  1. Gene - I will throw in my 2 cents feedback wise.  I went with my wife.  Loved the set up.  Super easy (and free!) parking.  Since we a little late, it was a breeze to grab our badges and waltz right in to the showroom.  We really liked the setup.  So nice not to be in cramped walkways between booths.  Although I will say, if you are going to let dealers use the side of their tables for also having boxes of books to dig through, the tables need a little bit more space between them.  Very easy to get stuck on the sides of tables.

Lots of tables for sitting and/or eating.  Finding a resting spot was never difficult.  Love that.  Easy access to catered food was cool, but the food was meh.  Maybe food trucks next time?

Couple of (relatively) minor issues -

    • Dealer and artist signage.  The show signage was on the front of the tables.  Guess what you can't see when there are people in front of the booth/table?  We did not love playing guess the artist/dealer.
    • Dealer variety.  First off - Great job bringing a lot of great dealers together.  I saw some books that I have never seen in person before - really cool.  Maybe try to have some more value oriented dealers as well?  Lee's Comics dollar book boxes were super popular, so I don't think I am alone in that sentiment.

We had a great time, although I could not quite find the right deal for me (spent more on entry than on actual books) and will probably go back next year.

  2. Been going to conventions since the early 90s - Met most of my comic book heroes over the years.  Most of them were extremely nice.  Couple tidbits of note:

    • Chris Claremont - As you can probably guess by my avatar, he was a big one for me.  He was totally nice but he didn't bother to ask how to spell my name and used the less common variant.  So I have a personalized X-men 101 with my name misspelled.  Amusing story anyway.
    • Paul Smith - Another biggie for me - Didn't realize he would be at the show I went to, so I had to dig through vendor boxes to find a book for him to sign. Couldn't find any of his X-men run, had to settle for a fill in Iron Man issue he did.  So I have a Iron Man with a little Lockheed drawing on it.

I would have loved to meet Byrne and Austin at some point, maybe one day....

Quick question:  Am I tripping or were there smaller than magazine sized versions of the early issues?

Fantasy Quarterly #1 is regular comic size. Not sure if this is what you are thinking of but Marvel reprinted the entire original series in color in the mid 80s under their Epic line in regular comic size.

Just a couple more for today, then likely one last tiny little bump in the morning, and we'll call it a day.

Justice League America 31 - Adam Hughes first DC work: I've got 9 7 of these, four  3 Newsstands and five 4 directs. Average VF, some a little nicer than others. First to claim gets their pick. I didn't scan them all (time is tight) but am happy to provide scans upon request. Otherwise assume that the average is around VF, with a couple closer to NM, and probably a couple closer to fine. $3 each

    1 ea newsstand & direct to @Toz
