  1. CGC will not own the company. They will be sister companies. It is CCG that is buying Matt's company. Classics only works on comics, unless they spread out to coins and cards, the issue is only relevant with CGC items...so the relationship is there, between the two parts of the umbrella company. You can try and spin it as if it's not...but they didn't "acquire" classics because they would help the coin/card business. BOOM
  2. CGC will not own the company. They will be sister companies. It is CCG that is buying Matt's company. Who owns CGC?
  3. Their reputation is already. Extra long turn around time, grading that is never consistent, missing trimming, GA grade bump, and the list goes on. Do not act like they have some amazing reputation, they just dont have a competitor. So running a company like is acceptable as long as we can all make a few bucks.
  4. OMG are you referring to the obvious fact that nothing has changed in the hobby besides Matt's address. One sane boardie. John, I think what concerns people is the fact that this is now a service CGC has added because they want to make more money. They want a piece of that pie. Having said that I would expect the rates to probably increase from what ever rate Classics is currently charges. Back to the conflict: It's logical to think if CGC is going to sell you a service for $xx.00 that will suppossedly improve your potential grade they will want you to see results for that service. Otherwise, why would you continue to buy it? With that in mind, I can see how people would be concerned that every book psssing through the new on site upgrade department will it be looked at with the same scrutiny as a book that has not. Basically, there will be an incintive for books pressed there to get a better grade. That incintive being repeat business. I'm sure CGC will say graders still will never know which books have or have not undergone the in house pressing, but people outside of CGC are understandably have their doubts. As far as turn around times, I've heard complaints that Classics takes a while as it is. I would expect customers that want the "works" will simply have to wait a time similar to what the combined time of the individual companies totals now...or more. Let John rant a bit longer please.
  5. This has nothing to do with CVA...and everything to do with PCS. And attempt #3 to get us to swallow it. Yep. And I bet it works this time. It will. Matt Nelson is heralded by these boards.
  6. This has nothing to do with CVA...and everything to do with PCS. And attempt #3 to get us to swallow it. Nick, half the members here already swallowed it to the sack. The PGM for instance, "can I press this", "you should press that". I still collect for fun, but half the boards are flippers. CGC is smart to grab that cash, their reputation is already krap being turnaround times are 6 mos. and counting.
  7. My book is not here BOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Actually, I think I lost the receipt
  8. Fast track moderns should be graded - I've already received the first batch back. Was a BA SS book. Thanks for the reply, I have hope that one day it will arrive.
  9. I fast tracked a book at NYCC. How long are we looking? Its BA by the way
  10. Yeah, aside from a few SS books, I will save everything for somewhere they will be doing onsite grading. I am going to SS a book in NYC. I hope to see it within 7 months
  11. $1400 in the last C-Link auction. Good flip potential, I wonder how many will not get through CGC fast enough to see those prices? Actually the longer at CGC the better off the seller will be...when pricing is $2,500 in 6 weeks from now and $3,000 in the spring. Patrick this isn't undisclosed pressing, why such the hate on? Jim I stated it is a huge flip Jim? And it is not as much a hate on, as it is a recipe for disaster. I know that alot of people are making good money, but those people know the gravy train has a caboose. The part that bothers me is the "TV fan, turned collector" is not as knowledgeable. So if and when it does drop, how many people will be out hudreds and thousands of dollars? I view it as short term benefit for the hobby, but ultimately lead to people feeling shafted. I want to see the hobby enjoy continued growth Jim, not cash grab bullsheet like the death of superman.
  12. Bingo. There is no other business that would survive this type of delay. And really astonishing is the lack of financial compensation, why the heck should I have to pay full price when the company can not meet their own deadlines. Any other industry there would be penalties for the delays.
