  1. I wonder how many boardies phoned in their vote to end Jason Todd?
  2. Yup. Typical Jungian response to a ubiquitious, invisible, potentially injurious or lethal, indefensible threat, now amped up by ease of access to information. Cro-Magnon's sabretooth cat, hiding in the darkness, or a 21st century virus, it's much the same basic reaction and anxiety.
  3. I'm on some antidepressant medication that has the strange side effect of producing unusually large stools in some people. Despite experiencing this increased volume myself, I'm surprised at how well my usual stock of toilet roll is holding up, even during this crisis period.
  4. Very true. At the first comic mart I went to, here in England in the late 70s, I bought Conan 25 to 40 or so, pence copies, really nice condition, immediately on entering - and that was it for the day, no more money to spend. Too enthusiastic. Nothing really that special even back then, but nice to be able to continue on after completing the BWS run. The one big difference between then and now, for me, is that I tend to forget that the events used to stink of nicotine and cigarette smoke in those confined rooms.
  5. Yup. Now that you mention it, very similar to his sig on one of my slabs. Missed it.
  6. The one on the right is possibly Howard Chaykin.
  7. A great collection, with superb remastered artwork quality.
  8. Certainly very nice presentation for the grade.
  9. The early 2000s equivalent, a prancing emo kid with a ridiculous haircut.
  10. Yup. That page has totally destroyed my IQ. Hopefully it's temporary.
  11. I really don't know. I can't help. This page of comic book drivel has caused my brain to shut down. Rational thought, impossible.
  12. Maybe if they'd disguised the beatnik actor as an android it would've made him more relatable. No wonder the more straightforward soap opera over at Marvel was more appealing.
  13. The work was never ending. Eventually there was a night-time detective and paranormal activity agency as well.
  14. There's plenty of it, just like Knightboat in The Simpsons. Doesn't matter if it's at sea, an inlet, canal or fjord, there's always criminal activity.
  15. “Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up.”
  16. Possibly it was about working with the restrictions of the Comics Code and trying to be inventive, imaginative to compensate. With a tight, monthly deadline, limited time to fine-tune ideas, not surprising that many of the plots and concepts were ill-considered, bizarre, utterly ridiculous or extremely bad science.
  17. I prefer white pagers. Mainly collecting back to late Silver Age. Sometimes difficult to find white pages when looking for 70s underground comix, such as Richard Corben material in my case.
  18. Being clinically OCD, already using hand gel and not shaking hands, it’s new for me to watch the general public being desperate for sanitiser and far more disturbed by the outbreak than I am. I would’ve thought I’d be far more paranoid, but maybe I’m already pretty much maxed out.
  19. I thought it might’ve been mould. Common in our extremely damp country.
  20. To continue with the same subject matter.. Very accurate. Rather than lachrymal secretion, the emergency service prefers to use a large diameter hose forcing out gallons of water under extremely high pressure.. Far more effective.
  21. 1977 or so, that would've been fine. But, he does have email and is computer literate. At least it wasn't a postal order.
  22. Nice to see other boardies reading material from different Ages, and great variety.
  23. Personally, the only super-hero films that I’m particularly bothered about watching at a cinema this year are Wonder Woman, and The Eternals, especially the latter which is year end anyway, and hopefully well past the peak of the virus.
