  1. Yes, it would not surprise me at all if you would have to wait years, if not decades to have your CGC 9.8 graded copies of some of these relatively common hot books like ASM 300 to ever hit the auction block. And yet, the CGC label collectors still continue to line up to pay ridiculous dollars for these kinds of common labels which tends to show up in every single auction.
  2. No, I was not the winner of this copy here as I was not willing to bid more than the $825 winning bid based upon the following analysis which I would tend to agree with:
  3. Surprised in terms of what since it actually sold for only $3,200 by the time it was all said and done? That works out to less than 4X top of guide for a single highest 9.6 graded copy of a GA book comic out from the top recognized pedigree collection out there.
  4. Are you referring to CL or to CC and is this also because you never use a credit card or PayPal as your method of payment for your winnings?
  5. I don't think its mocked up look at the Kane Sig Ummmm.................that's only because the mock up was prepared and done up by Jason Ewert himself.
  6. Very nice With memories of watching the Smurfs TV show from way back in the day, I was seriously thinking of acquiring copies of these first appearance issues when they first appeared in the comic book marketplace several years ago. Now I am glad that I didn't want to fork over that kind of dough as the prices on them have seemingly dropped as more and more copies of these books have surfaced, slabbed, and sold into the marketplace over the years. No more evident than this highest graded copy of the Belgian Edition which sold on CL tonight for only $825: Compared to past sales of lower graded copies which have sold for more than this, looks like a downward trend when compared to the CGC 9.0 graded copy which CC was able to sell for $1,550 in one of their Event Auctions a couple of years ago.
  7. Lou I am not sure if CC changed or not as in the past I did not incur the 3% but this time I did. Here is what their site says: All fee-bearing payment types such as credit card or PayPal will incur a surcharge of 3%. Payment by cash, check, money order, ACH, or wire transfer will not incur a surcharge. This fee only applies to fee-bearing payment types such as credit cards or PayPal, and does not exceed ComicConnect’s cost of processing. Well, that's interesting as I guess they may have updated their 3% credit card/PayPal payment policy when they revamped their auction website then. Unless they are charging the 3% fee at both the front end (i.e. BP to the buyer) and also again at the back end (i.e. SP to the consignor).
  8. Just got another one of those daily emails from CC and it looks like they must be getting their act together in terms of their revamped website. It's only been a few days since the end of their recent Event Auction last week and they are already starting to load up books for their next Event Auction. So far though, it doesn't appear that they've started on the vintage GA books yet for us GA aficionados as it definitely appears on the light side so far. Mostly BA and SA to this point in time and it would appear that somebody must be offloading their HG run of DC books since they already have a pretty complete run of Green Lantern's, Justice League, and Metal Men books in there so far.
  9. Well, if it's that forgettable, than maybe just maybe, Marvel 1 doesn't belong on this esteemed list of yours.
  10. i will second that Wow, what an absolute shocker and totally unexpected, especially since it's coming from you.
  11. Is this the credit card fees that they pass on? Have they changed where if you pay by check or money order, that fee is waived? Other places like CC, Pedigree, Weiss, etc., do the same. I don't believe that CC adds in the 3% credit card fee as a BP to the buyer if they use their credit card to pay for their winnings. I have heard that the 3% credit card fee is taken off the top line gross proceeds or really more of a SP in this case which means that the 3% fee is absorbed by both the consignor and CC on a 90% and 10% split basis respectively. Although I believe the max allowable credit card charge is $2,500 or something like that, but still NO additional BP charge to the winning buyers.
  12. Hey Tim; Definitely my bad as it's easy for me to get confused when it comes to these uber nosebleed grades in the rarified stratosphere where collectors like you tend to hang out in. I am much more of a down to earth type of collector who's stuck in the F/VF Coronavirus infected shallow end of the pool. On a serious note though, it looks like Payette had graded less than 10 of the Allentown books as NM/M and of those had been graded up to 2006, it appears that 2 of them were initially graded as CGC 9.6 (i.e. Batman 6 and Cap 1) and only the Special Edition 1 had come back as a CGC 9.8 graded copy up to that point in time. Makes me kind of wonder how high the other Payette graded NM/M books would grade out as in the end.
  13. Yes 9.4/9.6 nice is supposedly what the Allentown tec 27 copy would grade I guess this is one of the reasons why Payette always had the reputation of being a tough grader as he had graded the Allentown copy of 'Tec 27 as being only a VF/NM copy. Looks like he had several other books graded higher including the Allentown copy of Cap 1 which he had graded out as being a NM/M copy which seems to have been in line with CGC's initial grading of the book, but apparently no longer.
  14. The book seems over-sized. Is it a treasury edition? No, I believe the above copy is Stumbo the Giant's reading copy of 'Tec 27:
  15. Love the colors on this book as it is my absolute favorite cover by a long shot out of the entire very short 8-issue run of the Miss Fury series of books.
  16. Extremely and ecstatically happy to hear this news since it's obvious then that the Dentist no longer has the only Church copy of Action Comics #1.
  17. Well, not surprisingly, it would appear that this copy here managed to do quite well with a rather strong price of $6,200 which is definitely quite a bit more than the $3K+ price range which a couple of mid-grade copies had sold for on Heritage during the past couple of years. It would appear that there seems to be strong continuing demand and interest for what I have called the poor man's version of Suspense 3, as evident by the increasing valuations for this realtively HTF book in the marketplace.
  18. Yes, certainly looks like CC managed to addressed a lot of out concerns that we had expressed on this thread here? I will say though that I did find this new updated version pf their website was constantly dropping their auctions that had just ended into the middle of other auctions that were still running. They definitely did not have this issue before in the past as everything always fell into place properly with the just completed auctions at the top followed by the still opened auctions in "chronological time till end" order. This made it very easy to keep track of multiple auctions as they are about to end. Hope they can make improvements with this aspect of the auction website for their next go round. Of course, it also helps since all of the auction lots were in a vertical line straight down in the past, whereas this new website lists their lots by rows which I guess is just a matter of me getting used to it. Other than that, everything seem to run just fine and love the fact that their auction archives is updated pretty much right away which was definitely not the case before.
  19. Most definitely, and especially in terms of their Auction Archives (i.e. Sold portion) being updated pretty much right away, as opposed to being several Event Auctions behind which was the case in the past.
  20. Now, that's PERFECT and I have moved it into my CC Auction Results sub-directoy which I have in my email account. Now, I can get rid of the one from the other week which didn't have the "Here" link to the individual auction lots. It's nice that they have the entire auction in just the one email now, as opposed to the 5 individual messages which I used to have to save in my auction sub-directory for prior Event Auctions.
  21. Indeed ! Thank you guys at ComicConnect. You mean that I am going to have to start creating Watch Lists for all of the individual books that I want to keep track of. Hey CC: How about simply putting all of the links or individual auction lots when we click into your daily auctions after they have ended, instead of simply sending us to a page that says: "No results found. Try adjusting your filters or search." Although it looks like you now have the current auction results loaded into your Sold Items already , it's definitely hard to remember the individual books you had for each auction without the associated links.
  22. Yes, most definitely as they were my first entry point into the vintage Golden Platinum Age collectible comic book market when I left the new book marketplace in the late 80's and early 90's. Definitely kind of sad though that they haven't gone up in value very much since collectors seem to care a whiole ton more about super heroes who wear their undies on the outside, as opposed to the true roots of the comic book industry.
  23. Why this particular issue and not the other New Comics 7 or New Comics 9 since they were both in significantly higher grades at substantially lower price points? Or do you alrerady have copies of both those 2 earlier issues?
  24. Never underestimate a highest graded SA Marvel key. Still for me, not quite as shicking as this Davis Crippen copy of Millie the Model 2 which managed to fetched $17,925 in a Heritage Auction a couple of years ago:
  25. It was a total shock to me, but I guess not to everybody. Someone paid big money a few years ago for a copy which, at the time, may have been top of the census. But there was a new sheriff in town when this copy surfaced. Yes, I believe the real shock already took place a couple of years ago when a relatively HG copy, but still not into the 9's yet, managed to fetched 5 figures in an auction.
