  1. Thanks! I love Rob's site. But, looks like he needs some updates to his lists.
  2. I stand corrected on the Batman 1 9.2 sold for $563K in 2013. But, when did a Superman 1 sell over $450K? I agree that one of the top Superman 1 should be expected to sell over $500K given the strong prices for lower graded copies, but has any actually sold that high yet?
  3. I've read nothing about it. I have read that he sold off a 42% interest he had in a family business for $500 million and his family sold a different business for $1 billion plus. So he must be flush right now.
  4. 1941-1945 and mainly DC doesn't get you enough "key" books probably. Too late for all Superman and Batman keys. Too late for AS 3 and the JSA character appearances (GL, Sandman, Flash, Hackman, etc.). Best case, it means Adams might have a really nice All-Flash 1, Star Spangled 1, MF 73, and GL 1 (but those all pre-date AS 8). Of course, since he didn't have a WW 1 (or it wasn't nice enough), we know its not comprehensive or all high grade from AS 8 forward. Possible "keys" after AS 8 would include Leading 1, Comic Calvacade 1, Boy Commandos 1, and MF 101. Not a lot.
  5. The provenance of the AS 8 is stated as coming from a new 400 book OO collection described as follows: 1941 – 1945 Magazine Distributor --- Store Owner --- Attic Same Location --- 70 plus years later A very rare original owner collection that has yielded the finest known copies of Wonder Woman’s first two appearances. Other comics from this collection have also been graded as highest known copies. My question: What other comics have popped up recently from this collection as "highest known copies"?
  6. The spread is now $400K, $175K, $126K. On the AS 8, it's been the same two bidders from $150K to $400k.
  7. If it did, Rob doesn't know about it because it's not on his lists.
  8. I think Adams' strategy was to create a huge publicity splash by offering up "the trifecta" of WW comic books. I don't think, that he's gotten as much mainstream interest in this sell as for the Action 1, though. I guess he must have already had the AS 8 and Sensation 1 when he bought the WW 1 and he views the risk of taking a loss on the WW 1 as a reasonable marketing expense. I wonder if he should have offered them up as a lot? But, selling in sequence (1 hour intervals between auction endings) will prove very wise if the AS 8 garners a huge price (and maybe he knows Hariri wants the AS 8) as it might inflate the Sensation 1 and WW 1 also. Really going to be fascinating to watch.
  9. If the WW 1 goes from selling for $291K on ComicConnect in December to selling for $420K on eBay less than a year later, that's a stunning endorsement for eBay and huge black mark for ComicConnect as auction platforms.
  10. Right now AS 8 is at $125k, Sensation 1 at $53K, and WW 1 at $65K. I wonder if that's an early indication of the spread and interest? Probably not as I would be surprised for the WW 1, even though it is super cool and has the great extras, to top the Sensation 1. On the other hand, is it the top WW 1? The MH has disappeared right? There are two 9.0 and this one is white with the extras.
  11. My guess on that one is he wants the best available copy of Action 1. That copy was the Cage when bought it. When the Darren Adams copy came out, and looked better to a number of eyes, he decided he need to buy that. Action 1 means a lot to him because his father was assassinated and he grew up with an editorial cartoon of his father in Superman costume doing good deeds for his country on his wall. He does not appear to be a hoarder or an investor.
  12. I'm not understanding why you say Hariri is "almost certainly bidding." He pass on the WW 1 nine months ago. He already has a 9.4 Sensation 1. I don't know if he has or wants an AS 8, but I do know that Wonder Woman does NOT hold the same allure to him that Superman does (and Batman to a lesser extent).
  13. Many on this site can make better guesses than me. My thinking is: The WW 1 didn't hit $300K with an additional winning bidder (Darren Adams) who isn't bidding here. So you could be right about $250K. Metro appears to be buying these big money books only when they've got a buyer in hand (like Hariri) and Hariri has a 9.4 Sensation 1. $500K seems very aggressive for Sensation 1 when WW 1 doesn't top out above $300K. Maybe Hariri needs an AS 8 or maybe not. But, I don't think you'll see many of the dealer types (Gator, etc.) going $1 million on a book without a buyer because no GA DC comic that's not an Action 1 or D27 has ever gone for more than $450K (Flash 1). So I'm thinking the comfort level tops out at $600k.
  14. You think the first or second AS 8, at best, is worth the same as the second or third Action 1? Seems like a very aggressive price for a later GA book.
  15. My guess is Dave Anderson owns it since I've never seen anyone discuss the thing. It sold for a $70K in 1995, but the grade has not been reported that I know of.
  16. Hariri didn't want the WW 1 when it was up for sale recently, so I don't know why he'd want it now. He also has a 9.4 Sensation 1, so I don't think he needs this one. He's a Superman guy first, Batman second, and Wonder Woman wasn't even on his radar until he visited the set when the movie was being filmed. These books should show what the non-Hariri market really is. I'm thinking the AS 8 might hit the $600K range, the others more in the $300K range. The WW1 did not hit $300K 9 months ago, and this flip will have one less bidder.
  17. AS 8 has broken $100K. Sensation 1 and WW 1 are over $50K. I'd say we're about 1/6th of the way there.
  18. And it's off! The AS 8 auction is now live. Ends in 10 days. Are they going to auction these serially or overlap? Too early to tell.
  19. I am thinking about this copy. The "O" seems like a potential concern. As does the scuffing (maybe even an erasure? or could be the light) on the right. Otherwise, it looks pretty good. Your thoughts on grade:
  20. I get your point, and I have not bought this book, but I would not be buying it with hopes of flipping a really high grade. My point is more basic: It is a beautiful comic, much better preserved and with much richer colors than the norm. the label does not bother me and I don't see a front cover crease breaking color or otherwise detracting from the art (in contrast to most subscription variants).
  21. I bought it for a decent price and am going to submit to CGC. I'm hoping 9.0 or above, but I recognize the risk.
  22. I might. What do you think about this comic. I think it looks pretty good.
  23. Someone has put a bunch of Canadian editors up on eBay.
  24. Thinking about it, I'm really not. They aren't "cover" books. The collectors seeking these issues tend to be super super super completest (going after numerous variations of the same issue), so grade may not be as much of a motivation for most collectors of this stuff. Most of these books are lower in value, and thus makes less economic sense to slab them. And the market for CI does not appear to be a flipper market. Finally, sometimes the HRN is inside, not back cover.
