    Page quality and stains were the biggest failures by comic shops when it comes to grading, at least from a few years ago. Neither one shows up well in scans.

    I looked through some of the listings and the condition on a lot is pretty rough. It might be tough to get bidders on some of the lots. I did not see any of the key books he had shown in the video so he might still get something out of the deal.

    This was the first Nedor and the first Schomburg cover I ever bought.

    This was my old copy. I think it was the only copy I ever saw for sale. I remember that I bought it raw and had it graded. Very disappointed on the PQ. It presented much nicer.

    Definitely one of the toughest in the run to track down. It was probably one of the last five issues I found when I completed my run.

    This was always my place to share new beauties. I particularly loved how posting a book would lead to a tangential conversation about the artist, publisher, similar books or things totally unrelated. I admit I feel odd posting books that I sold even though I know the current owner will never post the so no one will see them again for a decade or two.

    Just my perspective since I spent a long time away from the boards. The GA forum seems about half as busy as it was five years ago. I don’t see some people who used to be frequent posters and those I do see don’t seem to post very often.

    If he were still around, I would have pestered Maurice Whitman for original art. I know nothing about where he came from or where he went. The info on Zolnerowich was great. I recognize his FH work but did not know about his later efforts. I assume his style must have changed and I don’t recognize his later work.

    I tried to explain my reasoning here. Suffice to say having your collection pilfered followed by police indifference does create a degree of stress that I could not live with. As a total aside, imagine how difficult it would have been to get my books back if I did not have front and back scans of each one accompanied by a unique serial number.
