  1. Who cares if Superman covers are up here...those early Supermans are great covers. Now could someone please post up the 5 (never get sick of that cover).
  2. Wow cant believe how long this thread has been around. Or should I say, what the hell am I talking about? Its a Superman thread damn it! It should go on forever. My personal favorite is Action 20, so classic!
  3. These marvels and Amazings are great, much more enjoyable than the repetative war covers. Some of these look like Paul's style. That was art!
  4. I have a #2, but no #1 Thats the one with the space ships flying over a city, I believe..... Does anyone have that first one?
  5. I would love to see the first issue of the Marvel pulp ? Never seen it before! Who has one that can share?
  6. Interesting stuff (the Jewish museum of artists). Why was there nothing of Bob Kane? Was he of Jewish background or no? Speaking of backgrounds (if anyone knows) what backgrounds were there following: Bill Everett, George Roussos (Greek?), Bob Oksner, Paul Gustavson (sounds Scandanavian) , Jim Chambers, Frank Paul, Vincent Sullivan (sounds Irish), just to start?
  7. Great covers guys. Just one question for anyone who might know out there. One of the Marvel Science pulps that is done by Kirby and Simon has a story of one guy who takes a Serum formula and becomes a super soldier. Is that a Captain America proto-type? is it confirmed ? Is my question clear enough?
  8. Superman, Batman, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Human Torch- top 5
  9. Really ,thats it? Only Detective 1??? I wonder why he only drew the first issue only?
  10. Quick question for anyone, how many NON-funny covers did Vincent Sullivan draw ? Just wondering.
  11. Please dont tease me with the 45, I have been wanting that issue for a while.
  12. Moving away from the adventures a sec, anyone have a More Fun 45? Want that issue badly.
  13. I will have grey hairs by the time I have a 27 ( and a skeleton when I get a 26).
  14. Wondering! Why was Timely primarily focused on being anti-German and Anti-Japanese while DC did not go all out for that War theme in their books?
  15. Its been a mixed feeling about slabbing, but recently I have seen the pro surpassing the con. Example, I tried selling a book a while back on ebay with a reserve, unslabbed, and it did not sell. When I slabbed it,and tried re-selling it the reserve met in just 2 days. People are trusting CGC for the first and most important fact-- restoration. Anyone on ebay can say, the book is unrestored. I am not saying CGC is perfect, but its better than some joe telling anyone, the book is unrestored (when in fact he/or she is unsure themselves). I even bought a GA book from a dealer once with a guarantee there was no restoration, when I slabbed it it came back (not too long ago) purple with a note of glue on the back middle of the spine. I did not even see it after checking it cover to cover. And I dont miss alot , but Im not perfect with detecting either. It could happen to anyone.
  16. Hey Detective27kid.... I actually saw 2 more on ebay this year alone. It is a very tough issue but even metropolis will auction one off in the fall. The 16 I only saw one other time all my time searching. I think most people would prefer a Red Skull cover over a Japanese War cover. maybe.... who knows, maybe that should become a poll as well.
  17. AAAAAHHHHHHH, My favorite Marvel Mystery cover ever. So classic 30s! I hope to get a number 2 one day.
  18. Cool covers. I am upset now that i sold some of my Caps. sob . I used to have 13 (low grade but still classic Japanese war cover), 17, 19 , 21, 45, 49, 61. Regret selling. I am crying now that I sold this!
  19. Love it regardless. Mid grades on these are tough. I wonder why we never saw more villians on covers back then?! Im trying to get an earlier issue than my 16, especially the 3 and 13 (I was a fool to sell my copy ), and any Kirby/Simon issue of course.
