  3. Always nice to see a grail and its collector coming together finally.
  4. From one HUGE Hellboy fan to another I knew out of everyone you would enjoy these the most. Thanks!
  5. They're 9.8s in 9.6 cases. Don't tell anyone.
  6. One of the 9.6s has two 9.8 brothers, so I am okay with this, and the other was just nice to have. But there is never anything wrong with nice 9.6s.
  7. Thank you so much to Abracadabra for a fantastic slabbed book that was superbly packaged for safe delivery, rapidly shipped, and is simply gorgeous. Much appreciated, William!
  8. Hellboy is easy - Dime Press 4 was a prototype cover as the character was gray, was close to what the final Hellboy looked like later on, but San Diego Comic-Con 2 was the first full appearance in a 4-page story that didn't show up again until it was reprinted in the Hellboy: Seed of Destruction TPB. Goon is tough because even folks that worked at Avatar Press have shared they feel the 1st appearance is Dreamwalker 0 as that 5-page story was his first material Powell submitted into their editor before even coming up with Goon 1. But I think CGC states on the label "preview material." I'm not saying the NEC #14 newsletter is not critical - it sure is.
  9. "True first appearance of The Tick" - I hear ya about it being more than just a single image, but the difference between a newsletter and a full comic - I don't know. But it is still a cool Tick item to own for any fan.
  10. The prototype issue - no, have two of those already. So the little guys are covered there. But whomever owns the original art to that cover is a lucky dog! Let me get the box first and then I'll be comfortable saying what it is.
  11. Trust me, when I get my box full o'9.8s back from CGC late this week, Harrison will be well taken care of on his Hellboy books. Then while he is distracted there, I can circle back on the Crow books. It's a tradeoff to buy time. God, i hope Nick's boys love comics. What a collection waiting for them. I feel bad for Harrison
  12. God, i hope Nick's boys love comics. What a collection waiting for them. Thanks, Sean. The boys already go through Disney comics that board members sent as gifts ( ), so all signs are good so far.
  13. Some very kind fellow Crow fans sent me a gift today.
  14. ...and a 9.8 guidebook . Barrington. I wonder what other "famous quotes" he can make up about books like he did with Dime Press 4. That same quote from his postings went around the web fast, folks wanted to believe in it so much.
  15. I saw no feedback was left by either party too, not mentioning the seller hasn't left one since May of 2009. If I buy a $600 book, the seller is going to leave me a feedback. I called and spoke with eBay Safety & Trust the other day and pointed this out to them. If you click on the 0 bidder's username, it will remain truncated, but it shows that account won 3 books. Interesting, as everyone else has left their feedback and received feedback. The eBay rep finally admitted,"Wow - this looks like a shill." We'll see if they do anything about it.
  16. Shill didn't win, but it sure did its damage. In the end, it appears it was three solid bidders.
  17. The Crow 1 CGC 9.6 auction is ending soon. 1) Will the infamous 0 bidder take it again like he/she/it did with the Crow 1 CGC 9.8? 2) Will eBay even investigate the 0 bidder who has won three items from the same seller, yet neither has ever left feedback for each other? 3) Will we see both books in a Heritage, ComicLink, or other sales venue as a "flip" sale? These are the days of our collecting lives.
  18. There was some controversy regarding paper_only and potentially trimmed books a little while back. Was that the Fantastic Four Silver Age thread?
  19. You bad man. But, I have a heart of gold too . Yes, you do! Thanks for the help on that thing with the thing. Ya know?
  20. You bad man. Can't help it, I'm from New Hampshire . There are these 4 guys driving in a car together, 1 from Maine, 1 from Vermont, 1 from Massachusetts, and 1 from New Hampshire. Down the road a bit, the man from Maine starts throwing bags of potatoes out the car window. The man from NH asks what are you doing that for? The man from Maine says, "We have so many potatoes just lying around our state and I'm just sick and tired of seeing these things." Down the road a bit more, the man from Vermont starts throwing jugs of maple syrup out the car window. The man from NH asks what are you doing that for, and the man from Vermont says, "We have so many of these jugs just lying around our state and I'm just sick and tired of seeing these things." And moments later, you guessed it... The man from New Hampshire throws the man from Massachusetts out of the window.
