  1. That's about what I'm thinking... 8.5 at the lowest. Not bad for 34 year old book I bought off the rack as wee lad.
  2. This is my original copy I bought back in the day... always knew it would be worth something because at the time Cable was incredibly popular but so was Rob Liefeld. The Mcfarlane cover is just icing on the cake. What would you guys estimate this grade would be pre-press and cleaning?
  3. Thanks for the response. i've heard some folks say that they have better luck when submitting books from the same decade and was wondering if anyone else had that experience. I wasn't talking about the different tiers... I should have been clearer.
  4. Hguys still making my way through my boxes at my parents house and came across this one. Read the HELL out of this back in the day as you can see. This book came out before I was born so I must've bought it at a comic store when I was a kid. Loved fights between these two and hopefully we'll see them slug it out on the big screen at some point. What do you think this would grade at? 1.5? 2.0? What say you? I promise I have better looking books than this!
  5. I've submitted to CGC three times and about to send in my fourth submission. I typically submit at least five books per order and right now I've tried to submit books from the same decade at least. Haven't sent anything older than 2000 in yet by I have some books from the 90's, 80's, 70's and even a couple from the 60's that I want to submit. Is it wise to keep the submissions for each order to be around the same time period or does it not matter? What say you?
  6. Thanks for the grades fellas. I'm more than likely going to stick this in Mylar and call it a day.
  7. Hey guys, I’m home at my Parent’s place for Thanksgiving and digging through my stash of comics that I have here. Came across a few i plan on submitting to CGC but want to get a ball park to see if it’s worth it. Here’s one of my oldest comics that I have. What would u guys estimate the potential grade would be?
  8. This is what I was afraid of... thanks for the clarification. I have to think about what grades I'd be fine with for my next submission.
  9. When you submit books for prescreening can you set a different minimum grade for each issue in the order or do all of the books have to have the same minimum grade?
  10. Oh I found that out already... posted these on reddit and got a REALLY strong reactio which is why I came here They're Whitmans according to the CLZ app as well.
  11. Forgive me if this is a dumb question but are these Whitmans? Found these in a bunch of books I got from an auction last year that I fnally got around to cataloging today. May have more.
  12. CGC won't honor the signature even if they are the one cracking the slab? Not sure what kind of paint was used for the siganture... it was THIS book https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fk3i6bx0mb2ub1.jpg That particular one isn't mine, that's the same book I got though in a 9.6
  13. So a buddy of mine went to San Diego Comic Con this year and picked up a signed book for me that that he immediately submitted for grading. Unfortunately he didn't also get the book pressed and the book came back a 9.6... one of the few copies that came back less than a 9.8, one even going for a 9.9. I want to resubmit the book and get it cracked, pressed and regraded but is that wise? Can getting it pressed affect the siganture? Does CGC's in house pressers do this? Also does anyone know any good pressers that will crack a slabbed book safely in the Los Angeles area? Thanks!
  14. Thanks for all of the answers guys. I'm in the process of getting a lot of my keys pressed and slabbed and wanted to know best practices. My first printing of Batman Killing Joke that I bought over 30 years ago is another one I want to prep for slabbing.
  15. I shipped my first batch ever of 9 modern books around July 6th. They were entered into the system on the 19th, got the part pf the submission back last week Aug 4th, the second part, the book that I got pressed, is already shipped and should be arriving tommorow.
  16. Take a comic like Venom Lethal Protector number one with it's "hard" card stock cover. It seems like pressing could damage these comics but I could be wrong. What say you?
  17. fair enough, I didn't read that part... he did knock The Hulk out with one punch. That list is still off though. Silver Surfer is easily Thor/Hulk level for example.
  18. Yeah Iron Man was in the wrong class too. They had him in there with Hercules, The Hulk and Thor and above the Thing, Collossus and Sasquatch. I used to obsess over strength levels when I was younger and when comics paid attention to stuff like this. Now they just don't give a mess. The Thing is one of the strongest folks IN that group. Namor was only stronger than him in water and he was DEFINITELY stronger than Sasquatch and Thundra. There was a comic where Sasquatch and The Thing were facing off and he admitted himself that he wasn't as strong as Ben. I think it was in one of the Infinity series...
  19. I have similar questions. How much more could a clean and press bump up a grade?
  20. That's the plan... and flipping some hot modern books that I have that I know won't have any long term value. That said, I'm not gonna go crazy slabbing books. Most of my older books are back East at my parents' place and I'll have a better idea once I get back East and inventory those books as well.
  21. Hey folks I've been collecting comics for over 40 years and have amassed a collection of nearly 20,000,000 comics on two coasts. Finally getting around to organizing and appraising my collection and looking to get some keys graded as well as buy, sell and trade others. Should have done this a long time ago. Glad to meet everyone.
