  1. You actually see this rising in price? It does appear supply is low and there is some demand. I collect military firearms and have seen prices steadily rise with these! If you knew what I paid for these when I got them, you might be willing to sell. I have collected Star Trek items since I was a little tyke in the late 60s when TOS first broadcast on TV!
  2. Having one of only 12 Star Trek #1s in 9.2 grade makes me anxious to try to sell it. I will search for the best way to find these deep pocket Wild West collectors!
  3. I'll check it out. Sounds interesting if they have a large enough audience to buy high value graded comics. Thanks.
  4. I am new to this forum and posted a while ago about finding nice Original Series Gold Key Star Trek comics. I got them graded and slabbed by CGC. These came out pretty nice, especially the Star Trek #1 with White Pages. I now am researching what to do and where to sell them for the best prices. Would it be best to sell the 4 of them as a lot or separate? I know that the auction houses get top dollar. What kind of commissions do they charge for selling? Are rare graded comics bringing good prices now? Thank you for all of your input. This has been quite exciting. The grading process took months and was quite the investment but, apparently, well worth it. I now own one of 12 Star Trek #1 comics graded at 9.2. Very exciting! Original post:
  5. After a lengthy discussion with a nice CGS representative, I have finally figured out how to ship off my 4 comic books above and decide what services to pay for. This is quite the investment that I hope pays me back at some point. I was shocked to find out how much this will be costing me. You must be real passionate to have comic book collecting as a hobby!
  6. Could some of what appears to be dust shadows on my pictures be from copying on my scanner?
  7. Thanks. I guess these books are really looked at with the most precision examination.
  8. No rust anywhere! Like new but some manufacturing defects in the way the edges on a couple books were cut and a few small stress marks on the spine as someone pointed out! These look mint otherwise!
  9. Here are the others I have in this small collection, Trek # 2,3 and 4. They are in at least the same condition, maybe slightly better than #1. Unfortunately, #1 looks to have the most condition issues, al-be-it small ones! Thanks for all input.
  10. How much do you believe your's is worth? Amazing the small details they look for! Thanks.
  11. Here is a scan of the front and the back. It is upsetting to look under magnification at the corners where the pages have extra paper still attached. It makes it look like a sloppy factory cut. No damage but this is probably the kind of manufacturing error that affects condition and grading even if the comic book has no wear or non-factory damage. You can see at the top and bottom that little tuff of extra paper that was not cut clean. I will see what you experts think! Thanks.
  12. One thing I noticed is in the bottom right corner, the edges are cut from the factory (printing company) with very small fragments of paper still attached. It is not from wear or damage but the way it was cut. I am not going to try to pull them off or cut them but is this considered a manufacturing defect that might lower the grade? The entire comic book looks like it is fresh from the printer's and almost perfect except for this little area. I'll be getting a picture soon.
  13. I'll get pictures up soon. I have to get them out at home later. They'll be posted for opinions. I won't believe it until they are at the grading table! Have any fake comics been discovered? These are in such nice condition, I have to be cautious in my optimism!
  14. Thanks. It's tough when the auction houses are charging a huge commission but they certainly can attract high bidders! I'll get them graded and certainly post findings here.
