When I first started out , I had this confusion too . But is not correct . The buyer is buying at fair market value . The seller is the one getting burned . Let's say FMV is $500 ( as per GoCollect ) . You are likely to get the book at $500 . The seller however is only getting $417 ( 20% less for commission) .

I don't know why they call it "buyer's premium" . I think it is a marketing gimmick to hide the fact that the seller is getting burned . It is just commission that seller has to pay .

It’s called the cost of doing business. You can sell it yourself on eBay, but there is a cost associated with that method. You could set up at a show or fleamarket, but you lose all the top buyers and won’t likely get better deal than Heritage, clink, cc, etc would also find a cost to do this too. Open up a brick and mortar...cost there as well. You have a book to sell, there will be a cost to do business. On the books, off the books, quick sell or hold out, avoid scammers and theft, possible armed robbery, or simply lost in the mail. Losing your book in any sense is a cost of doing business.

That's a .5 on a day with sunshine and unicorns and leprechauns frolicking together eating cotton candy made out of ice cream. It's be a wonder if the pages aren't welded together. Say goodbye and walk away.

Welded pages would be the end all. The main reason I explained that I need to see the books in person. It’s going to cost me a ride a few towns away. She has this too.

I went to Dunkin Donuts 2 years ago, I went through the drive through and asked for a large regular hot coffee. Circled around, picked up the coffee, I think I over paid, heck both McDonalds and Cumberland Farms are both selling comprable size coffees at just a $1. Anyways my phone rings and I drive away. About 2 miles down the road I sip my overpriced coffee, :frustrated: there was no cream, I was pissed. 2 years later I start a thread on the Coffee Boards about how Dunks screwed me and ruined my whole day. Today I called them, You insipred me, they said I could return it, I told them I drank it anyways. They asked what can we do for you? I told them that they they made me pay a high price for a coffee that I did not like. I just want everyone to never go there anymore, they are bad and they used falsification tactics. If they were out of cream that day I would have been happy with milk, mabye. I just wanted to share my experience incase anyone here ever wanted to deal with this company, that they should carefully inspect what they order. I will never go there again, YEAH RIGHT

I now own a Keurig. I buy my coffee through WB Mason. I can not run my business with out it. America runs on coffee.

Well, at least he puts in a huge qualifier in BIG Bold letters that grading is very subjective and he is not a professional grader or claims to be:

Grade: NM Please Bidders View My High Definition Photos As I’m Not A Professional Grader Nor Claim To Be As Grading Is Very Subjective!

Is it really any worse than CGC designing a grading system whereby you can take a CGC 9.0 graded book like this one here and if you use their ancillary services properly and pay for it over and over again, you will eventually be able to manipulate it into a CGC 9.8 graded copy:     (tsk)

It is possible to buy lower grade books, clean/press them and snatch a grade bump. I’ve done it once or twice. But this guy on a mission to unslab books, rehome them to some unsuspecting buyer. I’m sure you can even see consistency in his grading across his display. I haven’t looked or read much of this thread.

Interesting.  I'm seeing multiple listings of the same book for books I'm interested in, so I'm hopeful going into the next auction :).  This also can't be good for consighnors!

They are always made aware of the other books in the auction. It has to be ok with both consigners to happen. I see this with other auction houses, even @mycomicshop will not allow same grades to compete. First come first serve is the rule, other guy gets bumped. Try consigning a ASM300 CGC 9.8, there is a long line to wait if you want it sold on clink with no others. Anyhoo...

The upcoming June-2020 Clink auction is at about 9000 books. Is that a record?  Just wondering how much higher it's ever been if anyone else has ever noted.

There is a limit. I’ve spoke to them around this subject. They can only sell so many books in an allotted amount of time. Going into the wee hours of the night can’t be promising to consigners either

So you had found one of these in a box and had never heard of it before? That must have been quite an experience to flip through in search of the cover reference and come across an 18-month-old Superman bringing Hitler and Stalin to justice.

It was an awakening. Doing the math, I was like dang this is an early Supe appearance. They say that it ignited WW2 as Look was an international publication and Adolf wasn’t the least bit thrilled that 2,Jewish lads would create character in tights taking him out.

The Blitzkreig finishes a short bronze run that I think is underrated, the Blazing just doesn't come up much and I will probably try to finish the run, and the February 1940 Look Magazine...well, I'll include interior shots for those who are unfamiliar...

I bought a box lot of magazines at a live auction for $10. Nobody knew, myself included. Thankfully it mentions Supe on the cover because a lot more that know would likely not.
