  1. No worries Jesse. I saw it as excitement to participate. The question I was going to ask relates to Killer Croc. In his early appearances, he wanted the underworld bosses to call him by another name. 1) What was the name? 2) What Batman issue did this occur?
  2. I'll yield to the man with the Green Lantern question as I actually want to know this answer.
  3. Hey, those were my neighbors a few years ago, so respect the clan. Thinking of a question or two now, so give me a few minutes.
  4. Thor Tray of Hostess Fruit Pies Avengers 167? http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix2/dingalinghostess.htm
  5. Thanks. QUESTION: What Valiant Comics character was created in Muskogee, OK? BTW, if nobody gets this by end-of-day, I'll throw out another question so the thread doesn't drop too far down the list.
  6. Doctor Poison (Princess Maru ) in Sensation Comics #2?
  7. You think so? On Comic Link, I have seen Saga of Swamp Thing 37 CGC 9.8's doing fairly well, though nothing like Sandman 1 CGC 9.8 copies. Glad you mentioned 25 as many miss that 1st cameo appearance. I would have grabbed it anyway since it is in the Moore run.
  8. I bought the Absolute series so I wouldn't have to keep taking the Sandman books out. FABULOUS!!!! The price is a killer if you had bought them retail, but people have been posting brand new copies or hardly read starting at $50 to $75 and it is selling at that rate right now. If you can break out the money, I'd grab them and enjoy the ride of your life.
  9. Man, that was a good one and silly to get too focused on the Hellblazer theme. Great catch!
  10. Hey, at least we talked about one of my favorite characters. Kind of weird to have a "Dallas" TV show moment that all stories you read before - they never happened. But with that answer, it should be a double-winner thanks to Mr. Wein.
  11. May be a trick question, but would it be when Alan Moore took the series over in 20 but really started his take on the character as a creature versus a prior human being in issue 21? Also, very interesting entry under wiki concerning this question: ======================== In issue #6, editor Len Wein declared, in response to a published letter, that Alec never had a brother and that every Swamp Thing series story after issue #21 of the original series never happened. The letter, however, questioned why Swamp Thing had reverted, which had already been explained in the Challengers of the Unknown run. A later column pointed this out, so they said they would not deliberately contradict it, even though they would still go from the assumption that it never happened. ========================
  12. Now that is one of my ultimate independents, but I gave up a long time ago. Way to go!! (worship) (worship)
  13. Can you imagine? What price do you even shoot for with a book of that caliber? If a 9.8 has sold as high as $25K, what could a 9.9 bring in?
  14. I knew you would fall over into the "dying cockroach" pose when you read this.
  15. And when will the strange postings start up like they did with The Dentist? 1) Who owns it? 2) Where do they live? 3) What part of the house is it in? 4) Combination to safe please?
  16. I had a feeling that answer was coming about The Dentist. Just having fun with another topic. That is just an amazing accomplishment coming into a Hulk 181 CGC 9.9 and wondering which country to purchase with it.
  17. So we were discussing the topic of 9.9 and 10.0 books, and someone asked if Hulk 181 ever broke the 9.8 barrier. Shockingly enough, there is one 9.9 now in the census. Let me guess, The Dentist owns it, right?
  18. , I guess now is a good time to upgrade while prices are reasonable. Tell me about it. Key books have been popping up all over eBay, Heritage, and others that I bet would never have left a personal collection otherwise.
  19. Oh, trust me, don't ever be impressed. That 9.6 only brought in around $15, which was a bummer.
  20. Anyone know what a Spawn 1 CGC 9.8 should go for now? I made the mistake of selling off my 9.6 copy last year, so if I am going to replace it may as well jump it up a notch.
  21. I have a feeling Spidey is going to overtake Spawn in his own message thread. Come on folks, don't let that happen. Although, I think the Spider-Man issues were the largest production run next to X-Men 1 A, B, C, D, E covers. Anyone have the publication stats for these books? I've seen some incredible information posted on this forum when it comes to distribution details.
  22. My Platinum, Gold w/ UPC and Chromium will always be favorites in my collection! I don't care how many #1's are out there! And I have NEVER owned a copy of X-Force #1. Was is just as big as these? All were massive distribution issues. Count yourself as lucky, though they really were trying to find another x-book focus that had potential. Just the big-shoulders, tiny-legs artwork was distracting.
  23. In reading through this interesting post, which 90's mass-produced copper do you think shows up most in the average collection? 1) Spawn #1 - I'm covered as I have doubles of 1-13 because I always had hope the character would come around again, and enjoyed these foundation issues. 2) Spider-Man #1 - no matter the different covers. I still keep my Platinum tucked away. 3) X-Men #1 - any of the many covers. 4) X-Force #1. I'd vote Spawn, but there are plenty of McFarlane Spidey fans holding onto their Green, Silver, Gold copies for dear life.
