  1. I'm just now reading that he relisted the item, no way that's an 'accident' . He is playing us and he got caught. And why does he keep playing the medical card ? It's got nothing to do with anything. I think he has lost all all credibility here. Definitely should go on everyone's naughty list.
  2. While I understand your viewpoint, I just don't see how CGC can maintain the integrity of their SS service and still grandfather in sigs on old books. The Yellow Label means a CGC witness was present when the book was signed. By definition, how can they accept your old signatures ? My only suggestion is to not submit books with old signatures.
  3. I'm just reading this thread now so I was able to see how the big picture played out. There's a lesson to be learned here about the Boards psychology. You posted expecting to raise the Boards ire and have your back. Didn't happen and you got angry about it. A couple observations about your first post. You were vague, didn't give much detail, and you gave us a directive on what we should do. The Boards don't like to be told what to do. You should have presented your case and let them decide. Your angry responses only mucked up the situation even more. In your first post, you didn't mention the popped staple, you didn't mention he sent it to CGC (which would explain the long wait to file a claim), and worst of all you didn't mention you had the wrong return address. I have to put myself in the other guy's shoes and maybe he's not the 'fraudster' you are claiming he is. Being out the grading fees and two return shipments would be difficult for many. Based on your attitude here, I can also understand the harassment claims. I'm sorry but I think you should walk away. I also don't understand why you simply didn't give the guy a partial refund, it happens all the time.
  4. After further review, with the given pic of the front cover and all the glare, I cannot ascertain a grade. I seem to see something like 15 deep spine ticks but some of the tics may be glare.
  5. I did not mean to imply it looked bad, it does not look bad. However, the big number will say 9.4 and the front cover is far from 9.4. Usually, with a 'normal' double cover, the two grades will be quite close, if not the same. In this case, there is a big disparity.
  6. Personally, I hate toploaders. The books can swim around inside them, resulting in worse damage.
  7. The way it was phrased was a very good imitation of your pun thread !!
  8. Yes, a very generous grade on the 8.5 but, as you stated, irrelevant. I wonder if CGC is generous in this situation to discourage the removal of the first cover ? I do think the eye appeal of that first cover will discourage some buyers.
  9. Sorry, you did misunderstand me. I said 'Upon the resto, they gave me a credit on the FMV of the book.' So, they gave me credit for the difference in the FMV I was charged to the FMV of the Restored. However, this bears repeating, this can only be done on a Walkthrough tier.
  10. Very true, however, if they were perceived to be strict about it, it would raise the conflict of interest question. In the bigger business picture, it behooves them to be lenient. Honestly, of all the things people complain about, I never hear complaints about getting bumped. It's only happened to me a couple, maybe 3 times and I was ecstatic about it.
  11. Cheers back at ya ! Just curious what aspect of this you find a bit unfair ? Most seasoned submitters don't over declare, usually submitting in the lower tier for a tweener. CGC has still performed all the work. It would not be fair to them to rebate your money if you simply didn't like the results.
  12. Don't over analyze this. CGC is very lenient with the tier selection. They can, at their discretion, bump you to a higher tier if necessary. Usually, this is a good thing as you pay a little more but you have a higher than expected grade on your book. Also, keep in mind, your insurance through this whole process is based on what you declare.
  13. If more than 3K, you are supposed to submit as a Walkthrough. You can put it in Express and, upon grading, CGC may bump you to the higher tier. The restored question happened to me once on an AF15 . I submitted it as a Walkthrough and was billed at FMV. Upon the resto, they gave me a credit on the FMV of the book. Note, this is only true of Walkthrough. If a resto is discovered on any other Tier, too bad.
  14. With all the Pedigree collections coming to market since, the Northland books are somewhat overlooked. Introduced before CGC and the advent of pressing, the collection was extensive and the books really nice. I saw the collection at a Motor City Con but it was really picked over by then. I'm not sure who got first shot, maybe Harley and some other dealers ? Still, I wish I had bought more when I saw the collection.
  15. Here's my copy. I got this from Richard Bedrock a number of years ago, a trade up transaction using a 9.0 + cash. Unless something falls into my lap, this is my keeper copy.
  16. As a kid, being only able to buy two comics a week, I resisted purchasing any FF's. However, upon seeing #21, I had to buy it. For sentimental reasons this will always be my favorite FF.
  17. I'm curious if anyone has tried to collect all the printings of Bone #1 . I know there has been many. Here's a pic of some subsequent printings......
  18. This is not the place to post this. Requests for purchase or sales in an appreciation thread is frowned upon. We have a designated thread for Want to Buys, please post there.
  19. You are both correct, it depends on the severity of the flaws. He said it cannot have two NOTICABLE flaws, two hidden flaws that are discreet, maybe. Let me put it to you like this, if you purchased your book in a 9.8 slab, would you be happy ? Most would come here and complain about CGC's grading. I'm sorry but your book is not 9.8, better than 8.5, but not 9.8 .
  20. Thanks for the validation. This has happened to me a couple times in the past but in both cases the offer was more than double the purchase price. One was like a 350.00 offer on a 150.00 book and the other was something like 250.00 on a 100.00 book. To even bother with a 10% offer seems ridiculous.
  21. I just received an offer, through Clink, of a book I just won in auction. Just curious what you guys think. Roughly, it was a 200.00 book that I would net 20.00, so 10%. I turned it down with a vengeance. First off, what the heck is 20.00 nowadays, maybe lunch ? I can understand a low ball offer on a book for sale but he is approaching me. Crazy.
  22. Yes, they really have to inspect those centerfolds to make sure they are securely attached !
