Great book!

Yeah I scoured a bunch of GA and SA keys and the prices are all WELL over GPA on everything. I mean like a 10K book is up there for 20K. I am sure there are probably some decent deals to be had somewhere, but I couldn't find any.

I actually like the app and user interface. Too bad most pricing I see looks like it is still from January 2022 instead of almost January 2023.

That is a great book! I am really enjoying the ride here. My life is simple. I put together an easy run of Silver Surfer V1 in 8.0 or higher. Everything else is just SA/BA keys, and GA covers I like. Total hodgepodge. The SS run was easy (especially in 8.0 +), and still took some time just to find them all. It's crazy what you are attempting here. I once thought about trying to do X-Men 1-50, with 15-50 all in 9.0 +, and the best I could afford for 1-14. I was too lazy to even attempt that, and it is orders of magnitude easier than what you are doing. Again, keep going. I check this thread often for updates.

This book slays me. The look on her face of terrified acceptance of her fate, the car in the background...it just all works perfectly.

Okay Round 2 of 2022: The Year in Review. 7 in this go. As previously stated I think I have 3-4 more coming in the next couple weeks from auction houses that I will add on then. Anything beyond that will go in next years thread. Such fun!

I picked up Suspense 11 recently, as that is my personal favorite cover of the run, and with that now in the collection it makes me want Mask 2 even more to have the "set." Haven't seen Suspense 11 mentioned (though to be fair I did not read every single page in the thread), so I figured the twin devils needed a shoutout.

A couple months ago I went over 100 slabbed comics, to go with about 5 long boxes of just random stuff (nothing over 20 bucks a book) from my youth (79-87). I recall surveying my stash and thinking that I had really accomplished something. Then I see something like this and realize I am just a peasant. It is so cool to me that collections like this exist, even if I will never have 1/1000th of it.

It's such a great book, and yes I have been noticing the huge price surge on GA the last several months. With the way SA/BA is taking a dump it makes me wonder if collectors just left SA/BA for GA en masse so a bunch of money is pouring in. That's exactly what I did tbh. I am sure I am not alone. No matter the cause that's a great book!

Okay, I went nuts and bought a pile. I suppose I will do this in stages. Start with 10 that are not in the safe, then maybe eventually add some of the others. I also have 3 or 4 still coming in from Auction Houses that I will add next year after they arrive. Got a couple at CGC as well which I assume will be part of the 2023 thread next year. I just bought stuff that I liked for whatever reason. Hero, Sci-fi, Horror, Crime, GGA, whatever. No real collecting goals other than getting covers/artists that I like. Had a ton of fun with this. Will certainly buy way less next year, but hopefully still have fun with it.

Shock Suspenstories 6 is on my must find list for 2023. Bid on a couple in 2022 but no joy.

This is exactly where I am at. The value of most SA/BA keys are likely 20-25% above whatever they were trading at late 2019, and for the exact reasons you mentioned. So, most SA/BA stuff still have a bit further to fall, but not a ton. I have been buying the dip for 8 months, and it has cost me a pretty penny, but the bleeding will stop eventually, I do also agree, and this might be the painful part, that we will probably see stagnant/low growth for many years. Call it "the craze" hangover effect. But, solid minor keys, and especially the mega keys (ToS 39, FF 1, Hulk 181, ASM 129, etc.) will continue to be relatively bulletproof over the long haul. I also strongly agree with many others who see Gold as the way to go. I have abandoned my "buy the dip" strategy completely, and am focusing almost exclusively on GA. There is true rarity there, and the covers and art are amazing - things like Chills 19, Venus 19, Suspense 3, Crime Suspense 22, Black Cat 50, and a host of others are true classics and I think a bunch of collectors will move there in the coming years. I see weakness and stagnation for a while in SA/BA, but relative strength in GA. It's all just my opinion though Educated guessing. I am not even going to get into my thoughts on modern/spec stuff. Too much of a can of worms. Heh.
