  1. I quit. This thread is closed. I can’t take it any longer. The message “ This webpage was reloaded because a problem occurred “ appears and deletes my text and screws things up. Photos are not uploading well for me. I can’t get into a rhythm whatsoever. I’m outta here. Sorry.
  2. System keeps disallowing some photos and bouncing me out and refreshing. Kinda getting sick of this . Sorry for the issues. Chris
  3. Everyone loves a story and these books have one. Unearthed recently in a clean out. Actually found in the garage out back in a box way back, up and out of the way. Amazingly this garage had no doors here in New England so these books in addition to being well read, have survived the hardest winters and some hot summers. Sitting in a box from the late 50s and patiently waiting to be made available to you guys here first. The was paper quality is remarkable given the circumstances. I was truly amazed after hearing of their dormant state. I was not the finder but the lucky shop owner that bought them. For tucked in between the pile was a Showcase8 and an Adventure247 that are both on their way to CGC. All books here are complete, no detached covers or centerfolds. I think I have them in the right neighborhood grade wise and hopefully you find the prices attractive. I am open to making package deals etc. I will go alphabetically and I’m at my shop, so if nobody comes in, I will stay at it. Sorry in advance if I have to pause. There are 68 books to show you. *Paypal *30 day no questions asked return policy * BOXED Shipping $5 for 1 book and $.25 each additional book. So here I go.
  4. Accept the return and move on. Nothing worse than stressing over stuff not worth stressing over.
  5. The topic is pretty much CPR. So yes “everyone” I’m referring to applies to that strain of the hobby and not like “everyone “ including my 2 yr old nephew.. and you I guess. Just trying to make a point. Sorry to include you. My bad
  6. I was under the impression that the new cases were actually improved. A better stronger case and designed with SCS in mind. I don’t follow the SCS or newton ring stories.
  7. Hard for me to tell from the pic, but it appears to be a current slab. Are there examples of SCS with the newest version of the CGC slab?
  8. I’m sure you looked at the GPA, because that is very important here. Can the book absorb the grading fee, shipping etc if it were only to go up a 1/2 point? Financially, I think you need to establish a target grade. Can this book get to a xx.x?
  9. I consider AF15 a 1/2 point book. By that I mean that every 1/2 point bump is big money. A lesser graded copy will never out sell a higher as you can see other books this happens a lot. So it’s always worth a shot.
  10. I wasn’t even considering your reasoning or intentions. I’m just calling balls and strikes of the posted book. Pressing will improve the book, but as @RockMyAmadeus said, there’s likely not enough that can be done to push it to a 9.8. I agree with him.
  11. I’ve always felt that when you are very serious about a mere 1/2 point bump and it’s evident that the book has areas to improve, then I strongly suggest sending it to Matt Nelson for a prescreen. If they say it’s worth a shot, then go for it. I feel that’s what they are there for. To evaluate and get that bump. You are paying so I expect their product, which is professional advice and expert cleaning and pressing should result in a bump more than 50% of the time. Otherwise what’s the point of their existence?
  12. These kinda books are the classic example that lure the owner or prospective buyer in. Clear and evident damage that looks like it can be fixed with a press. Makes you think. And only then will you truly understand the definition of gift grade. Also makes me wonder if the graders are now looking at books the same way a flipper might. Stains and CBCs are bad, but pressable defects are good and the book gets graded to its potential.
  13. As a shop owner, I find that you don’t get choices on things that people bring in and offer to sell you. You never know what’s going to buy or what’s going to sell. If someone sells me 9 books or one, it’s always about price. How much it costs me. It’s not a really bad thing to have a big ticket item that’s unlikely to sell because you should have other items to sell. Imaging setting up at a comic book show with a single book like Action 1 and nothing else. You’re likely not going to sell it and you won’t pay for your table. Now if you have bins of dollar books, people will come over to see the Action1 and hopefully engage in conversation over it and possibly browse and buy some of your other items and you pay for your table. If by chance I buy a collection of whatever and I’m successful at selling a ton of it, well I just may color up into one big book. That’s because I now can from the work I’ve done and I still have tons of stuff to sell. Diversity and quantity and then just wait.
