  1. I love this title but I'm always the under bidder when they show up. I missed the 8.5 copy of 4 by $5 about 10 years ago. This is the only one I have. I believe Flex owns that copy now... I've been trying to get him to sell, but no go (and I don't blame him at all). 15 is a fairly desirable issue as well, classic acid in the face cover, but I think that one is more easily found than 4. My low grade copy will have to suffice. Flex sold it to Mrillmannered about a year or so ago. It's locked up tight in his vault now. I tried to pry a book out of his hands recently and threw everything but the kitchen sink at him and he still couldn't let it go And there you have it.

  3. That is superb I'm still not clear as to why this "picture magazine" version exists. I've heard Canadian version, which someone said it was not. Here's mine. It can't be Canadian, Canadian comics were 15 cents at the time. I don't get why they would go to the trouble of making 2 versions. Then the questions arrises to which version is the more rare one?
  4. I have a few, but I'd really like to find a nice looking 4. Tough book and a great cover. I know of one on the boards.

  6. This is such a cool book. I was very tempted to bid on it but was in the process of paying off some other books. There are some really great covers in that run. Congratulations
  7. Great pick ups on the 2 and 3... Gorgeous looking copies.
  8. My pleasure. I won't hide the fact that I found the interiors rather disappointing but what a cover! I completely agree, fairly mundane war interiors, but that cover though...
  9. Stunning Thanks Jack.. And thank you for the link Scrooge. I love that they have some of the harder to find interiors on that site. I do wish they were allowed to show Timely interiors though.
  10. A repost from the GA thread, but I thought I'd post it here as well.
  11. It does seem nicer than a 5.0 to me as well. Not planning on selling it, so the grade is not crucial. I do try to migrate CBCS books that I pick up over to CGC holders when I get the chance. Normally, the grades have come back lower. I'm curious to see if that continues after their supposed tightening up of their grading.
  12. Interesting combination when you have a Classic cover designation on the right side of the label and no author attribution on the left side of the label. Or designated artist. I wonder what the story is like? I need to find an online copy, or crack this one out. Thanks for all the kind words guys, I really appreciate it. This was a book I've searched high and low for for a very long time.
  13. this one replaces my 5.5 I let go a couple years ago...
  14. A couple new ones that recently arrived. The Headline was the culmination of about 4 years of searching and pestering a boardie to part with their copy. A big thank you goes out to them. I need to set up my scanner as it's much more fresh looking in hand than this picture shows.
  15. Here's one... Was contemplating maybe selling this one.
  16. Agreed. a 7.5 of the book sold for what $2600? So a 6.5 would probably be a $1800+ book, so it basically went for ($3800) a little more than twice GPA... remember when that Boy comic went for 6x? Seems like cheaper books go for a higher multiplier (so basicly there's a "floor" for camp Okajimas) I pad about 4x GPA for my Master Comics, but higher price books seem to only get a 2x multipler or so... (based on very very sparse data) An 8.0 RD 7 sold for 4033 a few months later in Nov, which I think would make a 6.5 copy worth quite a bit more than that.
  17. it looks more like a 7.0 than a 5.0 - hidden flaws? Not really. Grader's notes indicate a number of small flaws. Apparently, CBCS interpreted those flaws as a 7.0 and CGC as a 5.0. Nothing there that would indicate the CBCS graders overlooked something. But, yeah, it is a very strong 5.0 to my eye. Without seeing a BC scan, I can't really say with any certainty but that book looks much better than a very strong 5.0 to me. What do the graders' notes say? I see absolutely no reason why that book would grade out at a 5.0. Here they be: multiple crease right top of front cover small tear center of staple small, multiple tear top of front cover tear top of back cover tear with crease right top of front cover Nothing much going on on the back cover. Just looks like a difference of opinion over what grade a book with these flaws should receive. This is a great looking book. Definitely more 7.0 than 5.0...
  18. Beautiful book, and good price.. Congrats to the buyer.
  19. Missed this. It was a PGX 5.0. Seems about right to me. or possibly a bit nicer.
  20. I've always really liked this cover. Great pick up!
  21. Congrats. He had a few nice books on eBay. I wonder what other over copies he had but didn't post for sale? Had this one been graded before?
