  1. I see two colour breaking ticks with another one possibly hiding in the glare…but for a cover with that much black it looks pretty nice. I’d say 9.0.
  2. This book would benefit from a C&P for sure. Even if you don’t get it graded it will look a lot nicer. However, I think some of the grime on the back might be foxing which I don’t think can be resolved with a basic dry clean. There is also a stain above the red E in “Mega”. I’m also not sure what is going on by Wolverine’s left thumb. I would guess 7.0 after C&P, but possibly higher depending on how thoroughly it can be cleaned.
  3. Calling occupants, of last tour-na-ment class! (Part One) Thanks for the nudge. Please include me.
  4. Colour breaking tics are the limiting factor. As mentioned, a press won’t change that. But I think a good press would help overall and could get it to an 8.0.
  5. Hi again, This needs a clean and press because there are some slight finger bends that don't really show in the scan. There are a few minor spin ticks and slight corner blunting visible mostly on the rear top spine.
  6. I am slowly compiling my first CGC submission. There is nothing like a high res scan to make you a little sad about your high grade key comics. There is slight corner blunting, at least seven colour breaking ticks, and what I hope is a production issue (like a roller issue or something) visible on the front and back. I think it still might be worthy of CGC grading.
  7. 9.4 Regarding a clean and press, the scans don’t show much need…but it could help ensure you don’t have any “light finger bends” type defects holding it back. Is it the scan/my eyes/iPad or is that back cover white with blue text? Is it a variant of a variant?
  8. Looks 8.0-8.5 to me. The blemish on Blade’s boot looks like a colour breaking fingerprint. Combined with the small corner crease I do not think this can make 9.0. Very nice book!!
  9. This was cleaned and pressed already. I don't think that stain on the back is going anywhere. It looks like it might actually be a printing error of some extra yellow ink. Thanks for your input!
  10. I bought this one for about 50 cents out of a box of returns in the late 80's. As it was a second print, and slightly larger than normal, it didn't even get bagged for quite a while. Fortunately it stayed in decent shape, and now 2nd prints are no longer the red headed step child of comics. The main defects I see are two colour breaking spine ticks, a tiny crease top right front cover, and both spine corners are slightly blunted. Thanks for your input!
  11. Hello, There are some slight wavy parts that you can detect in the front cover scan mostly beside The Tick's right shoulder, but I am assuming these will easily be resolved with a press. Slight blunting at all corners I would say. Thanks for your input.
  12. Hello again, last PGM for today. This one will get a clean and a press.
  13. Hello again, and thanks for your input. The colour rub on the bottom front is real. For the most part I can only see it with magnification, except for the corner which I can see but it looks minor.
  14. First off I want to say thank you to everyone on this forum that submits pictures for grading, and then follows up by posting the final results. I would also like to thank everyone that offers their grading input. I have mostly been a lurker as I polish my grading skills and gear up for my first CGC submission. This forum has been extremely helpful. Before I do submit I will post PGM requests so that I can follow up with final results and hopefully help others in the same way. This first book was one I had pulled to submit but now I am on the fence. The scans really make the colour rub on the spine (it's not a crease) look worse than when I look at it in hand...but now I can't unsee it. I also see three to four colour breaking ticks on each side now. Prior to the scan I thought there was only one. It's still a very nice comic but it may not make the cut this time.
  15. I saw the same crease! Fortunately for me it just looked weird enough that I compared it to another copy. It is part of the art, but my eyes still don't understand it.
  16. My grading skills are far from perfect which is why I am mostly a lurker on these message boards. However, I do not think your comic can exceed an 8.0. It looks like there are at least four significant colour breaking spine ticks that are present on both sides of the book, as well as some lesser ticks. The dirt in the price box and Marvel Comics logo can probably be cleaned, but I think the spot on Spidy’s left leg is damage of some sort. Corners are a bit soft. The rear top left corner appears to have a slight crease and a tiny chip just below that corner. Also, one of the photos shows some general scraping around Spidy’s legs (but some of that might be allowable on these types of covers…I don’t know). Good luck with the signature verification. You may want to try the Beckett online signature review for $10 first. They will review pictures and tell you if it is likely to pass a full authentication.
  17. I for one would have loved that information! I stared at that picture for so long and came down on the side of colour rub. I had a total of two points on the first four books, but I may already be statistically eliminated now based on my major wiff on that last book.
