  1. I like your suggestion as to categorize everyone together as probation members versis distinguishing root cause makes it easier to determine what the issue was that got them on the list.
  2. Thanks so much to my on-going hero, skinny_white_boy, for another super transaction. Always packed super-safe, quickly shipped, and grading spot-on. Thanks Josh for always making every transaction a great one!
  3. And I of course posted my box findings in the General Thread... Sorry guys... HOLY! Those are some nasty looking books. Sorry for what happened.
  4. Or get baited into one anywhere. -slym ( ) I don't want to see anyone 'bating anyone else... slym's a 'bater?
  5. Come on over to the "other thread" and we'll let you know.
  6. Or get baited into one anywhere. -slym ( ) WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
  7. Yeah, depending on the post office and knowledge of the staff, you are either going to be told "Yes" or "No" on comics going media mail. I had the same post office, different workers, tell me mixed policies. Go figure!
  8. So are the pictures of the recent long box arrivals going to be in this thread? I am sure these will contain all the missing $5 DC books.
  9. PhiGam. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120407347192 Same exact photo (DSCN0677.jpg), just $20 more and a grade bump to boot. Oh, and the same goofy seller. I love the threat I received via PM as well. "drawing lines in the sand against me over this is probably something you'll wish you hadn't done someday." Class act!
  10. Would you buy a book that was sold with a stock photo so you cannot judge for yourself ahead of time its condition? I doubt it. there were no stock photos, ya dunce. it was clearly my own photo of the same book, just a different copy.... Take it to the other thread, Brainiac. Keep your "dunce" comment to yourself as I am not the one that got caught using a stock photo.
  11. I just said that above to keep this thread clean.
  12. (thumbs u It must be the photo OR a detailed description. And no PhiGam, I did not report your listing. But you trying to state the same photo was a different photo sure didn't help any rather than just correcting the problem. Especially when it was the same exact photo, including the naming convention. Now, any further discussion on this needs to go into the KEEP THE OTHER THREADS CLEAN, as this is for the probation list.
  13. Would you buy a book that was sold with a stock photo so you cannot judge for yourself ahead of time its condition? I doubt it.
  14. Yup. That was just weak to try that on here after all the heat that has been going on with odd sales behavior.
  15. I saw this and I will say one thing I'm going to be extra careful when I pull the trigger looks like a lot of people here are out for money and not the love of the hobby. It is sad as there is no reason for some of this garbage going around lately.
  16. So now folks are using stock photos in their listings when selling raw books on the board? And, when they list the same book on eBay, it was noted as a 9.6 condition, but on here they list it as a 9.8 condition?! Are some sellers losing their mind with all the things going on lately? Stock photo AND higher condition listing
  17. Is there a general complaints forum? In general right now, they're discussing National Parks. I'd hate to interrupt! I don't see another forum here even close to this, as CS may find himself on the famous list and this is the best place for everyone to chime in. IMHO. It is called "KEEP THE OTHER THREADS CLEAN." http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1976814&fpart=348
  18. you really think so? My take has always been that Alan Moore came to his own writing style and approach on his own, 3000 miles removed from our American comics, reading them from afar, absorbing their motifs and genres and creating his personal take on the absurdities and strengths and weeknesses of the medium on his own. Im not even sure he was reading Millers DD as his stories early on all played off the Silver Age DC motifs. And if he was up to date on 80s comics, his voice was well established long before than. This is my opinion. If Moore has at some point given kudos to Miller over the years, ooops. I didn't even catch MR.C was implying Moore learned from Miller. No way! Moore is a force of creativity all by himself.
  19. Since this is a group thread meant to resolve sales on this board, in addition to identifying probation members, I really think we need to have hard-fast rules that everyone is very well aware of. Maybe a sticky at the top to lay out the rules. To me, there is NO ROOM for scamming on a board that is supposed to be close-knit and ensuring we avoid the situations that come up on eBay and other venues. If we do not take a harder stance on such behavior, and clearly communicate "SCAMMER BEWARE," this is not going to get reigned in quickly. What if one time on the probation list allows for you to come off ONCE authorized by the impacted party. Two times means this must be reviewed by at least a set number of board members to determine if: 1) A situation came up that allows for forgiveness one more time, but only one more time. 2) Permanent banning from buying or selling. We are never going to eliminate all scamming, but clearly documented rules and policies is going to ease the burden more. When Connor/CAP Freak did his recent scam, there were quite a few asking "What are the rules" because we just didn't know. I say since we are policing ourselves right now, and we DO NOT want to force the mods to take control or shut down the sales area, let's jump on this quickly and start down a solid path.
