  1. Highly doubt it for copies in CGC 9.0 and above due to the relative rarity of Cerebus 1 in high grade as compared to the readily available Albedo 2 in equivalent high grade.
  2. Looks like you are missing a couple of data point here: ComicConnect auctioned off a CGC 9.8 for $56,222 on June 24th or just a week after that $72K outlier sale. The other one was a Heritage auction for $66K a couple days later on June 26th, but then this was for a fugly Signature Series copy smudged by Stan Lee and Len Wein. CGC 9.8 my foot, as I personally think that CGC should downgrade severly for these books when they have been defaced to this extent by these so-called fugly smudged "signatures" if you can even call it that as they are a definite eyesore:
  3. Could just be the December to Feb slump that hits every year. I imagine first hint of X-Men in the MCU and it explodes again. With respect to GSXM 1 in CGC 9.8, it's much more than just your seasonal December to February slump as this book is still searching for a consolidation point after spiking at $72K back in June. Since that big sale, it has consistently dropped back by $5K to $10K with every single succeeding sale after that, and just might be getting near to where it's going to settled in at since this last $37K sale was only a drop of $1,400. It's definitely all about having far too many copies in the top grade of CGC 9.8 with over 200 slabbed copies already and who knows how many more once CGC digs themselves out of that huge backlog they have in their 100,000+ square foot warehouse holding cell. As for X-Men 94 in CGC 9.8, this book seems to still be going strong but probably starting to approach a top for this go round. Last sale took place about 2 weeks ago at just over $72K in the same CC Auction where the GSXM 1 sold for $37K as mentioned above. Hence, still a strong move up from the $63K that a copy received in the April Heritage Auction. No doubt, unlike the GSXM 1 with so many copies in grade as I believe it may have been part of a warehouse find, the X-Men 94 has less than 40 copies graded at this top grade of CGC 9.8. Whether moving back down or continuing with its upward movement in price, it should be pointed out that both of these key BA X-Men books have moved up significantly from the teens where they were selling for only a short year ago.
  4. Interesting. The OP flashed thru the boards and then was gone, leaving behind an interesting thread with a title that’s like fingernails on a chalkboard. Maybe the OP was only here for a short time, but a good time as it looks like he joined at the end of January, but last posted in June. Maybe he simply couldn't take it anymore when this book sold for a rather stunning record $264K after his last post here when he thought it was already nutso at an already record setting $150K for an eyesore of a fugly looking copy:
  5. Well, if you listen to these two jokers in this video here, it most certainly have as evident by drops of more than 50% during the past few months: Definitely on the cold side as it finished up at #7 in their Top 10 coldest comic books, but still better than some of the ones that dropped by 70% to 80% from their highs earlier this year. I guess it's really no surprise how many of these seem to have jumped up in the first place due to movie or TV related hype, but now seeing the other side of the hill. Weren't these the same two guys who had videos earlier this year on how super hot comic books were and now they seem to be taking the opposite tack on the mood of the marketplace. Not sure, but did the guy in glasses hurt himself or give himself a hernia while doing this video, with all of his gestures or was he simply trying his best to take off and fly. Then again, it's good to see that he's certainly enthusiastic and all in when it comes to the subject matter in hand.
  6. Definitly like the way you think because for a collector (especially in the case of a longer term collector) it's not so much about trying to time the market, but really more about spending time in the market. Although you certainly can't win them all when buying at an aggressive clip, it looks like you definitely won out on the Silver Surfer 4 with its all-time classic cover and a book that I personally think is better than Surfer 3 and will continue to increase in value at a faster clip going forward.
  7. I actually clicked onto this link here and I would have to say this eBay seller is most definitely doing his absolute best to denigrate the value of his book here which will most likely end up with him not receving any offers on the book at all. If he wanted to really sell this so-called overgraded book as he called it, he should have simply follow the battle proven and money winning Heritage model and claim that not only is it super rare in this grade, but also one of the absolute highest graded copies in the world and then equate it to the famed and much sought after Edgar Church pedigree collection of books. Before you know it, you'll have the crazed CGC label chasing bidders throwing in wild and crazy offers and you'll see this copy here go for record setting high 3-figures, if not right into strong 4-figures territory.
  8. Did this happen? Not sure about the 9.8's, but a CGC 9.9 copy did sell for something ridiculous like $44K which from my POV seems pretty much like crazy town to me.
  9. Yes, especially fast given that like other Marvel films earlier this year, it has not been released in the huge China movie marketplace. Looks like it is now sitting atop the top global box office charts for 2021 ahead of The Battle of Lake Chanjin and also Hi, Mom: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/world/
  10. What's wrong with saying that it's a "Positively Outstanding Stunning" looking copy of AF 1.
  11. The way I see it is that we tend to focus way too much on the extreme high record setting sale price point which might often be only that one outlier sale, while the majority of the sales actually takes place at substantially lower price points. Perfect case in point being this Silver Surfer 3 as my bet is that there's probably only this one or two sales in the $20K price range and probably a small handful in the $10K+ range, with probably the majority actually taking place in the sub-$10K price range over the past year or so. So, we might have only the one or two unhappy speculative purchasers who feels they got burned on the book, while a whole ton more including those long term collectors who brought way back in the day, still jumping for joy at these reduced higher prices.
  12. Not sure if this is a record for this condition grade, but this POS looking CGC 0.5 graded copy of AF 15 sold for a rather stunning $17,400: https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/amazing-fantasy-15-marvel-1962-cgc-pr-05-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/122152-17035.s?ic5=CatalogHome-MostPopular-112917
  13. Ah yea, your right. Originally slabbed as an 8.0 to boot. Good catch. "Squeezed" out one full point. I'd have to assume its a pie in the sky number tossed out there as some type of marketing strategy. No doubt (at least I have to assume) seller would accept significantly less. Well, let's hope so as I am going to take a big risk here and step right out of my comfort zone by making him a generous offer of $343 or full OPG condition guide value for this book.
  14. All I can say to this then, is that when it comes time for you, me, and the rest of the boardies here to have our books graded, I certainly hope that CGC gives us the same benefit of the doubt and assume that all visible defects are simply production flaws. Somehow though, I get the distinct feeling that this is only reserved for books from the Promise Collection submitted to them by Heritage.
  15. Like you, I also found this rather surprising that there would have been a reduction with no corresponding increase somewhere else. As a result, I took a quick look at the CGCdata.com website here, and noticed the following: http://www.cgcdata.com/cgc/search/comicid/842/6mo from what I am seeing, it would appear that you also included the Signature and Restored counts in your Spring totals (i.e. 2 and 5 respectively) and then counted only the Universal blues labels in your October totals. It actually looks like the Universal 9.4's have gone up by 2 from a count of 85 on June 29th to 87 in their next count on October 26th.
  16. Yeah, just can't understand some of these 9.8 gift grades that CGC has been throwing around for some of these Promise Collection pedigree books. Then again, it looks like they took out the grading whip and cracked it real hard against this "gorgeous" looking book and gave it only a CGC 8.5:
  17. I imagine we are going to see continuing downward drift or easing on this nicely centered copy tomorrow as supply is definitely greater then demand, as compared to earlier in the year when this book in this grade was selling in the teens: omics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/special-marvel-edition-15-master-of-kung-fu-marvel-1973-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/122152-17757.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Then again, at a current bid of $6K or $7,200 including the BP juice, collectors really can't complain too much since this is already multiples of what this book was selling for just a couple of short years ago.
  18. Anybody needing a copy of Albedo #2 to finish off their Black Cat Club collection: https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/albedo-2-thoughts-and-images-1984-cgc-nm-96-white-pages/a/122152-17023.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Already sitting at $15K or $18K including the BP juice with less than 4 hours to go in today's Heritage Subday auction. Definitelymakes kind of wonder where this copy will finish up at by the time it's all said and done in a few short hours from now?
  19. You, kind sir, need MORE egg nod to lift up both your Christmas spirit and your sense of humour. Actually, I've been potty training my granddaughter and this kind of reminds me of a book that I read to her when she's sitting on the potty.
  20. Some people have no shame. Now, now, now................that's not a very nice thing to say about Heritage with its overlapping backscratching ownership of CCG and hence co-sponsers of these very boards here. Especially since Heritage has absolutely no problems with still getting record setting prices when dumping some of their Promise Collection books with CGC grades that are clearly not in those grades, with being a perfect example: Seriously now, another one of those just managed to squeaked in somehow sole highest graded copies from the Promise Collection and sold for a rather mindblowing $10,500 or touching on some 40X OPG condition guide.
  21. Hey Roy; With the now almost year long TAT's to get a book back from the boys over at CGC, a word of advice to you here................stop using those cheapo one hour martinizing cleaners and pressers with their discounted non-standard toxic cleaning materials or your book will end up looking like that faded copy on top long befoe it gets into the hands of a CGC grader.
  22. Sure, why not on what is seemingly our first beautiful snowy Christmas Eve and pending White Christmas in decades!!! Deni feels the urge to go...........runs to the potty..........pulls down her bottoms..........takes a dump..........grabs another HG copy of Cerebus 1 and spits a big gob ball on it after wiping her arse nice and clean with it.............crumble up the soiled Cerebus 1 and tosses it into a shipping mailer bag ...................ships the bag with the Cerebus 1 to CCS for a deep deep cleaning and full on press job....................cleaned and pressed Cerebus 1 is kicked to the next room for CGC grading...............Deni receives another CGC 9.0 graded copy of Cerebus 1 and sells it to the nerdy Cerebus comic book fanboys for a small fortune.
  23. From hearing how bad their breakup apparently went, I wouldn't be surprised if she in fact used her copies to wipe her arse aftering taking a big dump in her little potty.
  24. All I can say is that from just the front cover scan, this appears to be a pretty sharp looking copy relative to its assigned CGC 7.0 grade.
