There are different ways that one could slice and dice the grading contest results over the last 6 grading contests to come up with cumulative rankings. The approach I took was to come up was to rank all participants based on their average score over 4 rounds.
If all 6 contests to date allowed everyone to participate in all rounds, I would have set the minimum participation level equal to 3 contests worth of participation, however, given the limitations of the 1st contest, I decided to set the minimum participation level equal to 2.75 contests in order to qualify for the various award categories below.
Without further adieu, following are the "MVP", "Diamond Club", and "Honor Roll" award winners based on performance through the first 6 CGC grading contests:
You'll notice that in the rankings above, I also show the ranking based on an alternative ranking approach shared by zzutak in another thread, where zzutak applied the following ranking approach that only gives weight to top 10 finishers: "... I decided to compare the Top-10 finishers in each of the first six CGC Quarterly Grading Contests. I awarded 10 pts for a 1st Place, 9 pts for a 2nd Place, and so on (down to 1 pt for a 10th Place). When there were multiple-player ties, I awarded each player in the tied group the number of points corresponding to the best place occupied. For example: a three-player tie for 4th-6th Place would earn each player 7 points; a four-player tie for 6th-9th Place would earn each player 5 points; a five-player tie for 8th-12th Place would earn each player 3 points...". The results from zzutak's points ranking system are generally in line with the more inclusive (and data intensive) ranking system that I applied (especially for the top 10 ranked finishers, as one would expect).
Congrats to Squirrel Guy and all other award winners!
A few additional thoughts based on contest results through the first 6 rounds:
1. 391 participants have submitted grades for 1 or more rounds
2. 99 participants have submitted grades for 2.75+ contests, and thus qualified for the awards above. The average grade for those 99 participants ranges from 16.7 points per contest (i.e. per 4 rounds) for Squirrel Guy to 46.7 points per round for the 99th ranked qualifying participant.
3. To summarize, the average grades at or around the bounds of each award (and non-award) category: for the 1st, 11th, 51st, and 99th qualifying participants, the average grades were 16.7, 22.3, 29.4, and 46.7.
spoon, was there another contest I missed? I appreciate the hard work. I definitely need to do the next one.

Interesting. I would still give that Sub a 2.5 all day long, and that Showcase just short of a 6 with those creases? I feel that book will hurt a lot of us. I know it's pretty clean otherwise but the length of those creases. I went 4.5 and could see 5.0, tough book.

Lots of fun….did ok this round. 1 🎯….can’t believe the SSWS w a sub crease realized a 6.5!
thanks Mike.It had a subscription crease? Yikes. I am missing a lot of this. New strategy for next time. Not sure what it is yet lol, but it’ll be new.

Darn, I used my phone for the entirety of this round. I am now at my computer and seeing I may have over graded everything lol. Don't trust your phones.

Oh no! The is bad? I thought I was at least .5 off all my books and I got a clover. I thought I was going to have 5 points or less this round. Looks like I AM rusty from missing the last 2 contests.

On the Swamp Thing I gave a 7.0 but can see 7.5. It’s not just a tear, it almost should be considered a small missing piece. A regular tear would not be as bad a hit.
surprised the journey got a 4.0 as the 3 missing pieces total accumulation puts it as a pretty big missing junk. I get the other total Accumulation of defects is lower, but that’s still pretty big missing piece accumulation.
Still lots to learn and these contests help for sure.

On the Surfer I was considering the edge wear as a printing defect. It looks to me like a printing defect and I thought that would not affect grade. Ouch. From 3rd place to who knows where I am now.

Grades in. I find I'm spending most of my time trying to tell what I am seeing or not seeing in the photos. Especially with the high grade books where every little defect matters. I just want to handle a few of them for a closer inspection lol. No fault of the contest of course, the photos look great and for how we are doing this we all have the same disadvantages.

Sorry, just saw the message. I made a selection. If it comes back again to me a third I will pass it. 2 prizes is more than enough and I am grateful.

Thanks so much everyone. Thanks @CGC Mike, I imagine this has been a lot of work and time. Much appreciated. It is my first contest and I am very happy that I got to participate. I am surprised with my own results. I have been handling, selling and grading my own comics on a small level on and off for over 30 years (since I was 13). Back when I was collecting McFarlane Spidermans off of the rack. Very excited, towards the end it was getting a bit stressful. That Atom #1 with the stains was really giving me a hard time. My wife is suggesting we move to Florida and I could get a job grading at CGC and she could go to Disney and the Beach while I'm at work lol.
