  1. But St John didn't publish in Canada. Surely that's a Superior, right?
  2. Gives me an idea of old school scrolling borders like paper money or stock certificates. Wouldn't that be neat! It would have been really sweet if any of these grading companies had hired an engraver for decorative border design.
  3. When CGC does it right, the finished product is fantastic. When they get it wrong.... well: Pretty easy to see that curve there... All kinds of spine problems now: That's what we'll call a "weak" 9.8, but I'm not sure I've ever seen the inner well extend so far up into the label area of the outer case... Perhaps they hired a new sealer who didn't know how to align the materials properly?
  4. I really love this one.... wish they'd have printed it larger.
  5. Klytus... I'm bored. What play-thing have you for me? An obscure body from the complimentary variety, your majesty.
  6. She realized that she was "poor at heart".
  7. Detached is not the same as Staple Detached (usually - unless the book only has one staple).
  8. Is Randy playing croquet? Can't imagine him chopping wood with that tiny handle "item".
  9. Well, GCD has already has this one cataloged: Fightin' Marines #2: I dig the coloring, but that line-work leaves much to desire... This one was a surprise arrival/gift from a knowledgeable UK collector. @Get Marwood & I Published by L. Miller & Son Ltd with likely a local UK Artist drawn cover. No other like it! The date of publication might be attributable to the fact that it's "L. Miller & Son" and not "L. Miller" or "L. Miller & Co." GCD has an approximate date of 1956 for this series, and nearly all interior contents are pulled from St John's Fightin' Marines #3 (December 1951). L. Miller only reprinted four of the original St John five stories. What I find amusing is the copyright note of acquiring the right to reprint from Charlton. ...But but but it says "printed in the Republic of Ireland"! I guess I shouldn't say it's a UK book? We get a Matt Baker Canteen Kate story inside. Decidedly not so great printing/reproduction of our favorite artists work... I'm planning on sending off for a few of these items!! Size is about Golden Age width, but kinda on the shorter side of height... Single staple book with slight rust, but overall a very clean copy and I wouldn't be at all surprised if this were to grade out at around 6.5.
  10. That "incomplete/uncollectible" title is hilarious. Comics are being sold by the page these days...
  11. Perhaps they should wait for the plastic to cool before putting the comic against/inside it. Should I be taking pictures of one of my December 2023 submissions with warped inner wells and posting them here? I don't think I'll be able to sell them...
  12. In the Spiderman 1 example shown, there is a Married Page and that would be the reason to use a qualified label. A Frankenstein book should receive a purple or green label even if it's a 0.5/NG.
  13. We ought to have one back on the first page. Shouldn't be too hard a task....
  14. I'll grab some interior shots. The artist looks to have swiped some Vampi images (based on some costume designs) and the date appears to indicate the printing in the early 80's (which could also align with swipes from Vampi). Beautiful fluid linework and gorgeous colors that are soft enough to really accentuate the inks. Actually, it appears I do have one photo on this device...
