  1. Don't you just love these last hour bidders as I just received 7 Outbid messages on my cell phone for the books which are closing later today. Actually, don't really mind them since it gives me lots of time to figure out what I am going to do and defintely a whole lot better than trying to go against those CL Hail Mary stratospheric bids that gets thrown in there with scant seconds left in an auction. At least, I still have 2 High bids with a safe comfortable margin for now and I'll guess we'll see if they hold up during their fun and raucous 3-minute extended bidding sessions.
  2. Did somebody call them to see if it actually sold yet of if it is still available right now?
  3. Not sure about the King Comics run, but I did noticed that this week's CC Event auction does have this beautiful painted Flash Gordon cover: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/820399 Not sure where the price for this single highest graded copy is going to end up at , but currently quite a bit lower than both of the Four Color Flash Gordon 's right now.
  4. Well, that's only because it was graded by some guy instead of a member of the fairer sex who might just be interested in male chest hair and probably much more if he was younger and better looking. Well, except for that stress line on the spine of this copy here, it could just be like that Dell File Copy of Crackajack Funnies 9 that went from a CGC 9.0 all the way up to a CGC 9.8 after taking a short break for coffee at the CGC 9.6 rest area.
  5. Tim, you've answered your own question. This is how they look at books when assigning QES stickers! That's only because you money guys are looking at the penthouse version of the QES sticker books when it comes to this All-Star 3 here. For bottom feeders like me, we are stuck having to look at the bargain basement dungeon versions of the QES sticker books like this one here: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/820379 Well okay, probably not bargain basment anymore and might have clawed its way up to the 1st Floor as it has done almost a full triple up to $71 from its $26 price yesterday. Looks like there's only 6 of these in the census with only the Church copy graded higher and I would assume locked away in some lucky collector's personal collection ever since 2003. Like I had stated in one of my previous posts up above, it's rather kind of sad to see that this marketplace is so super hero centric focused. And I guess this explains why this issue here with the 2nd appearance of the Owl is currently running at a higher price point as compared to where some of the other earlier highest graded issues in this run with even fewer slabbed copies are running at right now. Not sure if this group of QES stickered Crackajacks are going to reach the upper floors of 4-figure territory where some of them were able to reach in recent HA and the just completed CL auctions, but probably not much chance of enjoying the $2,500 rather lofty top floor view which the Crackajack Funnies 39 in the last CL Auction was able to enjoy. Will still be interesting to watch and wait to see what happens in the end though.
  6. Sadly, you are most definitely right when you say this. I remember paying something like $50 or $60 for my copy of Savage Tales 1, and yet only $2 for my mintry fresh copy of GSXM 1. Now take a look at the 2 of them as GSXM 1 is deep deep into 5-figures while Savage Tales 1 is pretty much worthless drek in comparison.
  7. https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/8508/ Ummmm.............................that was an article from way way back in August of last year and now it's April of 2021. Maybe RHG just wanted some updated stats to compare as in this fast paced and super robust pandemic driven marketplace of ours, that would now almost seem like several lifetimes ago. Especially, as clearly evident by what has taken place over just the past few months alone.
  8. Shhhhh. I (and my wallet) don't want to have to treat the D.C. characters like the Marvel characters. So keep quiet. Well, if you don't want us talking about the D.C. characters, then how about some of the Fox characters because that same story there also mentioned an upcoming Blue Beetle movie is in the works as part of the continuing expansion of the DCEU movie universe. Here's a link to a more detailed story on this: https://www.thewrap.com/angel-manuel-soto-blue-beetle-latino-superhero-dc-warner-bros/ So, I guess boardies like @Straw-Man was ahead of the game when he acquired a pedigree copy of Mystery Men 1 along with the with the rest of the early MM run which features the original GA version of the Blue Beetle. Then again, maybe should have focused in on the various D.C. versions of the Blue Beetle from the CA onwards to the MA, since I highly doubt today's generation of deep pocketed crypto investors and NFT traders care anything at all about those oldy moldy smelly GA books that show up only once every few years. Especially since they need to get their fix by throwing big dollars at readily available HG books that shows up with multiple copies in every single auction instead.
  9. Says it will grade high because of its rarity. Makes sense. Maybe he's confusing the CGC Grading Scale with CGC Census Population Report and thinks they are both measuring the same thing.
  10. That's impossible, I've got a bunch of DCs sitting in my house right now. Have you checked lately because they just might no longer be there?
  11. Since we are talking about books that have fallen out of favor, I think nothing can really beat some of these early pre-hero DC books like this beauty here: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/862478 Grrrrrrrr...................go figure that as it looks like somebody took out my high bid. Considering that it's the Edgar Church copy and the single highest graded copy out there, maybe I'll toss in another bid or two for this book. I still remember back in the day when Overstreet's top of guide for these early books like this one here only went as high up as VF condition since he assumed no higher graded copies existed for some of these books. Looks like top of guide now for this book is at $16K with the 9.0 condition level valuation at just over $11K, so not sure if I should go any higher since as we all know Overstreet is completely out of touch with the current marketplace. Looks like this book here might already be past it's marketplace valuation, with its current bid price now at a stratospheric $625. Not exactly sure about the reason for this low price here, especially since I thought this marketplace was all about men in tights who wear their underwear on the outside. From this cover here, is it not obvious that Dr. Occult is wearing nothing at all except for his underwear plus I guess a cape?
  12. This guy gave her a good run. He sent me these pics after he bought my Tec 3 and 4. last pic he just sent me end of last year. Yeah, I believe she beat out Ian for the complete DC Collection which apparently did not make him too happy at all. Wasn't it a minor book like Buzzy 70 or something like that which was the last book he needed to finish off his DC Collection?
  13. yeah me too. Its a special key book that has fallen out of favor.. But could be one of those that just needs a movie or TC series to jolt it back to life. There's various shows being announced using the GA JSA heroes of late, so could be this year's hot sleeper book. I had one that I sold to buy a bigger book long ago, so Im not chasing it, but we have seen this play out before. More Fun 73, Sensation 1 etc I would definitely tend to agree with both of you here as the All-Star title was once a must have in order to be called a serious GA DC collector, then fell out of favor for the longest while, and now seems to finally be making a comeback. Kind of similar to the path that the More Fun comic book series has taken and which has seemingly been on the move back up for the past couple of years now. Still lagging behind though would be the Adventure title as you can still pick up some of these issues at or even below condition guide. Nevertheless, it looks like this copy of All-Star 3 is already at a record setting price point and that is definitely good to see and will be nice to see where it finishes up at by the time it's all said and done next week. Yes, the JSA characters have been making appearances in some of the TV shows like DC's Legends of Tomorrow and more so for Hourman as he will also be or has already appeared in Stargirl, along with rumours that he will also be getting his own spin-off TV show. For sure, it sounds as though they have big plans for Hourman as Warners has already announced a big screen movie adaptation for this character as part of the growing DCEC movie universe: https://screenrant.com/hourman-movie-release-date-story-cast-dceu/ So, hopefully all of you already have your copies of Adventure 48 locked away in your personal collection, although for some reason the movie/TV related hype never ever seems to affect the DC comic book characters like how they do with the Marvel comic book characters such as the Venom movie and WandaVision TV series.
  14. That's because you have to type in Master of Kung-Fu. You forgot to include the hyphen. Absolutely hate that!!! Then again, most definitely not as frustrating as the CGC Census Population Report whereby if you are looking for a certain comic book series, you end up with a whole page of crapola with similar names to it, but not the one you are looking for because you forgot a space, a hyphen, you had put in an extra hyphen, you put in Vol 2 #2 instead of V2#2, etc., etc., etc..
  15. Not sure why it would be hard to navigate their website, but then again, I only use it for their Event Auctions and historical auction archives. Not sure about the other parts of their website though. With their Event Auctions, it's easy to find everything because ALL of the books are simply listed in straight alpha order and I also love the 3-minute extended bidding format because that gives me plenty of time to analyze the situation and determine whether I want to go one bid increment higher or not. With that horrid CL format, it seems like if you really want to win a book, you really have to throw in one of those blind Hail Mary stratospheric bids right at the last second and then hope to heck that no other bidder is also thinking the same thing or else you are going to be digging much much deeper into your pocket than you had expected. As for their auction archives, it's not even a contest here as CL has absolutely NO auction archives at all. And in terms of their auction layout, CL seems to have so many different sessions with overlapping books from the different ages that it seems like a mish mash of almost everything and hard to find where the various books are at times, that I usually don't even bother after awhile.
  16. Well, just maybe you might have yourself some company here in terms of the current high bidder and any other potential bidders who's willing to go higher than this on the book. Would you care to join this AS 3 party, as I am sure Vinnie is more than willing to give you a global phone call to personally welcome you if you do. Maybe not Fishler himself, unless you are talking about an Action 1!!!
  17. No problem and not sure why a lot of boardies here seem so upset about the 15% BP on the Kentucky Collection portion of this Event Auction (i.e. only the Thursday & Friday portion) that they are seemingly refusing to participate in this particular auction this time as some form of protest. With how hot and how high the prices have been going lately, makes you almost wonder if there's any auction fatigue here as last time I looked, almost 15% of their lots were still under $10 while a full 55% of their lots have yet to hit triple digits. Besides the uber HG BA and CA books (e.g. Conan's & DD's) that are still sitting there at only low double digits for now, you can even see single highest graded GA books in there like this one here for only $6 with only days left to go: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/820378 \ Nice GA book from early 1940 and highest graded by a long shot with a total of only 5 copies graded to date. Not sure where it's going to end up along with the other HG issues in this run by the time it's all said and done, especially since copies in this Crackajack have been selling for not only premiums to condition guide, but also multiples of guide and well into 4-figures as evident with the recently completed CL Auctions. Maybe bidders just love to pay more money when it comes to HA and especially CL as that's where the CGC label chasers love to hang out. Then again, maybe it's nothing more than the auction format as CC goes with the 3-minute extended bidding auction format whereas HA and CL does not, but heck, at these low current bids like only $6 for some of these books versus versus a Crackajack in the mid-30's selling for something like $2,500 on CL just last month, it's definitely worth watching. It's a good thing you CA guys are never interested in any of these oldy moldy smelly disintegrating GA books.
  18. I would tend to agree and I think the possibility of an upgrade via either CPR or through even a simple straight resub is substantially higher for a book with a QES sticker (depending upon the reasons listed for the sticker of course ) than a book without the sticker. A bit harder to differentiate or tell with with one of those CVA stickers from CL because they are simply generic stickers that doesn't list the detailed reasons for the book to warrant having the sticker in the first place.
  19. Decided to give this thread here a long awaited and timely bump in light of the big upcoming CC Event Auction which end next week. Especially if you are a MOKF aficonado, since it looks like they have a near virtual complete run of the entire MOKF title pretty much all in CGC 9.8 graded condition if you are a uber HG collector or label chaser, starting right from this first issue right here: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/897862 Not really so much for me though since I am more of a MOKF fanatic who loves to leaf through the pages with the beautiful artwork inside, and in particular the ones with the Gulacy interiors.
  20. Is it just me or is anybody else surprised by how well this beautiful looking copy of All Star Comics 3 is doing so far, at $338K+ with the BP: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/900255 Especially since I thought the All Star run had lost some of its lustre when it along with the More Fun run were considered to be must have runs if you were to be deemed as a true GA DC collector back in the day, but not so much anymore. Then again, I guess not as surprising as the Billy Wright CGC 8.5 graded copy which resold for $200K, but we all know the story behind that one there.
  21. Well, any guesses from all you TMNT 1 aficionados as to where this CGC 9.6 graded copy will finish up at in CC's big Event Auction next week: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/901543 Not sure about the differences in the signed inserts between these 2 copies, but will definitely still be interesting to see if this copy here can continue the push upwards from the HA $66K price realized just last week, since it is currently sitting at only $31,001 for now at least.
  22. If I remember correctly, wasn't this issue of Flash Gordon tied with a bunch of other books for either the 9th or 10th spot in terms of valuation when the first Overstreet came out way way back in 1970. Apparently I remember seeing a video the other year on that first guide and the Good Price for this book actually dropped by a dollar or something after all these long decades: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/four-color-10-flash-gordon-mile-high-pedigree-dell-1942-cgc-nm-96-white-pages/a/7187-92124.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 If you are into Flash Gordon, you might just be in luck as I believe seeing a few nice HG, if not highest graded copies of Flash Gordon's in next week's upcoming CC Event Auction. Need to check, but if I remember correctly, they were also still going at relative low low bids when I last saw them. Then again, maybe they need to have another Flash Gordon movie (or maybe even a Flesh Gordon movie would do ) in the works in order to get today's generation of deep pocketed crypto investors and sports cards traders willing to throw their wild and crazed FOMO new found money for these books.
  23. Great early gold stuff For all of you either Crackajack Funnies or Less Than 10 Slabbed Copies aficionados on these boards here, some good news for you then!!! Was going through the big CC Event Auction and happen to notice a small, but nice HG sampling of Crackajack Funnies, case in point here: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/820379 Hard to beat a nice HG copy of Crackajack 26 featuring the second appearance of the Owl with these vibrant colors and also the second highest graded copy out of the total of only 6 that has been slabbed to date so far. Not much chance of getting the CGC 9.6 graded copy because that's the Church copy and that one there is definitely not coming to market anytime soon, as it's been locked up in a personal collection ever since its sale way back in 2003. So this is probably going to be the best you are going to get in a long while, and no idea where it's going to finish up at, but definitely hard to beat the current price of only a big whopping $26 for now. Ok, my bad here as it looks like there are other single highest graded copies of this Crackajack run (with even fewer copies slabbed in total) that's going for even lower price points for now than this "go to your banker for a 2nd mortage" amount of only $26. I guess it's either because bidders are refusing to participate in this Event Auction because of the 15% BP on the Kentucky Collection portion of this auction, or is there going to be the usual run up on the last day? Especially since the Crackajack Funnies run have been going for either big premuins or even mutiples to condition guide in the recent Heritage and just completed CL auctions.
  24. Well, the easiest way to think about this is that there's no 15% at all on any of the auction lots on the first 3 days (i.e. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) and then there's the 15% BP on the last 2 days because the Kentucky Collection has all been allocated to Thursday and Friday. What I can't understand is why so many people have such a hard time understanding this and say they are going to refuse to bid in the auction because of it and also seemingly as a form of protest. After all, it's not exactly rocket science that we are talking about here. Foe potential bidders who want to win some books though, this could be a field day for them here as others stay away, especially since I've got a lot of leading bids in on nice GA books right now and they are nowhere even anywhere close to triple digits.
