  1. This thread has been humming lately. Interesting opinions and info. So, what do I do with this. Bethlehem copy which I have owned for 14 years. It's an 8.0/8.5 all day long. Pages off-white, crisp. I have collected PCH and Atlas books since at least 1977 when the Mile High catalog first came out. Regarding the Atlas titles, I was initially a completest. I managed to acquire most of the pre-code issues in VG or better while attending conventions and buying through Alan Light's CBG. There was always a big interest in them especially when HG collections or accumulations would be made available. By interest, I mean a feeding frenzy! I sold off 80% of my Atlas collection around 12 years ago in one fell swoop. Kept my personal favorites and the higher grade issues (thank God).
  2. At a 6.5, this is the highest graded copy on the CGC census. Only two books graded!? There are 24 number ones'. Issues 2 and 6 are very tough in any grade. Cool cover with no word balloons.
  3. YES, hopefully. And Fin Fang Foom, too!!
  4. Love those MGAs. What tough books to find in those grades.
  5. Here are a few more selections from the archives. And ,of course, everyone's favorite the classic giant P-cover. Well as they say a picture tells a thousand words. http://s932.photobucket.com/user/JETPICTURES/media/HOS24_zpsd03d3771.jpg.html' target="_blank">a>
  6. Here are my copies of SA 110 and MGA 32. The SA is just a sharp fresh copy I picked up at a Sotheby's auction many years ago. The SA lot was from Murphy Anderson's personal collection. The MGA is nicer than I thought. Can't remember where I got it.
  7. I have posted these before. For those who missed them last time.
  8. Tough issue. I have the Mound City copy and it grades about F/VF at best.
  9. Super sweet copies. That MGA 6 is just an impossible book to find in nice shape. Love the HOS 7, one of my favs.
  10. That's quite a haul of books you picked up, Dan. Some real nice copies of some of the harder issues to find in grade.
  11. Here are a few of some of my favorite MGA's Mound City copy
  12. Was there more than one Circle 8 copy? I came across this scan in my archives. There were multiple copies of many issues, if not all. I remember going through Harley Yee's boxes and seeing 3 or 4 copies of some Circle 8 issues.
  13. Nice, one of my favorites!!! Coming from the King of DC 1950s and 1960s Sci-Fi collectors that means a lot to me. I'll have to get around to scanning some of my other DC science fiction books--some slabbed and some raw. I just love perusing your collection. I can look at them for hours. SLR Ah gosh, Thanks.
  14. More rootin' tootin' shootin' books. Severin cover # 3 - Health cover Just outstanding detailed drawing of the holsters, boots, belts. # 2 - Severin cover Heath cover # 2 - Severin cover Great cover. A tense scene that needs no word balloons.
  15. I found out about the Levine collection through an advertisement in the weekly,at that time, Comic Buyers Guide. I was getting my weekly issue mailed first class and still by the time I inquired about available books, many were already gone. It was a feeding frenzy even back then. Do not have any info as to the dispersement of the collection. The issues I have do not have any unique markings. Chances are many very HG slabbed Atlas horror books in the census not from known pedigreed collections maybe from that collection.
  16. I'm still looking for one. I bailed out of the bidding on yours.
  17. There have been a few HG collections of ST and JIM from the River City, Northford and Bethlehem pedigreed collections. Another tremendous collection surfaced in 1987 that few know about. It was referred to as the "Levine High II Collection". Philip Levine was (is) a book dealer in New Jersey and offered almost complete pre-code runs of most Atlas horror titles all in very, very high grade. This collection was not pedigreed and preceded CGC, so, all were raw copies. I was only able to pick up a ST # 11 and some other various issues from the other titles. The ST 11 slabbed out to a 9.4, not pressed. Needless to say, it was one of those moments in time were you wished you could have done more.
  18. What a beauty. Is that from the Heritage auction last week?
