  1. Nah...........with the current mounting crisis in terms of the supply chain issues, it's really all about that delicious and rather appetizing looking little porker himself. Yes, but definitely less so than the old days as my preference is more towards HTF books at reasonable prices which seldom comes around nowadays. Although I did pick up a raw copy of More Fun 127 (probably in the G/VG range or thereabouts) at a local con a couple weekends ago. Figured it was a reasonable price at the equivalent of $110 USD or something like 1.5X condition guide for the scarcer HTF last issue of More Fun, with a total of still only 4 copies graded and slabbed to date so far. So, I guess it's either rare or possibly a book that most collectors don't figure it's even worth the cost of grading.
  2. Besides the big boys like Cap 1, Bat 1, and the likes, it's also certainly nice to see less popular books like this Porky Pig here go for big dollars: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/four-color-48-porky-pig-dell-1944-cgc-nm-92-off-white-pages/a/122212-15413.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Especially when they are in out of favor genres like funny animals, so good to see this copy here being able to hit 5-figures with a price of $10,800 in this past weekend's Heritage Sunday auction.
  3. No just that there were no recorded sales in that particular grade in the last 90 days. I just took a quick look at GoCollect and they state that the current FMV for a CGC 9.6 graded copy of Silver Surfer 4 is $23K. For all of you Surfer aficonados out there, any idea if this is close to reality or is this on the high side with prices trending back downwards?
  4. I guess it must have been the detached and completely split centerfold that knocked this book down since its front cover image certainly presents much stronger than its assigned CGC grade.
  5. If it was an CC auction, then I would say it was a bad scan or picture because they simply take terrible picturesin terms of their angles with the bottom edges sometimes seemingly falling off or bent and yet the book is perfectly fine when you received it in hand.
  6. Does this mean that the current prices on the SIlver Surfer 4's are way too volatile to be able to even come up with an estimated value?
  7. Nowhere close to MS 5 with only 4 copies graded in CGC 9.8, but this CGC 9.8 graded copy WWBN 32 did managed to hit $70,500 on Friday: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/947977 Noticed the auction description stated that a recent copy in equivalent grade managed to sell for $80K. For all of you WWBN 32 aficonados, any idea where this book managed to sell for $80K as that sounds like a pretty strong price for what is really a third tier Marvel comic book character. Especially since there are already 19 copies graded in this CGC 9.8 highest grade with another 85 knocking right on its door at CGC 9.6 plus some uber HG raw copies still sitting in private collections that haven't come anywhere close to a grader's table yet.
  8. Watched some of the results at the start of today's auction and I would definitely have to agree with you in terms of some of the Subby books. Not sure if the current war in Ukraine might have raised the profile a bit, but this Subby 3 with the Churchill war cover sold for a very strong price: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/939867 Sold for just over $7K or almost 4.5X condition guide and more than 4X what equivalent graded were selling for a few years ago and also well more than double what they had sold for back in 2020.
  9. Thanks!! Wowza! Wowza in terms of the final price or wowza in the fact that the book was unable to garner any further bids during the last few hours of the auction. Hope that $2,111,111 bid that somebody placed earlier in the day was not meant by the bidder as a tracking bid only.
  10. Not sure if this same sentiment would apply in today's marketplace where books are just so expensive that buyers are looking for just that one more reason why they should be willing to mannup by opening their wallets a bit more wider to acquire a book. Especially when you look at the huge price differences being paid nowadays for Direct copies versus Newsstand copies when for decades it was stated that there were no differences in prices being paid.
  11. Well, I guess we got our answer to my question here as @GreatCaesarsGhost's CGC 2.5 graded copy of Bat 1 managed to hit $270K or some $40K more than what CL's CGC 3.0 graded copy managed to fetched a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if the fact that Clark's copy was the scarcer "no dot" variant version accounted for the difference in price, but I am sure it probably did to some extent even though it's pretty much impossible to figure to exactly what extent it did.
  12. Well, as long as it's not missing the front cover, you are good to go on this book here.
  13. Well, as we all knew even back then, it looks like old Jay was right about the Marvel 1 Pay Copy with his major problem being the fact that he had overpaid for the book at the time. Of course, he compounded the problem by cementing his mistake in place, as opposed to most long time comic book collectors who use the benefit and luxury of time to convert their shiort term mistakes into long term big time winners.
  14. I guess this is clearly a sign of how much the current CGC inspired marketplace is really so much more cover centric focused now as compared to the old days prior to CGC coming into place. Detective 33 is definitely much more popular with the long time old school collectors whereas 'Tec 35 has risen in prominence with the CGC generation of classic cover centric focused collectors. I certainly also don't remember 'Tec 33 selling for half of 'Tec 35, but still remember the times prior to CGC when 'Tec 35 was valued at only a fraction (i.e. something like 20% - 25%) of where 'Tec 33 was valued at in the Overstreet Guide. Rather shockingly to my surprise, it looks like even old slow Bob has recognized the rising popularity and value of 'Tec 35 as he's got it at noticeably higher valuations in his guide for grades up to VF 8.0 and then with 'Tec 33 valued slightly higher than 'Tec 35 in the upper two conitions grades in this year's edition of the price guide.
  15. You can look at it in the Heritage archives from back when it was a lowly 6.5 Well, I guess we shouldn't be surprised at all as continuing resubs and upgrades means more monies for all parties involved. Looks like this is the reason why I couldn't find it anymore under the CGC serial number "1031180001" from the scan which @GreatCaesarsGhost had posted because the book is now no longer clumped in with about 20 other no name Universal copies, but instead is now the highest graded by a long shot Signature copy of Batman 1 and CL has now also provided a full back cover scan with Jerry's signature clearly on it: https://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch.asp%3Fwhere%3Dsell%26title%3Dbatman%2B1%26ItemType%3DCB&id=1563310 No surprise that the CGC serial number indicates the books was graded back in the summer of 2011 when it seems to be acknowledged by many to be pretty much the "softest" time period when it comes to CGC grading.
  16. Aman, you pointed it out first, but it took @lou_finemessaging my dumb self to act. To their credit, CC immediately made the change. So a tip of the hat to you guys both. And I cannot forget @woowoo Yes, definite kudos to Aman for being the first one here to spot this scarcer "no dot" variant version for your Bat 1 and point it out to all of us. Just a bit surprised that Vinnie and Fishler didn't spot this right off the bat, but glad to hear that they made the change right pronto when notified. Clark, second word of advice here..............hope you kept that little dot that you scraped off on the Bat 1 instead of tossing it. After today's Action 1 "No.1" auction, you can double down by sending that dot back into CGC for slabbing now and I am sure that CC will be able to cut you another cheque for it by the time it's all said and done.
  17. I saw they added that. The Boards strike again ! Yes, big congrats to Clark and his daughter and certainly well deserved as he's clearly one of the super nice guys on these boards here. Glad to see that CC was able to add that "no dot" notation in on such short notice as it's always best to have potential bidders who are fully informed since this is always the ideal situation to have for all interested parties involved.
  18. Uumm....................remember that we are supposed to buy the label, as opposed to buying the book here.
  19. Especially surprised with respect to the Rangers 26 since this cover is considered by many collectors to be the go to classic GGA cover and the best one out of the entire Rangers run. Definitely would have gone for more in a high profile Signature Auction with better promotion and marketing hype. Especially considering that this is the single highest graded copy to date. Although this $16,800 is indeed a record setting price, it actually looks like a bargain when compared to the no name middle of the run Rangers 29 that sold for $15K right in the next lot after this classic cover Rangers 26. Big congrats to the winner of the Rangers 26 as I believe he got himself a relative steal of a deal compared to what a lot of the other Promise Collection books have sold for.
  20. I don’t get it with Clink. They list a book for a million bucks, but don’t give a back cover. Looks like it fell $5K short of earning the time and trouble for CL to come up with a second back cover scan as that extra work is reserved only for million dollar books and above. Any reason why I can't find the CGC serial number for this copy here since I wanted to check the date it was graded, as I didn't really care for that top portion of the spine on a CGC 7.0 graded copy?
  21. NO PERIOD copy. Clark that's worth double Yes, just read the auction description listing and also watched Vinnie's video and I must say that I am totally surprised that they didn't bothered to mention this key point (well okay.....no point and pun fully intended) as it is clearly scarcer than the copies with the period and hence should command a higher price point. Similarly, I would expect a copy of Marvel 1 with the October date to be worth ore than the one with the overprinted November date on it.
  22. In total agreement with you, especially with this last page here where you see Spidey in full blown action in every single panel of this OA page.
  23. Being biased here since I am not an OA collector myself, I would just have to say it would depend on what those hundreds of books were.
  24. Totally and absolutely agree with both you here, although I will qualify it a bit in terms of converting my "entire collection". I would be more than happy and totally ecstatic if I could find some "lucky buyer" to purchase 100% of all of my 80's and 90's "comic book treasures" so that I can downsize and acquire some of those overpriced smelly oldy moldy books from the GA.
  25. That was a bit lower than I expected, but still respectable. Maybe it would have gone for higher multiples to condition guide if it had been raw like the other Adventures & New Adventures back in February. Then again, those copies were in much lower condition raw grades, so much easier to hit higher and even double digit multiples to condition guide.
