The buyer did not make a mistake. A lie is a lie is a lie 30 days or 60 days from now. And no, I don’t think there’s some nefarious plot by CGC to cut the centerfold. I hope to never but a comic from anyone on here that thinks the buyer bears responsibility. Is it really too much to ask for people to just be honest now a days?
The guy bought a comic off eBay, not sign a piece treaty between Russia and Ukraine. Shouldn’t have to worry about a dishonest seller.

Amazing Spider-Man 129 CGC 7.5 is on its way to me!! Will also pick up Incredible Hulk Annual #1. Need to add 3 more helmets too (2 college, 1 pro). Last NFL helmet will be Tampa Bay Throwback. Undecided on the other 2 college helmets. Maybe USC and…? I have allot of wall space yet to fill. All in good time.

Hello All!
FINALLY got around to doing something I've been talking about for literally years now. We've been in our house for a while and I've always had this space carved out for my collection, but it's always been an unfinished room with exposed lumber, beams, and ducts along with a concrete floor with a (non-rectangular) carpet remnant on it. Now we've added another outlet, finished the walls and ceiling, painted, and put down some carpet with a proper pad underneath. The difference is night and day. Take a look:
Before:
After:
I made the choice to go with a green carpet with a pale green carpet so the room would feel even more unique in our house. Additionally, I think it goes well with my collecting focus, which as anyone who knows me would tell you is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Current:
There are a number of things I would still like to do:
- My main method of comic storage is the modular Comic Cube setup. I got these in 2020 and I absolutely LOVE them. The drawers are very sturdy and the fact that they're modular make them reasonable to move myself if necessary. I like them so much that I already put in another order for a smaller 2x3 setup for magazine-sized books to hold my magazine slabs and some overflow raws and hardcovers. Currently they're still in standard comic boxes in the corner that isn't showcased. I hope to provide an update later this year once the Comic Cube is done and in-place.
- I've got a few art pieces that are already earmarked for professional framing and now I've got the space on the wall for them. Again, I'll update once I get them.
- I'd like to 3D print and paint a 1/4 scale Mouser or two to display with my 1990 Turtles in the display case. Just a fun side project to work on.
- Now that I know the space I'm working with, I'll probably let go of a few pieces that I don't think I'd plan on displaying so I can fund these other plans. It's a vicious cycle.
Anyway, I'm very excited and just wanted to share. Thanks for looking!
Really awesome setup!! I just did the exact same thing in my basement. Started off similar to yours and ended up looking the same too, just with a different color. Congrats, I know how you feel.

I'm planning on picking up a CGC 7.5 Amazing Spider-man 129 this year. Right now, prices seem to be hovering around the $2K mark. What are people's thoughts on a good price? I'm thinking $1700 but wondering if it'll come down that much. Thoughts?

For me, it‘d be a Super Marvel Heroes 20 (7.5 or 8.0) with the doom cover. Love me some Dr. doom covers. Will eventually pick up Fantastic Four Annual #2.

I submitted 15 comics to CGC for grading and 6 came back with issues.
Five of the comics have Newton Rings right in the center of the front cover. Is this something covered for reholdering? How many Newton rings are too many? The rest of the books have none or very minimal, so it seems to be possible not to have them.
The biggest issue I have is my Zelda 1 came back with the case separating at the top right corner. It snaps back in kind of, but will separate with the smallest of movements.
I'm not very impressed with this first order, but perhaps in an order of 15 this can happen.
Would this be covered under mechanical error and will I have to pay shipping to CGC and back to me?
Just curious, what grade did the Zelda get?

Here are grader notes "large crease right bottom of front cover breaks color. very light spine stress lines to cover". I am not the original owner of the book and did not have it graded. I purchased it from an auction. I knew the crease was there but the overall book looks really good. I've seen so many higher grades that didn't look this good. Sharp(er) corners, minimal spine ticks, centered really good, white pages. I thought it's a great looking Iron Man #1 without breaking the bank.

I am admittedly surprised by the feedback. Yes it has the color breaking crease but as mentioned is not as noticeable as it appears. Completely disagree with the 5 and 6 grades some are giving. It’s graded a 7.0. According to CGC a 7 is “An above-average collectible with a major defect or an accumulation of small defects.” I am personally happy with the book. Looks great and presents well. I would take this book over many other 7, 7.5s, and even 8s I’ve seen.

There are no scratches on in the "I". That's a reflection of my phone. The center crease is no where near as noticeable as in the picture. Very subtle.

I also had the same thing happen. Submitted a Wolverine #1. Book is flawless but got a 9.6. It looks better than a 9.8 that I bought. Not worth sending in to get regraded. I'll sell it and someone will get a gorgeous 9.6.

I also recently received a book back from CGC and wasn't satisfied with the grade. Was a Wolverine #1 graded 9.6. Book is pristine and definitely should be a 9.8. It looks better than many of other 9.8's that I have. Very disappointed in the outcome. It's why I only buy graded comics. Basically a toss of the dice of which grade you'll recieve.

I know there was a thread on this a few months back, but what’s up with Go Collect? They haven’t posted any new articles since October 2023. I heard they were revamping their site but it’s going on 4 months.
