I’m working on the next phase of the roadmap, and I’m debating between adding live chat, “ask the owner a question”, or Reddit-style commenting on auctions. Would love to hear directly from you all on what you prefer
  15. Hey everyone! I'm the founder of Nerd Crawler, and for the past week, I've been working with Big Wow Art (rep for Frank Cho and others) to build Auctions on Nerd Crawler (https://www.nerdcrawler.com/auctions) to make it easier for him and other art reps and artists to run auctions for original art. In short, I've made Auctions on Nerd Crawler to be the opposite of eBay. Here's what that means: - No transaction fees: while eBay takes about 15% in fees Nerd Crawler doesn’t have any transaction fees. When an auction is over, the winner and owner will receive each other’s email addresses. They can then figure out a mutually agreed upon way to handle payment and delivery. This means no money moves through Nerd Crawler so there are no seller or buyer fees. - A true auction model: Unlike eBay, we'll add 10 seconds to the end time whenever someone bids. This means no more auction sniping and no more bots. If someone beats your bid at the last second, it won't matter! You'll have 10 more seconds to outbid them and score your piece. If you would like to sell on Auctions then a Founder’s Plan subscription is required. I’ve put this in place to ensure sellers are serious and to prevent fraud listing. But, assuming you’re selling a $1,000 piece, then I hope the $50/mo subscription fee is easier to swallow than eBay taking about $150 in fees per auction. Nerd Crawler has been my passion project for the last year, helping over 400 collectors get real-time alerts when new art drops, and I’m excited to partner with Big Wow to begin a new era of the product with Auctions. There are already a few auctions running so feel free to browse and bid by clicking here: https://www.nerdcrawler.com/auctions I would love to use this space to share new auctions and answer any feedback or questions so feel free to comment if you have any!
  16. I have two hobbies: collecting OA and coding apps. And in app development, they say build products you’ll use so you always have a happy customer. Well, this was definitely true a few weeks ago because Nerd Crawler (nerdcrawler.com) sent me alert for a new Paul Smith art drop, and I was able to score this grail Colossus x Kitty x Lockheed piece!
  17. Thanks for the feedback and for checking Nerd Crawler out! The CAF solution is great for sites that integrate with CAF, but I built Nerd Crawler to help those who wanted monitoring for non-CAF artists/dealers that have art that sells super fast (e.g Cadence Comic Art, Essential Sequential, Big Cartel sites for Jim Cheung and Dustin Nguyen, Capullo Grab Bags, Skottie Young daily sketches, etc.) I’m definitely hearing feedback around pricing so I’ll look into that. I was thinking of adding a plan for $1/crawler/month and that way people can spend however much or little they want. Let me know if you think that is better
  18. I made the shovel to help myself and a few friends, but I hope it helps others find pieces to add to their collection. If you have any thoughts to make Nerd Crawler a better shovel, let me know!
  19. CAF is awesome at providing alerts for a lot of sites. But, to my knowledge, they don't have provide text alerts, and they don't provide alerts for artists that use Big Cartel (e.g. Jim Cheung, Dustin Nguyen, etc.) and some art dealers like Cadence Comic Art, Modern Mythology Comic Art, etc.
  20. TL;DR - I'm Chris and I made Nerd Crawler to notify me when new original art and collectibles drop at my favorite sites, and I’m now opening it up to get feedback! —— I've been casually collecting original art since 2007, but recently, I've gotten more into it. But, after missing some great original comic art because I missed out on a social media post or I wasn't refreshing webpages all the time, I decided to take it upon myself to make an app that monitors original comic art and collectibles sites so we can get updates when new art/product drops. I decided to affectionately name it Nerd Crawler, and I’m building it myself so there might be some bugs but I’m hoping it helps us grow our collections while giving us time back to go live our lives. It works with over 50 sites including: The Art of Paul Smith, Essential Sequential, Cadence Comic Art, Kirby Comics Art Shop and a bunch of Big Cartel sites like Dustin Nguyen's, Jim Cheungs, Chris Bachalo's and more. If you’d like to try it out visit https://www.nerdcrawler.com/ to sign up for an account. I want this to be a helpful app for the community so if you have any feedback, let me know! [Note to the mods]: If this isn't okay to post, feel free to take it down. I'm just hoping to get the word out to other original art buyers now that Nerd Crawler is in public beta.
  21. I’m so excited to join the Capullo Grab Bag owners club! First, what did I get: The piece says it's a prelim for Last Knight on Earth #3 page 10, but after looking at the issue, it looks more like page 12. I’m super happy with what I got because there’s one good shot of Batman in the center of the page and one profile view of the cowl. It measures roughly 4x6 in the frame. I've also added the final page to compare, and it's super interesting to see how much the page evolves from prelim to final. Second, how did I get it: For those not familiar, Capullo drops a new grab bag randomly on his OA store, and as a new dad, it’s hard to find time to refresh the page waiting for the drop. After talking with other OA buyers who felt the same pain, I decided to make an app that would alert us when new art dropped on Capullo's and other OA sites. Thankfully, it worked, and the day of the drop, I got a text and scored the grab bag! After a private beta, the app is now open to the public, and for art that sells really fast like Capullo's, I recommend using the Founder’s Plan to monitor sites every minute and get a text when new art drops. If you use the code CHRIS when you upgrade you can get 20% off the first year: https://www.nerdcrawler.com/
  22. First post but I've recently gotten back into collecting original comic art, and I've been trying to get my hands on a piece by Gabriele Dell'Otto -- either a commission or an original page/cover. Does anyone know if he has a site or a dealer that reps his work?
