  1. Since some people who collect 35-cent variants say your set is not complete till you own this "Variant of a Variant" and if some how it could be added to the Registery separate from the normal Captain America #212 35-cent book .
  2. You should send them to CGC to be re-slabbed and you might get a upgrade in the grade because I think all of your books are nice.
  3. Please, you're making my stomach ache wondering about my book now. CGC can't grade these books fast enough now. I've gotten books signed by O'Barr at 4-5 different shows - I've never had any problems whatsoever. Just relax, dude. Did you have him sign on the same day he went off about Vigil signing a book, which was then witnessed by one of the fans having their same exact book signed by him which Vigil signed beforehand? No? Well then... Put 'em up. I have no clue when keldog had his weird experience with O'Barr - if it was during this previous Chicago Comic Con, then, yes, my books were signed the same day. As I told Bosco685, it happened the last day of the show, I got a CGC witness, had Vigil sign it first because a guy who saw my copy and over heard I was getting O'Barr to sign it and said Vigil was sign at the show too, so Vigil for the front and O'Barr for the back. This were my story goes beyond what I thought it was going to be. James was at his table with a few people looking at his works, getting pictures, and signing stuff. So I waited till I could close to him to ask him to sign my book. I had the book laying on my comic bag and two back boards with the back cover with the Crow in it facing up because the CGC witness couldn't find the SS frame and told me I really don't need it . I laid it on the table infront of him and as he signed it, he looked at me then the witness who was playing with his phone. Then he asked me in a calm voice if I had Vigil signed it and I said, "Yes sir." . He then picked up my book in the air by the upper left hand corner and a twisting flip back and forth to the front and back to the look at both signatures a couple of times. My face and pulse just dropped and he then flipped did it to the front cover and flopped it around into peoples faces at the table to show Vigil's signature to everyone as he talked how "flowery" gay like it is to me and even the CGC witness; who was still playing with his phone and I was wishing O'Barr smacked the witness in the face because he didn't do anything about. I didn't do anything either till it was given back to me; I just started to laugh as i walk back to the CGC table with the witness. That was all I could do because I lost so much in the past from my bad temper and no judge in Chicago would understand if I did let my anger out on Mr. O'Barr and (like said before on here) over just a book. To me it was unreal and my wife couldn't believe me that I wasn't mad and just kept laugh about it as we drove home. I just told her he did it because people try to make money off him, he don't like CGC, and must not like the other artist or did it as a Tony Clifton-ish joke for the crowd at his table. I'm just one person this happened to (I guess) and one person who is confused on what to do with all my Crow stuff this is in my independent comic collection and my DVD that I never opened which all lost meaning. So Mr. O'Barr's stuff is still good and like I told Bosco685 that he has done alot of good things for people in the past with every cent that he made from the movie because he was so against how it didn't follow everything from the books and how bad it made him feel about Brandon Lee's death, who he got very close to and his family. I will never know the real reason why or if someone said or did something before I got to his table and I showed up at the wrong time. I should not stop others from collecting the books or get them signed because they are classics and I shouldn't stop my daughter from wanting to open and watch my DVD that she keeps asking to about but I don't know if I could watch it with her yet.
  4. I guess I'm the only one that this happened to and maybe I will never know why. Heck, last years cons Lou Ferrigno was the Incredible Cranky when my daughter and I wanted to get a photo with him ( my hulk post ). So not the first time a person I looked up to and wanted to meet turned out to not be how I hoped at Wizard World. On the positive side of that Lou didn't flip & flop my daughter or myself around in the air and at people around his table.
  5. For Real....? Did you tell O'Barr about my past trolling on the Board?? I said sorry before the con started. Now I got it on why on the last day of the con he was flipping and flapping my book by the corner. we are still cool (thumbs u but you know now on here I wasn't lying. I just need the people who where there to be boardies also to close out the rest of my story. Anybody? Anybody?
  6. I actually thought of your Caliber Presents 1 when I was informed what happened, and how it didn't make sense at all. So unless they had a recent falling out, we shall see what arrives back. The way Brad shadowboxed my book so Vigil could sign the front and O'Barr the back without smearing the ink, it should be safe. I'm just hoping what I was told was a joke. It would be disappointing to hear O'Barr did this to someone's book without thinking of how a fan would feel about their item being damaged. I have wrote bad things to or about people only when someone starts with me and I was hoping that I wasn't the only one this has happened to by Mr. O'Barr. The only joke was me lying to myself about reasons why it happened because to me it was unreal because on Thursday of the con, we talk of artists, the type of workout we still do after the military (both of us were in the USMC) to stay in shape, his past girlfriends, David Macks past girlfriends, and so on. I stopped by his table throughout the 4 days. Helped with pictures for some Asian guy who getting sketches and litho almost everyday. I told him I liked the Batman sketch he had for sale as he was doing a Crow sketch on I think someone's Avengers blank cover (is that someone on here?).
  7. To me I think that shouldn't have happened since GL 76 9.4 and Hulk 181 9.4 sell pretty good. Heck, Star Wars has way less 9.4's then both of those books, so I just don't get it still.
  8. Well it is like you own a Martin guitar and you are into this type of guitar because of the craft and quality of it. Now you get to meet the guy who made it to get it signed so you can prize it more and he brakes the string, bends the neck, and smacks your guitar on the table. Well he made the guitar but you bought and now own it so only you can do what you want done to it. So no one has the right to destroy your property. Would anyone on here like their property destroyed by the old owner? I kept my cool at the con when it happened and just laughed as I walked away and I defended Mr. O'Barr when I was PMed about what happened by others on here by saying "James is James" or he is "anti-CGC" or that "the guy had a rough life". Well I have and had a rough life too like most people. I'm not a big wig on here or really care if what I collect is the "now" thing or worth alot or nothing. Most of it is indepentant odd-ball books that has good stories and that is it. Yeah it was just a book but it was a book I owned and had meaning to me because I could relate to the story and to the creator's feelings and use it to deal with and escape what is happen in my life. Isn't that why people read books, watch movie, or listen to music?
  9. "I'm not normally a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman!"
  10. Bosco685 got me thinking about how James O'Barr acted toward me and my near perfect Caliber Presents #1 at WWChicago on that last day when I was able to get him to sign my book. I guess inside I'm holding in my rage and I was a big fan of the Crow and of O'Barr til he did what he did. My life was as bad and at times pure where still I act bad from it on here from being like that till I got control of it this year. Well, I related to O'Barr and the Crow since it was printed, I read the book and watched the movie everyday before I left the house when I was younger. I knew everything about James and got what he was doing with all of his books. I talked to him at the con when I could and had my daughter tell him that her daddy even read this story to her which seemed to impress O'Barr that he had such a young fan. Well my daughter wanted to watch the movie but now I feel I can't do it and the book that O'Barr manhandled and flopped around in the air when I ask him to sign it will mean nothing to me when I get it back for CGC . I was the better man to just walk away and laugh as if what he did was an Andy Kaufman joke but it is killing me that any think I want care about turns so wrong all the time. I can even enjoy books I collect any more or anything I thought would bring me peace to my stress and anger I feel in my life.
  11. What the heck is going on with the 9.4 Sar Wars #1 35-centers. In May on c-links auction it went for about $4600 and this month it just sold for about $5100at auction on c-link. Does c-link suck that bad with variant auctions because I remember the 9.4 Sar Wars #1 35-centers on EBay went for about $10,000 .So what has happened. Is Star Wars not that cool to be into or is price variants still not that big with other collectors and just a fad because no one whats to take the time to wait years to complete a set. Heck, I had members on here bounce me around on were to find a nice copy of Iron Fist #15 which seems to me harder to find compared to Iron Fist #14 which I know I can buy off of Comicwiz's site. Well any ways has the Star War #1 become that easy to find for auction from flipping that it has lost it glory and value? I'm hoping not and that it was just bad timing to sell the book.
  12. and at the same time. I hope your book is at least a 9.4, though glad the experience was a good one. Thank you. I think James liked me but not the idea of him doing SS CGC. I also met the guy who had the 9.8 of Caliber Presents and he told me he had his dual signed too and he had another guy next to him with a stack of nice raw Crow books too. I was seeing this was the book to have and sell at the con. One booth had a set for $100 EACH and I might pay that for his #1 but not #2-4 even though I wanted to get them from this guy. My copy was pure black, no color brakes and straight perfect flat with a minor manufacturing defect that with pressing would of fixed. It had a 50/50 of getting 9.8 if the defect is over looked. I should of had CGC put on the label "James O'barr Manhandled copy" so if I sell it will get some hype to it and I would laugh and really Treasured it if O'barr smacked the witness in the face when talking how fruity Vigil's signature looked to him. Well Bosco I guess it will match my Razor Annual in my independent collection when ever I get it back from CGC .
  13. Good Luck! Thanks Jerel. Brad was going to try and have O'Barr sign the back and Vigil sign the front on the Caliber Presents. Awesome That was what I did at the con but mine got manhandled by James as he made fun of Vigil's signature on the cover as he flopped my book in the SS witness's face. Well I think it went from 9.6 to 9.4 but what he saying was so funny that I couldn't stop laughing and he was doing thing that was straight Andy Kaufman and made me smile everyday when I walked by his table as he talk about life and other artists. I hope he is back next year.
  14. I don't know if it's a storage issue or what but there are very few collectors of magazines. Mad, Vampirella, etc just don't command the value to make them slab worthy. I think if HOTFLIPS finally gets a 4 mil mylar for magazine sized slabs the market will pick up !!!! I think because CGC didn't have slabs for them till now. Next they need to do is Treasury Size and all will be right in the world .
  15. I wish the values in OSPG was better for these books. I hope demand brings them up since there are people who do collect them on here .
  16. when did this happen and do you have a link or pic of this?
  17. I'm amazed at the jump IF 14 made. Though you would still need to pay roughly 3-4 times the OS 9.2 price to get a certified 9.2. Very true when one is known to show up and not hiden on c-link's listings but should of been in the auction part of the site. You got a nice IF 14 in 8.0 on your site and is a good 35 Cent find.
  18. Things sure slowed down on here since Shield took a break....
  19. $100 BAZILLION Dollars! Looks like it did not crack the $4,000 mark. Man, has this book tanked. 9.6 copies were selling for close to that just a few months ago. What was the PQ and centering of it? Everyone wants white or ow-white and perfect wrap.
  20. OS prices have never been entirely based on actual sales values. If something sold for $50 3-5 years ago, and jumped to $200 and then $400 over the last 2 years, the OS "smoothing pricing matrix" would have it listed at $80-$100. If it stays at $400, the price will go to $150-$200 next year. Old Bob has even stated this, since he doesn't want OS to reflect actual real-world prices, as that would entail lowering them once speculator values drop - instead he "smooths' them out over the longer term. Look at the past Iron Fist #14 variant sales in 9.2 that were both over $4000, is a rare in HG bronze age book on the top 10 list in OS, and GL 76 which is not so rare in HG took the #2 spot from it and made it #4 on the list under Hulk 181which is still #3. I'm glad SW 1 stayed #1 because I would of been if GL 76 got it.
  21. This is simply not true. Regardless of what OS says, there is nothing cheap about either set. Which set are you working on BTW? 35 cent....Iron Fist to start.....and lets look for X-Men also in both 30 & 35.
  22. WE must keep keep them up to date with the sales. I've tried for two years now with sales but I'm a nobody collector who is a slave to Overstreet and the CGC cenus that makes the prices. I thought with McClure's article which is 29 pages long that they would get the prices more up to date but that was just a waste time to Jon and ad space. Well more time for me get my set together for cheap .
  23. My guestimate around $20,000 if a 9.6 did show up and if that did happen then the 9.4 would be around $12,000.
  24. Here is a thing I found on Craig's blog ( http://bronzeagemarvelvariants.blogspot.com/2010/06/iron-fist-14-in-cgc-92-brings-4625.html ) about the recent sale of a Iron Fist #14 35-cent cgc 9.2 that was was on c-link and a what if price if a 9.8 of the book might go for if there was one. What would the only 9.4 go for now?? What if a 9.8 or even a 9.6 shows up since the crack and press; would it really go that high??
