  1. Wow - Hank, that is a thing of true beauty.
  2. I know what you mean - these books have real appeal. If the local post office hadn't returned a parcel to the US for no good reason, I'd have some of my own to post here. Maybe in another couple of weeks.
  3. Allow me to be the first... Oooo - and nice PQ too.
  4. That's Scrooge returning from a trip to Australia - I'm glad the books made it over safe and sound!
  5. Color touch! Bondage cover too. Great copy of a great book that I've never heard of. OS price is over the top but probably realistic given the scarcity and chances of finding one in nice condition. It looks like there was a partial reprint (68 out of 212 pages) in 1991. Anyone have one to compare? Jack As it happens, I think one of those reprints is on Australian ebay today.
  6. My apologies. But if I see another one I'll let you guys know. This is either the second one I've owned, or one I've owned twice. (If that makes sense.) I'm keeping it this time though.
  7. With the Aussie dollar bumping around in the low 60s against the USD lately, I've revisited my collection of Australian Disneys. Here's a couple of recent arrivals that I think have no US counterpart. There were 11 Fethry Duck issues in the G series (a bit like the FC series) and I now have 9 of them. I've never seen O. O. Duck anywhere else (this is certainly his only cover title in the Australian run). And then there's this one. At first look it may seem out of place in the duck thread, but it was the back cover I was after. This is (as far as I know) the only Barks work that made its debut in Australian comic. (The gag got bumped for an ad in the US edtition.) There were more Australian issues of Lil Bad Wolf than ran in the US, so they were cobbled together with various odds and ends, and this one-pager somehow ended up in this 1961 comic. Cheers, Andrew
  8. Nice one. I bought one of these a while ago from Todd Klein (which is kind of nice given his association with Don Rosa's work), but they routinely go for over $100 on eBay. In time I think this will be a hard to find issue. I wrote to the Overstreet folk and pointed out the scarcity and price of this one - which is not reflected in any price guide - and mentioned that even Bruce Hamilton was buying them back for $50 in 2004. I don't suppose the new guide will be changed, but this is an issue you won't find at guide!
  9. Excellent books! I need the WDC&S in case you do decide to sell So do I if you decide to auction... Excellent books indeed. Well, Ciorac gets first dibs on the WDC & S but the other two are listed in the Forum Selling area right now with nice discounts off of 2007 OSPG prices. If Ciorac passes I'll offer the book to you! (thumbs u Fair enough too - my comment was intended as a little joke. Go for it Bill. (thumbs u

  11. I don't - yet. But this is a great resource. Next rainy weekend...
  12. Just picked up a couple of nice Australian WDC&S. No31 is April 1949 and No 243 is 1966. (We changed from the British pounds, shillings and pence to dollars and cents in early '66.) The sixpence (6d) issue has only four colour pages internally. All of the rest are B&W. Both Walt Kelly covers, I believe. (Shameless plug time: I have Pogo and duck books for sale over on the selling thread.) Cheers, Andrew.
  13. I just got two absolutely smoking Pogo books from 143ksk. Thanks Steve!
  14. Here's one from me. Was anyone better at funny animal covers than Walt Kelly?
  15. Nice get Matthew. That is one sweet book and one high on my must buy list. I'm waiting on acouple of nice ducks myself - I have joined the beak abuse appreciation society!
  16. Great start to a GA collection Spidey!! Once she is gone, you'll have more money. Use some to by Arklites for youe slabs. Hmmm - that certainly wasn't my experience... but I did have more space for comics, so a partial win.
  17. good point, I noticed the schedule looked off. I am most distressed about the news of their not having paid the printer for the EC Archives. I was hoping the project would reach completion ... I've ordered and pre-paid Weird Science IV - I'm starting to wonder if that was smart.
  18. I haven't seen a new WDC&S or Uncle Scrooge for well over two months. I know Gemstone haven't been the most reliable publisher of late, but coupled with the thread on Diamond's problems, I wonder if we have seen the last of those titles? Anyone know any different?
  19. Great collection! Makes me want to get some myself! Matthew, if you re-read the end of my post, I'm sure we could make that happen.
  20. Here's my contribution. I had Pogo as one of my priorities for 2009. I just love Walt Kelly's covers and these are charming books. As it happened, I didn't have to wait long. In January an ebay seller listed #1-15 'in VF except for one or two'. Well, I didn't really expect that, but what I got was a lot that ranged from VG (only one, #5) with the rest F+ to VF+. I already had #16 (but have a better one coming from the VCC). But I couldn't wait to show off the group so, without further ado, here is the run of Dell Pogo Possum (still gotta find the two Four Color issues). [blatant plug - selling thread of undercopies coming soon...]
  21. How'd you go finding a #6? I started a thread in the WTB forum last year about it. It is a very tough issue in mid to high grade. Only two in the census (an 8.0 and a 6.5 from memory) compared to 20-odd for the ones around it. I'm still looking for one - I have 1-71 in 6.0 or better except for that one. I'd settle for a nice 5.0 There were two overgraded "VF"s on ebay last year (both were about 7.0). Both went well above guide for VF and I was the underbidder on both. Anyone else have this problem?
  22. I have noticed that, but it's because you are buying up all the issues I want! One of the things that lead me to focus on Ducks right now is I was STUNNED by the lack of pre #50 WDCS at the NY con. there were a few, all very overpriced low grades. I expected to have my pick and just couldn't believe it. Just based on ebay prices for duck books over the last few years, I expect the new Overstreet to show a fair bump for early WDC&S and DD four colors. Not so much Uncle Scrooge - low and mid grade copies still go cheaply, although the high grade ones are more robust than they have been.
  23. I know we've had one of these posted lately, but mine arrived today and I'm delighted with it. I thought we could spare a few pixels for a pic. It looks even nicer in hand in a shiny new mylar.
