  1. A huge thank you to ciorac for a bunch of gorgeous WDC&S books at a big discount from guide. Just another great board transaction.
  2. Glad you finally got a 9.6 copy of this book! In my experience this is one of the tougher later Gold Key Barks books to find in nice shape. I'm not a chaser of 9.x (though I do admire them) - I'd rather have have more 8.0s for the same $. But this one has been trouble. I recently got a 7.5 and thought I'd done well.
  3. I absolutely agree Jon...30 days is a pretty horrendous effort to pay for a book or ship a book. But what I think the 30 days establishes is the "horrendous" threshold if you will, thus qualifying someone to be placed on probation...even more so if the person is non-communicative and/or brings a pain-in-the-azz attitude about it to the person on the other end of the transaction... This about sums up the purpose. As everyone knows, most books bought and sold here on the Boards are shipped and received within a week. and even with internatonal shipping 30 days is plenty of time (thumbs u Yep - even from Australia. I think 20 days is the longest anything I've shipped has taken, and that was to Greece. The US is more like 10-12.
  4. I feel almost unworthy given some of the recent posts. Not quite 9.6 Four Color goodness from me, but I continue to chip away at my collection of 1964 Australia/New Zealand Mobil giveaway ducks and mice. This one was last week's effort - and a nice copy of a hard to find early release. I won a #11 on ebay yesterday, so I'll subject you to that in due course. 16 down, 8 to go. This one is a NZ edition (it has a staple rather than being glued).
  5. Big kudos to Ciorac for a wonderful Weird Science sent to Australia in bomb-proof packaging. Thanks Bill! Weird Science....
  6. Here's another WWII cover. (Not as nice as Ken's though!) But I like it. I've also put this in the grading forum if anyone wants a go...
  7. Beautiful copy too! I want to put together a mini-theme of WWII WDC&S covers. It would include this one, 46 and 58. I'm waiting on a 58 I bought last week and am watching for the others. Congratulations on your win. Dare I ask how much it cost?
  8. Cool - there were some Australian covers which 'borrowed' from Dell comics as well. I'll see if I can scan a few. Andrew
  9. Praise be to skybolt for making a copy of Wings #87 wing it's way to Australia in bombproof packaging.. My wife loves it - I'm just about done convincing her she could handle a 50 cal while wearing 4 inch heels too...
  10. I supect that the store mistook it for a reprint - I might be wrong, but didn't gemstone re-use that cover on a VP?
  11. So, I was silently jealous of all those Vacation Parade # 1 owners ... Today, I walked into a 1/2-price book store and the first book I see is a FC Lost in the Andes priced at $ 800, that's right, no typo, $ 800 Huhoh ... I doubt I'll find something to buy in these parts until I found this more reasonable $10 book (well, I had a coupon too ) I don't know what the guy pricing these was on but I am not complaining I missed out on one on eBay that sold for $200 and it wasn't that nice. Nice pickup - he says through gritted teeth. But at least I know my FC223 is worth $800.
  12. I can see why! Whoa! Yeah - if there's only two Ducks in the pile, they'd be near the top of the list.
  13. Finally gave up on finding one in F or better? Other than mine, I haven't seen one. I haven't given up, but I thought this was a very presentable lower-grade copy and I was keen to have this run complete. I now have all of the original Barks Uncle Scrooge issues from FC 386 to #71. Pre-internet, this was unthinkable for me-I can remember buying the Barks Library when it came out because there was no way I'd ever own the originals. Next up - DD Four Colors and WDC&S....
  14. These beauties turned up today. This one was in a slab (emphasis 'was') - one of the 'other' companies. As a result it was slightly overgraded, but still nice. This one was an upgrade (the old one is in the sales thread). 7 Cities... And this one completed my Barks Scrooge run. (Yay!) I paid VG price for it, but it looks nicer than that in hand. Group shot to follow. And, yes, I know it's trimmed, but I'll live with it for now.
  15. Or Dodo with Gladstone and Frog with Donald.
  16. Lucky I have that one, or I would be seriously jealous. I think I paid more than $3.50 though... Nice pickup. (thumbs u
  17. Have you joined the Junior Justice Society of America? Do I win something?
  18. I got another shipment today (there'll be one more soon and then a long hiatus while the bank account catches up...) First up is a FC 275 (Ancient Persia). These classic Barks Four Colors are really hitting the spot right now. (Totem Poles to come later.) Then a couple of WDC&S with great Kelly covers. Odd staple placement on these ones - but it is a production fault, not a later addition. Luckily the wide offset on #99 is just outside the panel border in the first half of the book, so it remains completely readable.
  19. Now I have to say all over again! Sometimes I hate being in the wrong time zone for the selling forum. All jokes aside, great pickup and congratulations .
  20. On my list (as is the VP). Nice books folks.
  21. I am humbled at being deemed important enough to establish cred with. I just like funny books. Those are nice books Peter, including some I don't have. I shall take comfort that they are now on the same continent. P.S. Your books are in the mail if my daughter remembered to post them on the way to school.
  22. I love reading my books. I tend not to read the serials out of order. I have a spreadsheet page with the MM serials so that I can keep track of what parts I have. I go and read then when I have all of the story. Between the US and Australian editions, I have quite a few complete ones now.
