Here are the rules. Please read them carefully. There will be 4 rounds with 5 books per round. After the deadline for the signup thread has ended, I will start a new thread in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section, scans of the first 5 books will be posted, and I will start a PM thread between myself and each participant. Be sure to use THIS PM thread to submit your grades every round. I will post a list for the books in the thread where the books are posted for each round. Please copy and paste that list into our PM, and add the grades for each book. Only CGC grades (numerical) will be accepted. Non CGC grades like fine+ or Very fine- will not be accepted. Be sure to follow the threads that the books are posted in. This is the only way you will know when the next round starts. There will be no update when the next round begins sent to our PM thread. All of the threads with the books and the results will be posted in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section. You will have 4 days to get your grades in. After I record your grades, I will reply to the PM thread so you know that your grades have been recorded. Only grades from .5 to 9.8 will be accepted. Grades of 9.9 and 10.0 that are received, will be recorded as a 9.8 Please do not bump the PM for any reason other than submitting your grades. Nobody will be allowed to change their grades. Do not discuss your grades with others in the thread until the round is closed. Also, please do not ask any questions about the books publicly or privately (by sending me a PM) . If I am provided any special notes from CGC, I will share them in the thread. If anyone fails to submit their grades for a round, or do not submit grades for all of the books in a round, their participation in the contest will be terminated. You will be able to participate in the next contest. After the 4 days are up and the round is closed, I will post scans of the books in CGC holders to reveal their grades, and include the graders notes for the books. A new thread will be started to show the results of each participant. The results thread will most likely be started the next day. There will be a new thread started for the next round. This thread will most likely be started within an hour after the prior round has ended. 0 points is the best score one can achieve. 1 point will be added to your score for each grade that is higher or lower than the actual grade. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 4.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 6.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 5.0, your score for that book is 0. CGC will be awarding Grading Credit. $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.

@Ryan. I did e-mail the SS Supervisor and the SS Director Friday afternoon. I have yet to hear back from them. I expect this is due to Megacon. Most likely, this is why customer service never answered you. I will bump the e-mail Monday.

This in from out busy, Database Specialist at 3:45 AM this morning. <<DiscoPastry Woman Woman #157 (1942 series) should notate the first appearance of Egg Fu. >> This has now been added. twoseezy Similar to Wonder Woman, Joker, Catwoman, (Sensation #1, DC #40 and #122 respectively), and many other great characters, the below books should be given the designation “first cover appearance of _____” 1. Strange Tales #118 - Dr. Strange Depicted in the bottom 1/4 of the book with his name displayed prominently. He is also holding the Eye of Agamotto, a key item in the character’s mythos. More than a floating head that is for sure! 2. New Gods #2 - Darkseid Depicted with his name displayed prominently. He is at the forefront and drawn larger than any of the posse of characters behind him. Much more than a tiny floating head. 3. Amazing Spider-Man #51 - Kingpin Depicted prominently on the cover. 4. Captain Marvel #28 - Thanos Depicted prominently on the cover. "1st Kingpin cover" has now been added to ASM #51. The first recognized cover appearance of Thanos is Captain Marvel #26 Dr. Strange & Darkseid's first cover appearances will have to be discussed with the other graders. <<Nsschenks How old does a comic have to be to get a "classic cover" notation? I feel like Batman #423 could definitely qualify, in terms of books from more recent eras. 35 years old, and there really isn't anything else about the issue that drives its popularity.>> Most of CGC's "Classic cover" label designations come directly from Overstreet. But otherwise, there's no leading authority or when books should be added to that list. Batman #423 and certain other "Modern" books are certainly well-know enough and have been homaged dozens of times, Whether that's enough for them to attain a "classic cover" notation is up for debate. I'd certainly be open to hearing opinions from multiple people. <<jjfversion1 Any chance we can get some notes for Sentai #2, as it is the first comic appearance of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? I don’t believe any MMPR comics have that noted on the label yet, so hopefully it is an easy addition. I have been wanting to send my copy in for grading for quite some time, but have been waiting to see if there will ever be a label update. I am not going to let comics general get overrun with threads regarding the 2 current issues. Unless something new arises, There will be no more spinoff threads allowed. While we do allow criticism, tread very lightly singling out current, individual employees of our company. I have allowed some talk regarding this in the 2 main threads. Creating a thread with the sole purpose of doing what I have mentioned above will not be tolerated.
