  1. Dave explained it. I too have a blueline cover, which is 100% original. There is a b&w and color version too, so the colors were not over the inked version. Also, I had a b&w piece that was xerox, with marker enhancements. Then a color version also existed (1800 commission), based on my b&w. so I think Bruce is pretty free with his process (from lightboxing to photocopying). Plus I heard he doesn't like to discuss his process when confronted with questions.
  2. I heard of some artist (Buzz?) that buys every copy of Doctor Strange 55, he runs across. I figured that would be $$$
  3. I really like these Dark Knight images. Heritage's auction estimate at SDCC was $15,000. That seems conservative, no? I figure the Cover image (far right image) was worth 20K alone. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/frank-miller-the-complete-frank-miller-batman-1-hardback-cover-element-and-interior-illustrations-original-art-an-total-2-items-/a/7189-92141.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  4. I thought it looked familiar! Did you get the piece directly from Welz?
  5. Hey Matt, any idea what they were askin for the Harley Joker piece?
  6. I am bummed to see that Heritage is going to charge Sales Tax on Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, and Pennsylvania - starting August 1st As a PA resident, this will seriously impact my bidding. How do you guys in states already paying sales tax (in TX, NY?) deal with this? Do you take it into consideration while bidding?
  7. I thought it was started for French art. Does it have an easy interface for uploading new posts? (one of the key things Bill's site is lacking IMO) Do people comment much on 2DG posts?
  8. Yeah, the lighting is key, so the art appears one tone. You don't want to be standing over it, casting a shadow when you take the pic.
  9. I haven’t opened my scanner since downloading CamScanner. It works great on my iPhone and the artists I’ve shared it with were blown away. Perfect for taking “pictures” of art during a con, or scanning large art.
  10. Yeah, tons of reasonably priced Miller art. Some of those covers / splashes Two pages I was eyeing up sold quickly ( Spidey 2099 and McDaniel DD )
  11. I would have inquired with the seller, asked as many questions as possible to authenticate it (and him). I bought an authentic Bob Kane on ebay a while ago, so they do exist. And the seller was not an art collector, just an acquaintance of his family (wife). He drew art for anybody, because he was so proud of his creation. IMO the Hard Cover one's are fine, worst case they were done under Bob's supervision in a studio , based on templates he provided ghost artist(s). Best case, he drew them all (unlikely). But - they are authentic "Bob Kane" art.
  12. On Felix's podcast, it sounds like David is a huge supporter of the Artists edition format, contributing to several in the past. Now, where do I get tickets to tour the Mandel museum of comic art....
  13. It could be from the 60s-70s, but without provenance, its legitimacy is a coin flip for me.
  14. I’ve eyed up that recreation too, glad you picked it up! A heck of a lot cheaper than a Larsen ASM original cover, but fun as hell.
  15. Thanks 100X for the pics!! So much beautiful art, great to know they exist.
  16. I’m sure certain NY centric collectors and dealers are salivating over the Ditko estate. I bet the art gets auctioned/sold off piecemeal before an artists editon can be assembled.
  17. Stats are not original. They are after- production, and were pasted on! WTF?
  18. Thanks for the details. I have a 50 year old page with a replacement panel taped in (on the back), the front does not look very effected, but I'm afraid being in a new climate (I've only had the page a year) may cause further deterioration Would you recommend I leave it be, or try the cleaning method?
  19. Ive never done it. All my sketches & pages are stored in Itoya portfolios. I like to get close to the paper (sounds freaky... ) and slabbing would prevent that. I certainly couldn't care less about grading a sketch. Its one of a kind, condition doesn't effect value for most art.
  20. The Spidey's are just stats. That seems a bit much for just a closeup of Ock's face. Already at 55K. I guess Spidey fans are hungry for twice up covers?
  21. Is this the eraser you use? I want to try your technique on some pages. https://www.amazon.com/Sanford-Prismacolor-Magic-Eraser-SAN70503/dp/B019EAWT50
  22. Twice I've done the Chiaroscuro Studios Yearbook kickstarter (through Catarse.me) , the art rewards (Ivan Reis, Eddy Barrows, etc.) were so affordable and on time. I've always had luck with Jim Balent's Kickstarters. He and Holly GoLightly deliver the rewards and stretch goals promptly. Art rewards were much nicer than the examples he showed. Also I just received Mitch Bryd's kickstarter, again roughly on time. Anything less than six months late is good for me. I initially regretted passing on Kaluta's kickstarter - but years later, I'm glad I did. The wait for my friends is killer.
