  2. What I went back to find was the picture that shows the cabinet in his comic room. I remember it had his All Stars in it. I was curious to see his AS 8.
  3. Nah, not Confederate monuments. I'm saddened that when I went to re-read parts of BangZoom's Golden Age Collection thread all the pictures had been wiped out by Photobucket. What would be really neat is if someone who knows BangZoom or his family could ask if it would be ok if Board members paid the Photobucket fees to get those pictures back up. I haven't heard anything about BZ in a long time, any updates?
  4. I think it actually might be that they screwed up and failed to keep the bidders private on the AS 8.
  5. The spread is now $400K/$200K/$130K. Big jump for the S 1, with no movement in the AS 8. When Gator speaks, people listen. I'm not going to be surprised in the final spread between the AS 8 and the S 1 is around 2:1. I am going to be surprised if the spread between the S 1 and WW 1 doesn't tighten up. Not only is this the highest graded and white WW 1, but the historical extras with this book are one of a kind and it has a historical cache that cannot be duplicated. So I'm expecting final prices to reflect a more compressed spread something like $600K/$310K/$280K.

  7. You may well be right. But, the reality is that it is the Strange Tales 110 of the GA (with MF 73).
  8. Since you are floating a hypothetical, we can only guess. But, given that only six comic books have reached seven figures, four Action Comics 1, one D27, and one AF 15 (which may not happen today), I'm not seeing the evidence that there is a buyer out there wanting to pay seven figures for Wonder Woman. Especially given that Hariri is responsible for buying at least two of those $1 million comics (top 2 Action 1s) and had no real interest in WW until he visited the movie set. Here's the story: Hariri clearly paid these huge prices because an intensely personal bond with Superman ( he grew up with an editorial coratoon on his wall that portrayed his father as Superman helping the Lebanese people) that is, I think, unusual:
  9. Surprised at how many people view $1 million as a realistic price. I would have thought that the no WW on the cover would have had more of a dampening effect on perceptions in this CGC cover centric world. Especially given that there are more AS 8s then Sensation 1s (first cover) on the census (although my guess is that there are more ungraded copies of both of these books out there - both in real numbers and as a percentage - than say an Action 1 or D 27).
  10. Predictions on the AS 8 so far (high to low): SC22 $1.5M to $2M Szavisca $1.3M Aman $1M+ Bronty $1M range Sagii $1M Gotham Kid $750K to $1M sfcityduck $600K range Bedrock $400k (to $10M) Anyone else want to venture a guesstimate?
  11. Thanks! I love Rob's site. But, looks like he needs some updates to his lists.
  12. I stand corrected on the Batman 1 9.2 sold for $563K in 2013. But, when did a Superman 1 sell over $450K? I agree that one of the top Superman 1 should be expected to sell over $500K given the strong prices for lower graded copies, but has any actually sold that high yet?
  13. I've read nothing about it. I have read that he sold off a 42% interest he had in a family business for $500 million and his family sold a different business for $1 billion plus. So he must be flush right now.
  14. 1941-1945 and mainly DC doesn't get you enough "key" books probably. Too late for all Superman and Batman keys. Too late for AS 3 and the JSA character appearances (GL, Sandman, Flash, Hackman, etc.). Best case, it means Adams might have a really nice All-Flash 1, Star Spangled 1, MF 73, and GL 1 (but those all pre-date AS 8). Of course, since he didn't have a WW 1 (or it wasn't nice enough), we know its not comprehensive or all high grade from AS 8 forward. Possible "keys" after AS 8 would include Leading 1, Comic Calvacade 1, Boy Commandos 1, and MF 101. Not a lot.
  15. The provenance of the AS 8 is stated as coming from a new 400 book OO collection described as follows: 1941 – 1945 Magazine Distributor --- Store Owner --- Attic Same Location --- 70 plus years later A very rare original owner collection that has yielded the finest known copies of Wonder Woman’s first two appearances. Other comics from this collection have also been graded as highest known copies. My question: What other comics have popped up recently from this collection as "highest known copies"?
  16. The spread is now $400K, $175K, $126K. On the AS 8, it's been the same two bidders from $150K to $400k.
  17. If it did, Rob doesn't know about it because it's not on his lists.
  18. I think Adams' strategy was to create a huge publicity splash by offering up "the trifecta" of WW comic books. I don't think, that he's gotten as much mainstream interest in this sell as for the Action 1, though. I guess he must have already had the AS 8 and Sensation 1 when he bought the WW 1 and he views the risk of taking a loss on the WW 1 as a reasonable marketing expense. I wonder if he should have offered them up as a lot? But, selling in sequence (1 hour intervals between auction endings) will prove very wise if the AS 8 garners a huge price (and maybe he knows Hariri wants the AS 8) as it might inflate the Sensation 1 and WW 1 also. Really going to be fascinating to watch.
  19. If the WW 1 goes from selling for $291K on ComicConnect in December to selling for $420K on eBay less than a year later, that's a stunning endorsement for eBay and huge black mark for ComicConnect as auction platforms.
  20. Right now AS 8 is at $125k, Sensation 1 at $53K, and WW 1 at $65K. I wonder if that's an early indication of the spread and interest? Probably not as I would be surprised for the WW 1, even though it is super cool and has the great extras, to top the Sensation 1. On the other hand, is it the top WW 1? The MH has disappeared right? There are two 9.0 and this one is white with the extras.
