  1. Nice Supes. Is that a bit of resto in the pillar above Luthors head? Yeah, there is a bit of a resto on this. I didn't care though. Still cool as hell. A little bit of restoration on something like that brings it much closer to affordable. I say 'Well done!'
  2. I'm usually a SA DC guy, but I saw these at the LCS and couldn't pass them up. Here's hoping y'all like scans... Thor #152: Thor #160: Thor #166: X-Men #7: X-Men #16: X-Men #20: X-Men #27: X-Men #28: X-Men #58:
  3. But I'd be wearing safety glasses. Not so different otherwise! Pasteur was primarily a chemist at first, making seminal contributions to the understanding of chiral (asymmetric) molecules. There are some similar covers out there, like this one. Jack That sheep between his legs looks irate.
  4. Triple kudos to Sal for some great SA Aquamans & Green Lanterns; shipped just a few hours after receiving PayPal payment, and with packaging the likes of which I've never seen. One of my favorite parts of getting comics in the mail is taking them out of the ratty old bags 'n' boards and putting them into Mylites2 and Fullbacks. But of this pleasure I've been robbed, as this is exactly how Sal had them bagged already. Well done sir!
  5. Excellent choice for a bump image! I've got the full run, and #113 is my absolute worst issue. I've had it lying around since I was maybe 9 years old, which means almost 30 years, and the first 20 of those years were not kind to it. I've been meaning to upgrade but am waiting for a pretty sweet copy to present itself to me at a reasonable price.
  6. I'm glad Len & his people are safe and okay. That said... O my god, the all the interior OA for Hulk 181? Yikes!!!
  7. I know it's been on here before, but this one's now mine so it's special! House of Secrets #92:
  8. So I am assuming these arent the books you bid on. He sent you some other copies? And when you E-mailed him he said? That's where the long drawn-out part starts. I sent a nice e-mail as the seller claimed I could return the books if I didn't agree with his grade. I got no reply, and didn't for 3 weeks. After FLOODING the e-mail, I got some sob-story about how the guy I was dealing with was shot while on vacation in Russia (I jokingly presume with my money) and died. I talked with his "father" presumably through e-mail and was promised that restitution would be made, and gave him my address. I got a package with an even crappier reprint X-comic in it, and the return address was made out in the NAME OF THE GUY WHO SUPPOSEDLY DIED. His "father" didn't have the same name, so I guess his still-warm corpse made that stuff out? It was bad situation all around... but for what I lost, it wasn't worth getting on a plane and going to his door. I'm not sure if I could have called the cops in Houston..... I chalked it up to experience and moved on. But, I do have his address in my wallet, just in case I ever find myself in Houston. -slym That's nutso. I assume the long-drawing-out made it too late to file a PayPal claim? How were the scans on ebay? Were they pretty big? As in, do you suspect the seller of putting up false scans, or were they just too small? Lately, for comics of any real value that have only small scans of the front cover, I've been asking sellers to email me larger scans, and any info about condition. If a seller refuses, or just ignores me, I don't bid. With the comics I'm looking for, there's always another auction coming up.
  9. Nicely done! The cover composition's got some Action Comics #1 to it, doesn't it?
  10. Wrightson fan, those pre-code horror comics are incredible. How do you do it? Are you rich? Been buying them for years? Both??
  11. (thumbs u The first series of Moon Knight from the 80's is my favourite series too. The stories where straight forward with some decent art work. Moon Knight #5 is my all time favourite and was the book that drew me into the series. This book was by Bill Sienkiewicz and Doug Moench. Let's see, MK #5 ... that'd be MK in a grave yard with some sort of orange ghost coming to get him? I don't remember the story, I'll have to reread it. Numbers 24 and 25 are two of my all-time favorite comics covers. I met Sienkiewicz at a convention in the 80s and got all of my Moon Knights signed by him. As I recall he was a really cool guy, but that might have been the stars in my eyes.
  12. Hey Whisp, good to see another Moon Knight fan. I've been out of the new comic game for the part since about 1988. But the early 80's series is one of my all time favorites. I started getting them originally for the Sienkiewicz art, he was my favorite back then is now my number 2 after Carmine Infantino. I quickly realized that the character was cool, and the Dough Moench stories rocked. A lot of them had more heart than your average comic book of the time. Anyway, it's been a pleasure to see your pics of those 80's issues. There are far worse heroes to love than MK.
  13. Silver Age DCs are really the way to go, and GL's a huge part of the reason. Here are a few of my pre-Adams issues: Green Lantern #13: Green Lantern #26: Green Lantern #41: Green Lantern #44: Green Lantern #47: Green Lantern #56: Green Lantern #72: Green Lantern #75:
  14. Yeah, most of the ones I was sure about have already been posted. The HoM 189 is really cool. Charcoal or whatever it is, it's like you can see Neal Adams' real drawing, inking free, every little line & squiggle. he may not be the greatest guy in person, but he could really draw back in the day. The HoM 205 grabbed me right away when I saw if at the convention. It's a crazy cover, it just sucks me in.
  15. Hey y'all. Glad to see a thriving Flash thread here. I went to the NY Convention over the weekend and bought The Flash #106 & #112, thus completing the run! I've had a little less than half the issues from when I was a kid in the 80's, got the rest over the past year. It's my favorite title by far, especially the ~50% done by Carmine Infantino. Ridiculously nice 9.2 #123 by the way. I had a decent looking copy with a detached cover that I traded to my LCS about a month ago. I currently have a restored VF copy. For the more expensive books, I really don't mind a little resto. It helps me afford them. As a little (read: big) treat to myself for completing the Flash run, I got me a copy of Showcase #14. My next goal is to get the remaining three Flash Showcase appearances from the 50's, 4, 8 and 13.
  16. Another great thread. Here are a few greytones I found in my collection. At least I think they're greytones. House of Mystery #189: House of Mystery #197: House of Mystery #205: The Witching Hour #3:
  17. This is a great thread. I haven't gone through all pages, so sorry if there are some dupes here. A few Silver Flash 10 centers: The Flash #105: The Flash #107: The Flash #115: The Flash #116: The Flash #117: The Flash #118: The Flash #119: The Flash #120: The Flash #121: The Flash #122: The Flash #123: The Flash #124:
