    The first film was primarily an update of the SA origin and Denny O’Neil’s Obadiah Stane, the third primarily Ellis and Granov’s Extremis storyline. He’s far from the only significant architect involved there. A pity he can’t be just as grounded about it as the others.

    Good point. I only picked the title up again in the late 80s with Armor Wars (issue 225) and didn't backtrack from there. It's the armour that I most associate with Layton.

    As far as the films are concerned, I thought that most of the armour designs resembled Adi Granov's work rather than Layton's. The Silver Centurion red-and-silver scheme was used in the Iron Man 2 fight at the racetrack with Whiplash, but the armour was much sleeker than Layton's bulkier-looking 1980's original.
