I have always loved the incredible covers on the pulps, so I have picked up a few as I have been hunting comics.
Have you read Hark Africa! ? Harry Steeger, publisher of Popular, thought it was "a chilling mixture of horror and suspense as any fiction brew could be." (thumbs u
People read these?
(I will pull that out to read. Sounds like it will be worth it. Thanks.)

What year is the Adventure? I need to add that poker cover to my want list.

I have a thing for the angry monkey covers.

OOOPS! I don't know how long people have been doing restoration on comics, but I have owned this a loooong time, and I know I didn't do it. This thing is the bionic comic-nothing original!
I can't read what all they did but they must have done it well. Looks like it was termed a professional job. Interesting when it pops up on a book held for a long time however.

Not a great snap shot but I thought it would be nice to add this here. Early Actions are awesome!
It is always nice to post early actions here, especially those great war covers. Very cool.

Here's another flagrant kindness to animals page -
That's a heck of a follow-through on that swing. That's gonna cost that cat at least two lives.

Missed out on the Mile High to a snipe bid in a Hakes auction recently, but was able to get the only other graded copy (big drop off from the 9.6 beauty). A great book for a 7.0.

I've just started to dip my toe in the GA waters. I love the crime books, and saw this T-Man for auction with a great Reed Crandall cover.
It's the Crippen "D" copy, and was sold raw on HA in spring 2007 as a VF-. I guess the latest owner (in the UK) slabbed it, and it came back as an 8.0. Got it for what I think is a very reasonable price.
Very happy!
Really nice book Drew. I was eying that auction and thinking this book would be a good entry point. (Then I got distracted, which happens easily.)

Pretty nice shape. Would be very nice if not for tear in top left.

These mixed marriages seem to be problematic. A good priest must know true love when he sees it.
-
Since I am a reverend, I'd be glad to officiate any marriages of key GA books with their covers.
Cool idea to put the boards to good use to bring these together.

Picked up two of my big niche books from a guy who was selling only three slabs. Very happy to put these away for a while:

I can't escape this thing. I sold a 4.0 of this book and two days later, found myself pulled to Shrunkenhead's listing for this puppy:
It is purdy.

This book was just too much fun. I had to pick it up when it was available, even if I overspent.

I will be selling a complete run of Classics Illustrated. I've got to scan them in. Avg. condition is VG. Should be up this week.
I'll offer them up first as a complete set if anyone wants it. (Trying to get some room for my more recent impulse buys.)
A few originals but it was a collection for reading.

Here's the Bethlehem.
Welcome back!
I just overpaid for the 7.0 slabbed copy. That Bethlehem is awesome.

Several nice giveaways and several other random Golden Age books being listed over next couple of days. Many No. 1s, mostly mid-grade.

Just got this one back. Not a great cover, but the first of a title that had a pretty good run.

I feel like I may be the only one of us left in here.
These are the Wheaties books I said I would post.
The Funny Stuff is tied for the top grade. None of the Wheaties books in this series have graded higher than 8.0. Overstreet says none grade higher than fine, but there are a handful that do.
-
First batch of books back from CGC.
All blue labels despite picking up all on eBay and not having a clue about what I was doing.
One big winnner: the Wheaties Funny Stuff is an 8.0 (one of those "never found better than fine books according to OS). Tied for top grade.
Here are the Wheaties giveaways and a few others I picked up.
