  1. Hey folks, the best I've ever found for mailing posters is PVC pipe. You can buy 3" schedule 30 (A thinner wall than the regular stuff) in ten foot lengths for about 5 or 6 bucks. Shop at your local plumbing store or Big Box (Home Depot, etc) You should be able to cut at least three mailers out of a length, all you need is a hacksaw or regular handsaw, make up some nice caps or plugs out of random bits of cardboard, tape it up and you have something that can't be bent without hydraulics, is completely waterproof, bugproof postofficeproof for about the same price or less than the cardboard mailers. This stuff rocks for posters.
  2. I used to have a copy (No biblio page) in jacket. I got it at a used book store circa 1975 for five bucks, sold it mid-90's at a Chicago convention for $200 or so...seems like many copies have emerged since then.
  3. Howdy! I do indeed need a cover for Superman 5. My copy is missing both the cover and cf. PM me if you can't cut a trade deal, I'd pay some cash or offer some complete books for trade, unfortunately don't have anything on your wantlist. By the bye, bought a lot of covers only (Front and back, most of them quite nice) for the following issues of Jumbo from Fiction house: 52, 53, 54, 58, 60, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 72, 76, 78, 79, 81, 82, 83, 84, 86, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92 and 158. If you have a coverless copy of any of these let me know. I'd sell, but would be happy to trade for decent SA or beat-but-complete Gold, or what-have-you.
  4. Interesting thread. I need the CF for Captain Marvel Adventures 10 & 30, Blue Beetle 8, Spirit 18, Blackhawk 20, Superman 5, and Superman 43. I need cover and outer fold for Superman 2, cover for Superman 5, and cover plus outer folds for Superman 9, cover for Superman 17 Who can hook me up? Crappy-but-complete copies also considered on the Superman books
  5. No mention of Don Heck? Where's the love, man? Heck drew GORGEOUS women.
  6. Too cool! Shoulda known that a noob search wouldn't pull up anything you hadn't seen. By the bye, what do you think of my Jumbo 7 theory for the first pic in this thread?
  7. So, a couple minutes on Our Friend Google, and here's a hard working youngster with a decent selection of comics...
  8. In the first picture, to the left of the Detective, could that possibly be Jumbo Comics 7? Dating would be close, and the panels and lower logo seem to match.
  9. Made that way. This question came up on a Superman of similar vintage awhile back on another forum, and so I went and pulled my Supes run and did page counts through that era, and although all of them had 40 interior pages, there was a bunch with 20 on each side of the staples, and a bunch more with a 24/16 count before and after the staples. Just another of the vagaries of printing and binding of that era. Nothing to see here, move along!
  10. Howdy folks, Here are three more nice FC's from that batch from last spring. I'm going to put them up in the selling forum tomorrow, and if they haven't gone in a couple days I'll list 'em on ebay. I particularly like the Ruff & Reddy, that's the first-ever Hanna Barbera comic book.
  11. Say, those are a couple of sparky little Uncle Scrooges now, aren't they? Nice books all around!
  12. Right back atcha Jim! Here's one of those pretty FC's I was talking about.
  13. Well, it's close over there, catrick339ataol-com, a sarcastic statement on eBay banning email addys as user names. I'll try to scan a few more early issues this week.
  14. Here are a couple I have scanned, just tried them on ebay, no interest in either. The No Time For Sergeants is out of a lot of VERY pretty FC's I picked up last spring.
