Digital Pencils / Physical Inks - Thoughts?

congrats! My heart wasn’t in it, so I’m really happy that you found the page you’ve been after! Great price too! -
Digital Pencils / Physical Inks - Thoughts?
Catwoman_Fan replied to MadGenius's topic in Original Comic Art
Was it a McNiven Wolverine? Because he works that way on the pencils, illustrating each panel on a separate paper. There was an awesome Wolverine just on ebay, that I lost ( congrats if it was to you ) So to say the pencils are all digital, seems a misleading. I considered this quandary myself. But since I didn't win the auction, I no longer have to worry about buying the inks -

February Heritage Auction Really Shaping Up!
Catwoman_Fan replied to batman_fan's topic in Original Comic Art
In 2014, it was listed at Galerie9art.fr for 9,800 Euro. But went unsold there. Only the great Betty pages sold from the Gallery. The rest, including Felix's cover, were sold later. Four years ago (2016), Albert listed the unsold Gallery pieces, most in the $2 - 4,000 range. I grabbed a page from Albert, with a few Bettie panels, which had been listed for 8,500 Euro at Galerie 9. This was one of the few pages with Rocketeer in costume, from the issues being offered. The pages were reasonably priced, and far (far) below what the french Gallery had listed. -
Wikipedia tells me that he was Image president, before Erik Larsen, from 1999 - 2004. He brought diversity to image (not just superheroes) highlighted by publishing Kirkman on both The Walking Dead and Invincible. Currently he heads his own division of Image, Shadowline, Inc., which publishes Rat Queens, Memoirs of A Very Stable Genius and more. and more. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Hero Initiative Also, he's 10 to 15 years older (!!) than the other Image creators, so it's possibly he's slowed down/moved on from penciling.

Art Day - First Appearance of Daredevil
Catwoman_Fan replied to Infamouspure22's topic in Original Comic Art
Fascinating, I'd never heard that. How long ago was it broken up? Congrats to the OP on a grail piece! -
looks like half the items were unsold. Maybe making opening bids start at the lower end of their estimates , will deters bidders. I was shocked that a Batman Returns page (movie adaption) was estimated for $1000+, and then sold for it.

Digital Pencils / Physical Inks - Thoughts?
Catwoman_Fan replied to MadGenius's topic in Original Comic Art
Interesting. Are the pencils and Inks both on full 11x17 size boards? Did you consider just getting the inks, and skipping the pencils, just curious. -
Digital Pencils / Physical Inks - Thoughts?

Butch Guice Pencils - $100 Brian Theis' inks over Blue Line.- $140 Because for these pages, I think the inks display so much better than the pencils. -
Anyone have experience buying art from The Artists Choice??
Catwoman_Fan replied to BCoffee's topic in Original Comic Art
I have had success with contacting this year, and last - just prior to Heroes con (where he was setting up), with semi-daily replies. I think it really depends on which art/artist you are inquiring about. He keeps some of the art with him, while other artists keep their own inventory. Arranging to pickup art , that he happened to have on-hand, was a breeze. But whenever he has to reach out to his artists, there can be a long (several week) delay. Plus artists can loose track of their own art, either selling it or misfiling it at home, and Spencer will not update you while the artist is searching. -
Mike Mignola is still drawing and painting at a high level. He's temporarily retired a time or two, but he keeps working with con sketches, covers, and the occasional interior work. I second Brian Bolland , and I'm not sure how prolific he's been over the last 5-10 years. What are his recent projects?

WTB: Mike Mignola Hellboy cover
Catwoman_Fan replied to Noob19's topic in Original Comic Art Marketplace
OH yeah - nice find. You'll have better luck at auctions, than trying to pickup covers directly, in that price range. Maybe this didn't have enough HB for potential buyers? I bet someone lost money on that sale. His HB pages sell for 3k+, so a cover for 5.4 is a good buy. There's a sketchbook cover on comicgarden.dk for about 5k. -

Could you share that 2018 HB cover ? It may have been priced based on what the seller paid, and I think Mike's prices have increased. -
WTB: Mike Mignola Hellboy cover
Catwoman_Fan replied to Noob19's topic in Original Comic Art Marketplace
If you have patience you’ll find a non Hellboy cover for 4K or so. But anything with Hellboy (not BPRD) will be more. For example, the ones from last month’s show, are what Mike charges http://www.copronason.com/hellboy/ -
Personally, I haven't checked a live auction since the schedule changed. Of course I could set an alert, but I was so trained to Sunday that it's a big adjustment ( It doesn't enter my mind on Monday evening, as I'm finishing my work day or commuting home ).

Real or Fake - Action #1 Recreation by Joe Shuster
Catwoman_Fan replied to alxjhnsn's topic in Original Comic Art
Did Joe actually do colored pencil commissions? I’ve seen a lot attributed to him (mostly through Burkey’s website- he had 4 posted at one time) -
Just to echo, while I don’t follow Vess or Sandman art, I have an acquaintance interested in Sandman Vess pages, and 15k for a Sandman 75 page (featuring Morpheus) isn’t out of the question. Morpheus pages from 19 go up from there (20k+). Your page has Goldie, the brothers, young Harry Potter, and Phantom Stranger. With some iconic Morpheus shots. 7-9k makes sense, and if it’s a grail, a few thousand might be a hurdle worth tackling. Sometimes when I see “grail” prices, I have to pass and accept it wasn’t a grail for me, but will find a home in someone else’s collection.

Fixed it for you He has nice art, especially art that premieres at shows. Ive found him unlikely to negotiate price, but have no complaints on service. Over 15 years I’ve got art for $30 from him (my first purchase), to several thousand dollars, and his responsiveness was always good.
