  1. +1 Both these books are so difficult to find in any grade, let alone high grade. Where did you get all the Savannah's ? I always thought the Savannah pedigree was a pretty toasty lot but these Showcases are very fresh and bright. Picked them up through Heritage auctions back in June 2011. Page quality is all over the place with this collection. Notice the white pages on the Show 27 I posted to CR/OW on the Show. 16. Picked quite a few other DC titles, too.
  2. Great books, love the Savannah #27. Here's the companion Savannah #28 . http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=11286&GSub=888 Sweet !
  3. Here is my raw # 1 that I picked from Metro a few years ago. I have a few others slabbed. The 27 is a recent pickup.
  4. Beautiful colors, what a great copy!!! The GCE # 13 just came in. This from the Sixth St. collection. The only thing is the BC is kind of dirty. Do any of you with SS books see this too? That might be from the coal dust that reportedly got in with some of the books. My SS Pictorial Romances 21 has a few tiny black specks here and there that look like they might be little granules of coal stuck to the paper. I wonder if some of these books would grade higher if the covers were carefully cleaned? I am tempted. Structurally it is very sharp. The spine, which usually shows chipping and paper loss on the St.John giant size issues, is just beautiful. I'm thinking 8.0-8.5 with the BC cleaned up.

  6. Geez Bill, that is a beautiful looking copy. Are you putting it up for sale? I like the books you have posted for sale, I am just happy with my own copies of these issues.
  7. Thanks for sharing all the info about what seems to be just a terrific collection. Just when we think almost all the significant OO collections have been sniffed out, a find like this comes along. Are there more Matt Baker St.John romance books still to come, Craig? Look forward to viewing more of the collection as they become available.
  8. A beautiful copy. Is this from the Sixth St. collection? Some fantastic Baker romance books surfaced from this recent collection. I just picked up the GCE # 13. Still some books available. I picked up a couple as well. The guy selling them on eBay is asking some pretty strong prices, though. Yes, from that collection. Amazing books and the cover on this one really grabs me. Did either of you crack them out? I have not received my book yet. I do have a low grade GCE 13 to read and look at, so I will not likely crack this copy. This copy just sat there on Ebay as a buy it now option for awhile, It was driving me crazy until I just had to pull the switch and purchase it. Steep price, but what the heck, you only live once.

  10. The biggest I recall is a 9.0 TOS #1 that sold for a little over $10k. The highest graded ST 97 sold for $8k or so and there's been one 9.8 copy of a different issue that sold for over $5k but I don't recall the exact price. The result on the ST 68 exceeded my expectations. Also, a TOS 11 (9.4) for $7600 in Nov. 2012
  11. Great books,Cheetah. Nice selection of unusual and HTF high grade copies of these issues!!!
  12. The monster from Planet X wishes all you turkeys out there a happy Thanksgiving!!
  13. Whew, It just does not get any better. What 6 masterpieces Baker rendered here.
  14. Beautiful ST 75, Bill. The cover of Taboo's dramatic return in # 77 does not have that 3D effect, but the stark black cover is what makes this cover stand out.
