I would have bought that 9.0 #129 in a minute, but being asked to pick up the PP fees is a HUGE turn-off. Too bad, that would have been an instant sale.
Didn't want to in his thread, but I hope he see this.

I believe there to be less than 5,000 printed. I'm basing it on the number crunching I did back then and my memory. My memory may be faulty, but I was stunned Marvel even published it with the dismal numbers I had calculated.
It was done as a personal favor for a friend of a senior staffer.

DCP3 by Willie Lumpkin, on Flickr
Found this one at a garage sale last week! Found a ton of DC Whitmans from my childhood while going through my collection to get ready for Mid-Ohio con. Most in "well loved" condition. Great memories of picking these up in 3 packs at Zayre's (kind of like a Kmart).
Zayre's! What a flashback. I grew up in Elyria with Zayre's, Gold Circle, Hill's...and they all carried Whitman 3-packs.

Finally able to start buying again after a short lull . Tried using Gavelsnipe for the first time on ebay today since my new job's conflicted with the end of the auction. It failed; so I lost out on some decent looking Westerns I was wondering if anyone on here won and would the mind sharing scans when they arrive. It was the lot containing Kid Colt 106, 108, 110, 112, 113. Mainly interested in seeing the 106 and 112 since I think those would've been upgrades for me.
I was there til the end, too. Someone really wanted those!

Seeing what happened during this auction makes me glad I decided to unload my 8.0-8.5 JiMs a few months ago - I sold 12 at Clink and not one of them went for under $300.
I would have been pretty fired up if they were all stacked up like they were this time.

Been a slow go adding books as of late. I guess that is what happens when the numbers you need get low.
Picked this one up off Ebay.

Gorgeous books Bob! You and Dr. X must have picked over the cream of the pre-hero selection at the show, and I'm very envious!
I stayed home from Chicago, unfortunately, but did manage to pick this up on eBay last night. I've been wanting to start collecting this short run for ages, and picking this beauty up seemed like a fine place to finally start it. Sorry for the crappy eBay pic, I'll post a new scan when I get it in hand.
You beat me by a measly $10!
If it makes you feel better that was the minimum raise, my actual bid was quite a bit stronger. Bidding an extra $11 wouldn't have done the trick!
That does help! (thumbs u

Good eye. Mine has a bonus date stamp over the Hulk logo...

I've been enjoying reprint books that had all new covers drawn for them. Especially when they were drawn by guys like Starlin or Kane.
Been after a nice copy of this for ages, hopefully picking one up soon, it is a great cover.
Starlin draws a great Hulk.
Ebay purchase? Looks nice, what grade would you put it at?
It must be fate with this book this week. I found this copy at a LCS in South Carolina while visiting family.

For those who care about such things Strange Tales #97 is notoriously miscut. Some copies include an open mouth on woman woman at the bottom, others are cropped. I prefer the open mouth version.
