  1. That's what I figured, but with some of the crazy things I've seen I thought I'd ask. Thanks!
  2. Hope this isn't too rare. I put 10 rounds through one at the range not that long ago...
  3. Just picked up a copy, will read tonight.
  4. I bet that's the best half mile walk to the comic shop...ever.
  5. I usually just take a cab everywhere. No driving and no parking hassle. If you look hard enough, you can find some amazing deals on places to rent. The place I usually stay at is less than a mile from the convention center and I get a smoking deal. Greggy, I will not miss you this year.
  6. Skipping SDCC this year, too much on my plate. Looking for a place to stay? PM me for details. Two bedroom, private bath, kitchen, living room. About 6 miles away, maybe less. Can sleep at least 6. If I don't know you, you must provide references and a deposit. Once we're locked in there will be no refunds. No mopes or turds. Spoken for!
  7. Result: Flippers and resellers suddenly experience a birth boom and are bringing fifteen kids each to the show or suddenly asking relatives and friends if their kids want to go to a comic con.
  8. The sig/exclusive biz can be pretty ugly and is likely more ugly than I've seen with the mere two or three big shows I attend. Too much pettiness, deceit, and overall nonsense. I love seeing these guys get their friends in line for books or sigs, or changing out their exhibitor badges for regular attendee badges so they can get in lines. There are some legit guys out there making a living doing this and kudos to them for doing it right and honestly, but there are very few of them. Some think its all about that hustle. Some think you need to make a killing, when all you really have to do is make a living. But what do I know...
  9. They can limit sigs, but then some guy will get 10 of his friends to stand in line with him - same thing happens when you see books limited to one or two per person, somoene always seems to have 10 or more copies for sale. Remember when Amanda Conner did a free sketch for someone and she found out it was being sold on eBay? Yep, no more free sketches for the fans thanks to some greedy tool bag who probably gushed what a fan they were and had the book on eBay fifteen minutes later...
  10. Kraven says, "Can't we all just get along?"
  11. I would watch this cartoon every morning before school when I was in the sixth grade.
  12. Okay, this is starting to pick up now.
  13. Without giving away anything in episode six - best karaoke scene ever.
  14. I'm through episode four and as an Iron Fist fan, I'm disappointed. But I'm going to keep watching it and hope it gets past the horrible pacing and writing. I just hate watching something with such a great story and potential for live action greatness get off to such a bad start. The fight scenes are okay, and I thought Daredevil did a much better job. Episode five is off to a promising start... EDIT: I love seeing Roy Thomas and Gil Kane in the opening credits.
  15. I enjoy some current stuff (Saga, 7 to Eternity, Low, Batman, Star Wars). Yes, the reboots over the last few years are annoying as hell along with the variants. Seeing the latest in foil covers, as others have commented, takes me back to the disasterous 90s gimmick covers. I know a few publishers are offering 100% money back returns to retailers on books, and I see that as a good thing. I set up at a show recently and am happy to report that I sold a ton of comic books. Dollar books flew out, 3/$1 books did extremely well, and I sold several wall books along with a ton of back issues. BTW, this was at a Wizard World show ( which I said I'd never do again, but I'm trying to clear space out before selling my house and buying my next home). WW Portland was horrible, there were more beef jerky vendors than people selling comics - I kid you not.
  16. I'm not sure how other stores are doing, but I spoke to someone who lives on the east coast and was told a lot of comic shops are not doing well. Someone who owns a shop told me sales of new comic books are down 25% and his bread and butter is the sale of back issues and graphic novels. Local sales of new comics also appear to be down. Anyone hear anything in their area? I remember placing Craigslist ads asking to buy comics and I got some pretty good responses. Now, there are ads all over the place.
  17. Yeah, I'm closing this up right now. Thanks for the purchases, much appreciated and invoices going out. Thanks again!
  18. I'll likely list some more stuff tomorrow. I'm going to be getting rid of a lot of books since I'm hunting for a bigger house to buy and don;t want to ahul a bunch of books around. If you'd like to get invoiced for your ECCC stuff so it gets shipped off sooner, shoot me a PM. Thanks for the purchases, much appreciated.
