  1. Let me know if you ever want to get rid of an US #6. Ditto...
  2. Cool - I've got some ducks on my wall as well. (Not that one though.) The Barks library cover prints make great posters. Mine alternate with EC (sci-fi) cover prints - also great decorations. (Note to self: get Wings #79 )
  3. Proof, if it was required, that you can't make a panda scary.
  4. Just bought my first few Wings. This is the splash from #105 (and, yeah, I wish it had better PQ too):
  5. No, but I've been selling off books for four months to be able to afford just one of this batch of cool books. It's true, he has. Thanks for the WDC&S Jon.
  6. Great book to pickup Michael! One that's been on my top ten list for some time now. It must be nice to be able to buy books at shows. With some rare exceptions, I'm limited to what turns up on ebay, Heritage and here on the boards. Somewhere out there there's a FC 238 with my name on it...
  7. Fabulous Jumbos. I've just bought a few Wings - starting to think that Fiction House might feature big in my future. These seem to be great books that are reasonably priced - just my mark.
  8. A couple of mini-groups I've been working on are now done. Dell war bond issues from 1944 (left) and 1945. These are comics I routinely show to non-comics folk who visit. I've found that these almost always attract interest, even more than some of the more 'recognisable' titles. Looking through Gerber, I notice the 1944 war bond shows up on a couple of issues of Target Comics - which I'd like to add to this group at some stage. There's also a couple of other Patriotic/war bonds Dell covers from 1942 and 1943. I have a couple, but I'm looking for Animal Comics #9 and WDC&S #20 if anyone has a lead on them...
  9. He also had/has a WDC&S #20 that he grades at good which is brittle to the point of most of the internal pages being loose. To be fair, the cover presents well and he discloses the damage in the ad. But I think it's clearly overpriced.
  10. Nice one Peter. I've always been confused as to why this is the 'Giant' series when they are the same size as all the other Aussie reprints - i.e. 32 pages including the front cover. (Which meant that the 32 page stories like 'Only a Poor Old Man' had to have a page cut - I don't have that one; what was cut from the Dell issue?) But it turns out that the even earlier ones had 24 pages (I have a few of those now). In terms of quantity the early Aussie reprints left a lot to be desired! Cheers, Andrew
  11. Now that's a great use of the restorer's art. Good decision. (thumbs u
  12. Wow - awesome collection you guys have put together. Well done! As for the sales thread - just read the guidelines and you'll be fine. Or you could send me a list first...
  13. And another couple - I had to get one of these after being reminded by the Aussie reprint what a great Barks cover it had. And what's not to like about beak abuse? Mmmm, beak abuse. I think my post-Scrooge collection focus will be 'WDC&S - the first ten years'. Don't hold your breath on this one guys...
  14. Snagged this on ebay for $60 and was very pleased with the book when it arrived.
  15. I know it's a long shot, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. If anyone is interested in a lot of nice Gold Key Uncle Scrooge issues at Heritage , I would like the #56 and would be happy to kick in some $$ to help win the lot. PM me if interested. Cheers, Andrew
  16. Now,did you source that locally? Hi Duffman, that one came from Canada. Unless things are different where you are, GA ducks are very hard to find in Australia - unless of course we're talking the Aussie reprints. I got this miswrapped but otherwise nice copy last week (even though I picked this one up in New Zealand!) One of my favourite Barks covers. I must get the Dell version - a low grade copy long since sold was my first ever Dell.
  17. This one's been near the top of my list for a while now - very pleased to tick it off. The gloss on this copy has to be seen to be believed. It's a beauty. Now to find a CP1 to go with it...
  18. 'Fighter planes as big as bombers!" Last time I checked, there was a reason they weren't...
  19. Love this thread - such a varied series! How many to go Scrooge?
  20. Both. I hear and obey Jon. Watch this space - I landed a Kelly WDC&S on eBay today, but it will take a little while before it gets here. Suffice to say I am very pleased indeed... Oh, and thanks everyone for your kind words. I love my Scrooge run - seven years in the making but a lot of fun.
  21. I thought I'd finish off the Scrooge 1-71 pictures. That goes to the end of the Barks original run. OK, 67 is a reprint, but I got it with some others and it's a drop dead gorgeous copy, so I've left it in. These lots are 41-50, 51-60, 61-71 I'm still looking for a VF or better #56 (which has the only long colour-breaking crease in the whole run), but otherwise I think I'm done with this series because I'm not really interested in collecting 72-209. (I have some of them, plus all of the Gladstone/Gemstone ones and I suspect I'm not missing anything with the Boom issues.) I'm not sure what comes next - maybe the Walt Kelly covers WDC&S, or some more of these?
  22. Huge kudos to Mr Bedrock for a sweet deal on a couple of awesome early Uncle Scrooge books. Arrived here in Australia within a week in bombproof packaging. Richard, you're the best!
