  1. And it can be yours for a mere $12,800. broskis0 might be reaching a bit?
  2. I have a feeling you have more, gunsmokin. Post some more!
  3. You don’t need no Steenking badges, either. There’s gold in dem der hills. Great movie. (Fixed).
  4. Yessir! The 8.5 dropped from a record high $350k to $217k. I was watching the top books closely in that ComicLink auction. I helped get the Hulk 1 (7.0) to $65k. A bit relieved I lost, tho. Upon further inspection, it appeared to be a bit of a weak 7.0. At least Hulk 1 prices are not fading (much).
  5. As one of the newer guys to the hobby I wholeheartedly agree with this point. Raw books ARE very intimidating to run at, until trusted sellers are found, etc. I am also discovering the subjective nature of grading — so I understand that is a thing, too. But a 1/2 grade here or there still certifies to an originality and that there was no fu!kery. edit: And, like graded baseball cards, it only serves to strengthen the transactional process. Much more chance for smoother arms-length transactions.
  6. Some great books in this ComicLink auction! I’m watching one of these items closely because I am winning one of them. I refresh, from time to time, to see if my bid is still winning. And if I’m outbid, do I take an even more aggressive run? I risked posting this because one of you might also be in the game? I’ll be taking some laps on my Green Machine for a few more days to see how this one lands!
  7. Where was this advice 2 years ago?! I could have been prepared for this! Who knew? Yes, my timing into the comic book hobby could not have been worse. Jumping in at the peak, and already seeing books like Hulk 181 (7.5 grade) dropping 20%. The X-Men 4 (8.5 grade) I way overpaid for in a Heritage auction has dropped even more. It’s a good thing I didn’t need the money used for a mortgage or other necessities! Long term (defined as 10 years or more) I feel strongly I’ll be ahead. So, no, I will not be disappointed. In the meantime, this dip was made for buying!
  8. My interest into the comic book hobby, as longer term hold investments, was recent. I’ve plunged in deeply. There is a real attraction to intrinsic things that are rare, older and in good condition. The movies were a draw for me. And I admit to getting caught up in the YouTube trend/bytes. But so far I seem to have avoided purchasing the wrong keys. I hope! I tend to agree with most folks in this thread: The origin storylines of villains and capes will always be of value. The 30 somethings will only gain more disposable income once they reach their 40s and 50s. Prices will go down, like all markets do. They will also fly back upward. At least I sure hope so. I’ve invested too much for this to be wrong! The old art work and stories, as foundations to the big screen hits, will keep these books as sought-after and highly valuable.
  9. Just watched and totally agree! Man, I took a serious run at a higher grade Flash 123 a few months ago. It went pretty high. Wish I bought that now!
  10. I agree. That “explosion” caught my eye too. In a bad way.
  11. My wall is now more complete with the addition of Avengers 1.
  12. It sure was. And I bought it low and held it. Still very happy. I don’t like to compare stocks to comic books for the reasons stated in this thread. I tried because there are similarities. But the analogy is not really strong. I love this hobby. And I’m learning a lot from this thread. Thank you all for being genuine in your comments. I have learned to be patient about the blue chip books I want. And I have learned that rarity and age still matter.
  13. Don’t wait too long to pick up an X-Men #1. I totally agree with your reasoning, mainly because I am also targeting X-Men #1. Like most boardies are saying: It is hard to predict the bottom. I don’t think I’m the only other looking to score an X-Men #1. We may regret not getting it at $10k now … Amazon’s stock was at $82 share 2 months ago. Now it’s over $110. Get what you can when you can and don’t look back!!
  14. All this talk about X Men prices dropping … Anyone with an X Men 1 looking to move it??? Asking for a friend.
  15. Books arrived nicely packed and looking great! Glad I participated in this year’s sale.
  16. I was bidding heavily on this book for all the reasons KCOComics states. Loved this 5.5 and wanted in on the Hulk 1 Club. Once it hit $47k I tapped out. Took a successful run at the Avengers 1 in an 8.0 grade instead. Saved almost $30k on the pivot, but still without Hulk. Thanks to KCOComics for some very insightful advice through that auction period. I’m not quite a noob, but still an amateur, at best.
  17. Hi Alex! Maybe this issue has been vetted on the boards before, but I KNOW you have the answer: Do you know why ComicLink does not share its sales data with price aggregators like GPAnalysis? I personally use and enjoy the ComicLink platform, and more and more people seem to be using it. But it seems to be a problem that ComicLink sales are not making it to our tools analyzing book prices.
