Large blocks of text with illustrations - a bit like story books for kids, but very much not for kids. It was an attempt to avoid the comics code.

Cover art almost certainly by New Zealand born Maurice Bramley.

No I don't have a #1. A VGish copy sold for $650 recently - expensive enough for me not to have won it! Great cover though - have a look at it in the GCD:

It was an Australian only title. John Dixon did a lot of comic work, but is best remembered for a long-running strip he created - Airhawk. You can see some of it here. https://issuu.com/comicoz/docs/airhawkcyberspaceintroductionpromotional

"He's always doing that, the fool. Anyway, has anyone noticed my eyeliner? It's from Revlon's Equine range. And making my tail go against the wind isn't easy you know. But no, you go and concentrate on Dave forgetting his feathers again, eh"

That's right. And the book is large so the double pages aren't too small. It measures 22 x 30 cm (8.75 x 12 inches).

No, like all the Jane comics, it's a collection of comic strips originally published in the UK. Contents are black and white. For background on the source material see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_(comic_strip)

Ha. As I posted this I was thinking it was the kind of obscure variant stuff Marwood would like.
There was a change of publisher after #32. The publisher of this one was responsible for the other 'multiple price variant' titles.

Joking aside, that's a lovely cover. The matt effect seems to enhance it somehow. A proper old throwaway comic.
