  1. I'm a big fan of EC artists such as John Severin. His preferred genre was war.
  2. Too much of a clue. Part of the puzzle is identifying the art style.
  3. More about many prices escalating way beyond what's practical for those of us on limited incomes, compared to what was achievable when I started here back in 2008.
  4. Not at all. You've got a lot there to be enthusiastic about.
  5. Always great to read an account from someone else who genuinely cares about the comics for their stories and art and not as a speculative commodity. The books I've purchased since joining the boards have all been about that same personal connection in some way rather than analysing how they're trending financially. It's coincidental that a few of them have done well price-wise because of the films. Congrats on the books, and the amazing sense of achievement, satisfaction and closure expressed in your post.
  6. I'm still not that impressed with the power descriptions. Instantaneous access to Google rather than it taking me five seconds to open an app and access it on my smartphone. Not exactly as impressive as x-ray vision.
  7. 'Her “magic backpack” is actually a pocket dimension with seemingly infinite space, from which she can pull out useful or random objects—it’s not always under her control.' Accessing random objects doesn't sound like a particularly useful ability, and, against the wrong opponent, potentially fatal. For example, against Thanos you'd want to specifically retrieve an Infinity Gem, not get a potato instead.
  8. Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) was very good across two series. Tom King's Vision, Al Ewing's Immortal Hulk, Waid and Samnee's Daredevil; the usual, commonplace thread recommendations. Jonathan Hickman's work seems polarising, but I like his Fantastic Four, Avengers, Infinity and Secret Wars. During this time of pandemic withdrawal, I may read though his epic, high-concept Secret Wars storyline again, which actually had quite a few high quality mini-series tie-ins as well. Either seen as overblown, drawn-out and pretentious by some, or, I favour a common alternative description; Crisis on Infinite Earths cranked up to 11.
  9. I'm not that competitive. Just fun for me.
  10. Yup. You had to be careful. It could be a harsh upbringing.
  11. For Protestants on here, it's the "Advent Calendar Game".
  12. Bad idea, maybe boring, but there are much worse ideas such as Marville or Jeph Loeb's Ultimatum.
  13. Sounds a bit too topical in our current pandemic situation. Timing could’ve been better.
