  1. Most of what's being done today is new and pretty good! Of course, you can still get huge lots very inexpensively - it's really just the 50's and lower that is hard/pricey. I've been finding that the Archie's and Uncle Scrooge material currently out really seems to be more fun to read than I would have expected. Hmmmm.....better post a cover to keep with the thread! This one was very topical and the story was actually a little chilling - especially in hindsight. And....to leave on a funny note:
  2. The issues printed today are new material. There are some reprints in the digests, but there is also plenty of new material as well. I've been pleasantly surprised at how fun it is to read the issues and re-acquaint myself with the old gang from my youth. Most modern collectors just don't have exposure to Archie material as many comic shops order low numbers or not at all - pity.
  3. Life with Archie #2 - if anyone can post that...... it's "mind-snap" beautiful.
  4. And let's end this crazy series of posts with a classic "Archie pull" by Mr. DeCarlo.. If anyone has them - check out your back issues of "Life with Archie" - some SUPER nice covers there!
  5. Not an Archie, but a fun Homage to the infamous "Beat Off" cover.
  6. Okay.... I better post an OLD one. Here's a little Elvis (1st in comics?)
  7. Girls, bikini's, treasure..... All this cover needs is a case of beer and a big screen TV to be perfect Dan Parent - once again proving he is THE artist for Veronica.
  8. Here's a recent infinity cover - I'm not sure how many (if any) others exist for the Archie books??? There's just over 10,000 Archie books out there - so I'm a little "shy" on a complete set
  9. My wife *really* likes this one! (I'll be lucky if it's still in one piece when I get home tonight!)
  10. Don't you hate it when someone draws on an old comic!? I mean really. Who would draw a funny mustache on some poor comic character? How about the artist?
  11. Earlier, someone was asking about Clyde Didit. I'm not sure, but I think they must have been trying to create some sort of "Alfred E. Neuman" thing. Here's a Josie cover referencing him.
  12. This one I have to post because: 1) I'm a bit of a Dan Parent fan. 2) I bought the original art for this issue! 3) I also bought the original art for the next halloween cover which is even BETTER!
  13. Okay - I better post an "old" one too. This is the issue with Dan DeCarlo's first Archie work.
  14. Here are a couple of sweet ones! (I had to post something after that last cover that was more innocent!) And another....
  15. Those old covers are great, but let's not forget all the new ones that we've seen lately! There seems to be some great things happening in Archie (and some odd things too). I just pulled about 50 covers from the 60's to present and decided to do so around certain "themes" (technology, hippy, etc). Here's one cover that might be a contender with that old Betty & Me for "risque"
  16. Here are some books that aren't quite so old, but which I like for various reasons: First Magica Christmas cover -- very, very rare on Disney books! The 60's were all about the space race (and other stuff). I like to think of this as the book closest to having psychedelic coloring for Uncle Scrooge (it's a stretch, but hey! This one was a just a book that I was hoping to get in better grade - those tricky black covers! And....some much more modern books. Yet the 310 is really scarce as far as I can tell. Nice painted covers. (and, yes....ouch on the 309 corner....one day I'll replace it)
  17. Well...my first and foremost love are the duck books. I could never afford them even when they were less expensive, but lately I've had the good fortune to get a few "dream" books that I always wanted - not the least of which was my US#1 - man....I'd stay awake at night dreaming of owning one when I was 11. I used to read the Overstreet Guide at bed and memorize all the books and prices ..... sheesh... what a geek I *was* Here are my "older" favourites.
