  1. When we learned Wolverine's real name and he became bigger than the team.

When he quit smoking really irritated me as well. Not a smoker, but I thought it fit his character well.

(thumbs u Also, when they repaired the Hellfire guards after Wolvie sliced and diced them.

Yeah tht also bugs the hell out of me. I don't know for sure but did they ALL live and none die. I've seen lines that suggest both but usually more that they all became Reavers. I also didn't realize that story came only about 2 years later and not almost 100 issues later. It actually is a good idea for characters/storyline but you had to make it clear that some died and some became cyborgs and hell bent on destroying Wolverine. Too many people consider that Wolverine's definin moment to water it down like that.

Unfortunately Days of the Future Past is when it jumped the shark just because it open the doors to characters flying in from alternate future realities. I've never liked Cable but then X-Man....really ? And then Bishop with his mullet. They supposedly have mutant powers but just seem to use guns. I read what Uncanny X-Force was about and when I saw all the AOA characters mentioned, I thought Wow that sounds lame.

Totally agree. I think it was just as much to do with the new generation coming through like Lee and Liefield as well. The mutant saga was becoming convoluted enough till they started bringing Cable, Bishop etc in. I completely lost interest then.

  2. Ewan, you, I, and Andy were all frequenting the same pubs at the same time.

The pub was the Dickens, its still there. The Empire became the House.

Madisons was essential attendance for all student - you would see more people there than lectures lol

    Andrew :sumo:

    :sorry::foryou:

  4. That's brilliant Andy. Haven't seen it since it was on - around 1994 I reckon. Can't stand comic relief but we watched this by chance - we were on our way out and switched it on. Hilarious stuff.

Bob was a semi regular in our local (Star and Garter Andrew) around this time, especially after the Boro matches.

  5. Captain Britain holds a special place in my heart as it was the first series I collected every issue of as they came out.

I would strongly recommend the two book hardcover set; Birth of a Legend and Seige of Camelot, they reprint the whole original series, the Super Spidey and Hulk Comic stories, Marvel Team Up etc as well as original cover galleries, concept art and even designs for the mask, boomerang and jet free gifts. I have a copy of Birth of a Legend signed by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe

Oh, and coincidentally both these books are included in the Ltd Edition Comix donation to the

Jamie benefit sale so you can buy those and give To a good cause at the same time. ;)

Has the thread started? Didn't see anything in the PM to say it had?

  6. I have done a fair few of the eastern fells, Hellvellyn via striding edge is a good one, but I would only tackle it in good weather, lots of easier ones too.

Done that one twice now, Including last year and it was very windy and misty so couldn't see a thing. doh!

High Street is good and others along there too. If you park at the end of the village Hartsop there are plenty of directions you can head in. (thumbs u

  7. Cool pics. Is that Blancathra? Love that mountain. Where did you stay?

Were you in tents, because that wouldve been a cold night!

Yeah! Blencathra, we stopped at the White horse inn on the A66, it has converted some stables into bunk houses, they have heaters in, so it was OK.

(thumbs u never stayed there but enjoyed a pint or two there.

Looking for somewhere to climb this summer in the eastern Lakes. Will be at Appleby for Easter too.

  8. This type of book can get dated and irrelevant quite quickly, as well.

I meant the Marvel Fact Files / Who's Who magazines, not the GN collections Paul has.

    Yeah totally agree Paul.

The graphic novels reprint classic stories but the fact files will be out of date next week when Peter Parker becomes spidey again and we get a ret-con on the Surfer. (:
