  1. I'd tend to agree, although I believe almost all DC keys are undervalued and will see similar, if not better, appreciation than their Marvel counterparts now that DC has gotten their heads out of their #$$#$ and have a movie slate for the next 7 years.
  2. There are fewer and fewer auctions -- and, conversely, more and more BINs -- for key Silver books as the market has now become a seller's market. There are still many collectors out there hungry for a chance to own an "entry level" AF15, and the window on affordable, unrestored copies of AF15 underneath $7,500 is closing. So, yes, it's a lot for a .5, but the alternative is buying a 3.0 blue for twice as much, which is unaffordable to many. So entry level buyers are thinking, "buy the .5 [or 1.0/1.5/2.0] or get left behind at the station." That's my story. Used the same logic when I bought my 2.5 last September for $7,500. Did the research, saw the dramatic climb upward and decided that now was the time to buy before it became (at least for me) illogical to spend so much. Funny, I already want to upgrade. Too true. I've never been a huge Spiderman fan, but as a key 1st appearance fan I've always wanted to own a copy...then the book skyrocketed (AGAIN) and quickly escaped what I was willing to part with for a decent copy. So, I jumped on this NG for $1,000 before it left the stratosphere. I'm pretty sure I can double that $1K now...or more, even if this one is a coverless copy. The market for copies like this is pretty large relative to the market for a 1.0, which would fetch $5K+ now. There aren't many funny book collectors that can spend that kind of cash on a single book.
  3. Yes, he was killed in his first appearance. Quite comically I might ad. If you want to read the story pick up a reader of Shazam #8 So, I guess that makes it two comics in which he appears And if you want to read his origin story pick up Shazam #4...
  4. Who said that? I believe Mike asked and Walt said if they keep up with the GOTG movies he could see it go as high a Hulk 181. Hulk 271 is getting a bump as I now see raw NM copies selling between $200 - $300. Rocket may be popular with the kids these days, however, I just don't see him being on the same level with Wolverine no matter how many GOTG movies they pump out. The book will still be a Bronze age key for a while, but no where near Hulk 181. Exactly, Rocket is more trending with toys and younger generations, not established collectors who like Wolverine. Kids are not going to spend $300 on a comic book. YET...rule of 25?
  5. I wish he would have drawn a spider-roach on that one...
  6. I quite agree… I mean that’s not what makes them "keys" – unless they were already keys (important ones) to begin with. I agree. Keys are keys. First issues of all time greats; spiderman, hulk, xmen, avengers, and even thor and iron man. Key villains like doom, Loki... We are now creating keys based on movie or tv hype. If you appear or are rumored to appear your first appearance is now a key. plastique, shark man, angel dust... I agree with this...keys are keys. But those true keys are bolstered by the movies. And the movies are artificially inflating feaux keys as well. It's just plain crazy right now and I don't see an end...
  7. With the success of the movies, the pool of buyers is only going to continue to grow. They may not have ever read the source material or have an LCS subscription, but the desitrability to collect the true keys will still be there...and I think it'll continue to grow as long as good movies keep getting made. Now make a few duds...and we'll see...
  8. How do you "work on leveling" those characters up? Are you buying covers to be able to level them up or just focusing on the fights where you have the opportunity to win those specific covers?
  9. The Annihilation storyline would tie GOTG, Thanos, Knowhere, Inhumans together reaaaaaaal nice...
  10. Bruce, what's the significance of Suicide Squad #23? Awesome pull on the 9.8 SS#64 and MS#32!!! Spiderman-on-Tilt - that's just a stupidly awesome haul!!

  18. Add jayglate to your block list. He bought a CGC Signature Series book from me…then submitted a claim stating that "Its just unverifiable and couldn't authenticate it. Also there are no seals on it". Don't let him buy your CGC books…he obviously doesn't know how the whole CGC grading/verification/hermetically sealed book thing works...
