  1. Just watched the remake. A rather pointless one.
  2. A rare instance of something I'd buy again in high-definition. Interested in better picture quality, as some episodes in the DVD sets are very grainy and dull-looking.
  3. I’ve only seen the US region copy advertised here.
  4. I’ve only just read the last couple of pages of the thread, and I’m obviously very saddened by it. Jimmers is clearly a kind-hearted, empathic, caring guy, with a great, often adventurous, sense of humour, and the taste in comic books of a true collector and fan of the medium. To me, Jimmers, you’re one of the most significant boardies in many ways and, not just a platitude here, I’ll be keeping what’s been happening in mind and hoping that it gets much, much better for you, pal.
  5. Great taste. I have both season DVD sets.
  6. I always watch with subtitles to compensate for attention deficit and to be able to focus better on the dialogue, especially if it’s something throwaway that I’m only likely to watch once on TV. Unless it’s University Challenge, because that would spoil the questions. I still didn’t think much of this week’s episode.
  7. I’d just switch it off. In minutes.
  8. It was boring. I fast-forwarded through it after 25 minutes or so. I’m wasting my time recording this.
  9. You do have to be careful with new vinyl, as they can use later digital remasters rather than the original analogue. And, remaster doesn't always mean better.
  10. A few months back I was chatting with a twentysomething guy who was quite confused about the sound of vinyl. "I don't get what's so good about it. There's all this crackling going on in the background."
  11. I think that he became unsuited because of the way the character developed more and more into a manipulator. Alternatively, as a save, you could argue that his appearance and outward, superficial personality disguised his gameplay very well. From what was shown in the TV season I mentioned, I thought the Colin Baker stories were far weaker.
  12. When I watched the Doctor Who season on The Horror Channel a while back, I was surprised to discover that the McCoy period had some very good stories, and that he actually developed into quite a manipulative character.
  13. Earl Grey is too sophisticated for me. I prefer a very strong but very refreshing Builder’s Brew.
  14. I don’t think that’s nerdy at all. Hardly like having a duvet cover and pillowcases with super-heroes on them. Especially if you’re a senior nerd. Just as I’m an English coffee drinker, it’s nice to see an American tea drinker avoiding clichéd national stereotyping.
  15. A lyrical fit, and something a bit heavier.
  16. First ones I bought from a bus station newsstand in Manchester, England, around summer 1974... and Also, from a newsagents shop in Peel, while on holiday in the Isle of Man that same summer... Most likely a pence copy, though.
  17. I’m surprised. I would never have thought that the strip had any international appeal.
  18. That’s good news at least. I was concerned.
  19. It’s intended to be in a David Cronenberg style.
  20. I’m sure Alice Nutter should make an appearance in the next episode; the most memorable of the Pendle witches, for some reason. It’s a shame, though, that it’s a couple of centuries too early for Lancashire Kitchens to be featured, unless The Doctor decides to remodel the interior and controls of The Tardis some other time.
  21. Don't buy it. Please don't. It's terrible. Really, really terrible.
